Carrie Underwood Pulls A Kanye West

It seems that no matter where she goes, people just don't want to give Taylor Swift any kind of credit or let her bask in any kind of praise. Last night after beating out Carrie Underwood for Female Vocalist of The Year, Taylor won again for Entertainer Of The Year. Brad Paisley started congratulating Taylor and said, "How 'bout that? Nineteen-years old...Congratulations, Taylor. What a night. I can't even imagine a better...."

The dots are because he never got a chance to finish his thought. Instead, Carrie Underwood interrupted him and started begging for praise and admiration from the audience about the hosting job she and Brad had just done.

"And how were we? We were awesome!"

Seriously? I want to think it is a joke or they were running out of time, but lets face it, Carrie Underwood is a very spiteful and jealous person who probably has a voodoo doll of Taylor Swift that she jabs repeatedly each night.

The only thing missing from last night was Carrie saying, "Imma gonna let you finish Brad but first I just want to say how good I am and people need to recognize that fact. Sure, I only date some hockey player from Ottawa that no one has heard of while Taylor dates that guy from the biggest film of the year. Sure, she is prettier than me and nicer, but hey, people, you need to jump up and down when you see me because I am better."

  2. Yeah, me too...I thought "this bitch really needs to have all the attention all the time".

I don't know much about the country music crowd and most of the other nominees I have never heard, but I'm sure Taylor Swift deserved her awards. However, her crying seemed a bit fake if you ask me. But her dads' was real! And that was sweet!

  3. CU was heavily criticized for it at the a/ps...and rightly so.

  4. What the heck? She needs to go to charm school.

  5. Um...yeah? Class all the way, Carrie.

  6. Wasn't there a blind about her being a mean drunk?

  7. The thing is... Taylor Swift can't sing live and she proved it last night. She's pretty and can write pop songs, but I don't really consider her country. *shrugs*

Entertainer of the year? Sure. Vocalist? Not so much.

She wouldn't have won if Kanye hadn't been a jerk.

Carrie may be a petty beotch, but she has pipes.

  8. Also, Enty, why does it matter who they are dating? Are they defined by their boyfriends? Both of them are hugely succesful women. That kind of comment always annoys me.

  9. I respect everyone's opinions here because it's all subjective. But I'd much rather date a hockey player than some Twilight tween. I'd also rather date Jack White than George Clooney so I'm unconventional.

  10. I hate her dress, and the granny scarf.

  11. I agree with caralw. Who's deciding on the CMAs, 12 year olds? Taylor can't sing, especially live. I'm an indie snob but even I can't deny Carrie has a good voice. She's also prettier, imo.

I didn't think Kanye was right until I had to listen to Taylor's "Fearless" cd. Out of the thousands of records I've heard--it was one of the worst.

  13. It was rude and classless. And that wig. OMG...I can get one just like it a Kmart for $13.95.

  14. I saw that as well, and was hoping to defy every law of nature by being able to punch her right through the tv screen. What a miserable woman.

  15. I don't think that it matters at all if Carrie has a better voice than Taylor. She didn't win. If she feels cheated then she can go cry in her drink at the afterparty, but to try to take the attention away from the winner makes her look like a spoiled toddler.

  16. carrie does have the better voice.

  17. Coincidence that her initials are the first part of C.U.Next Tuesday? I think NOT!

  18. lol@ Lisa (original)

CU (next tuesday) reminds me a lot of Faith Hill...just sayin'.

  19. i wish carrie would go back to obscurity. ugh.

  20. First, I agree with caralw.

Second, I thought this was the second time that night that Brad Paisley blurted something that he shouldn't. He also said something after Darius Rucker (who I love love love!) got best new artist that made it sound like the other nominees were schlobs. So when he started to say that about Taylor, I thought he wasn't just dissing Carrie, but the other nominees as well. I thought it was good she interrupted.

    Just my take.

Brad's a nice guy. Too much of a nice guy and sometimes he doesn't think before speaking.

Also, if you think the CMAs and all the other music awards shows are about TALENT, you need to get a reality check. Nashville was reacting to the acclaim heaped upon Taylor Swift, just like it begrudgingly did to Shaninny years ago.

I don't think I like CU as a person, but she's a great vocalist, much stronger than TS. Time will tell who's still around in 10 years. I thin CU will, but TS won't. How many songs about breaking up with a teenager can TS write? She's almost 20, so not very many.

  21. Nunaurbiz, you're right. I also think Carrie will be around in 10 years. She has staying power.

Taylor's fans are fickle tweens. They'll be into someone else a year from now and will have forgotten about her. She went after the wrong fan base if she's after a long career.

  22. The saddest aspect to Taylor's grand slam win is that now, all the mean and jealous comments will ooze until she ends up in re-hab and fulfills the American dream crash recovery cycle. I hope she can rise above (her family seems grounded and not white trash ambitious so that's a good start) and revel in her talents and avoid the destructive chapter. Her poise at 19 is shocking and her excitement refreshing and sincere. Go Taylor!

  23. PS - To clarify, I wasn't referring to the great CDaN community's comments... I meant the schadenfreude that will flow in the media and tabloids.

  24. I really like Carrie, though don't know her personally, just her public side. I have followed her since her start on AI and to me she always seemed to be a nice person, unlike what ENT says about her.
Anyway, I used to really like Taylor. She was a breath of fresh air, but lately, she's just been getting on my nerves. I hope her music continues to evolve as she gets older, otherwise, she won't have much of a future.
I'm not sure I agree with her as Entertainer of the Year, since Kenny puts on such an amazing show, and I don't agree with Vocalist of the Year. I would have voted for Carrie.

  25. Carrie Underwood is a jealous bitch.

  26. I think this is being misinterpreted, Carrie was just trying to move the show along, because they were out of time and needed to end it.

The whole incident just points up what annoys me about Taylor - that her fans push a whole "victim" persona about her, and she is quite comfortable with it. Its all "oh, poor Taylor, her boyfriend broke up with her", and "oh poor Taylor, someone dissed her". She is an almost 20 year old multi-millionaire and successful recording artist. She is not a helpless, naive little kitten who needs to be defended from the big bad world.

  27. I also agree with caralw.

I read that they started off with a joke about Kanye interrupting, so maybe it was supposed to be a funny way to END the show (like bookends), but it just made her come off like the bitch she's reputed to be.

  28. Taylor Swift is coming THISCLOSE to overexposure and she hasn't even been on the scene that long! And the fact is she's been heaped with waaaaaayyyyy too many awards -- one here and there would make more sense than every award out there. I mean just throw her seven or eight Oscars this winter and another 12 Emmys for hosting SNL. Of course people notice.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anne J - agreed!!

Also, Carrie and Brad were dissing on Kanye from the very start of the show (the rewritten "Mommas don't let your boys grow up to be Kanye") so I don't really think Carrie was out of line with pulling a Kanye on Taylor (again). I mean, c'mon - didn't anyone see Taylor on SNL this past weekend?! Taylor has a good sense of humor about the whole thing; even though what Kanye did was totally obnoxious and further proved the type of person he is because it was probably the best thing that could have happened to Taylor's career.

Also, Carrie doesn't deserve Ent of the Year so it's not that big of a deal. (Not that I think Taylor did, either, but that's besides the point)

  30. I agree with Wynonna though--it's just not a good idea for a girl that age to get so many awards and all at once. For many reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Is Carrie the one Lainey refers to as "Country Bitchface"? If so, I have to agree with her...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sporky, quite probably.

I think Carrie was thinking about Carrie. I think the comparison re the boyfriends is getting lost here - Carrie is the type of person who would want the better everything - a bf like Taylor Lautner would get her more press.

When I saw this last night I was hoping you'd write about this, Ent.

  33. Carrie Underwears sucks. I can't stand her. Hated her from the first moment she set foot on American Idol. Yuck.
But let me tell you how I REALLY feel about her....
