Alexandra Kerry DUI - What Do You Think?
I was going to ignore the entire Alexandra Kerry DUI situation because I just don't think it is all that newsworthy. I think most people would agree and just want to post it so they can show the see through black dress picture. The only reason I decided to post anything is because I have a question for you. Here is the statement regarding her arrest from the LAPD.
"She was stopped by officers for a DUI investigation. She was brought to the Hollywood station where she was booked. She identified herself as Senator Kerry's daughter."
So, here is my question. Why did she identify herself as John Kerry's daughter? Trying to get out of it? If she had just been arrested as Alexandra Kerry she probably would have got away with no publicity or no notice of her arrest. I mean who cares right? But, as soon as she said who she was, then someone made a call and press are everywhere. The Hollywood cynical side of me says she is a film producer and director and has some new project coming out and now she knows she will get some publicity. So, my question is do you think she was trying to get out of the ticket by name dropping or wanted some publicity or none of the above?
I'd drop any name I had to if it kept me out of the slammer (and so far it has).
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't think she was looking for pubilicity.
I agree with califblondy. She hasn't acted or produced anything since 2004.
ReplyDeleteDon't you know who I am??? ha ha
ReplyDeleteI don't think she's looking for publicity. It's possible she was hoping they would go easy on her, but that's common even in the non-celeb world.
ReplyDeleteGuilty of using my dad's name to get out of trouble- he was a prosecutor in my area. When they let me go with whatever infraction (usually speeding NOTHING serious)- they woudl say, "well, we are going to tell your father"
ReplyDeleteprobably just to get out of a ticket...
ReplyDeletebut if she was drunk who knows what the motive was, lol
I wonder if enty would have even considered censoring this news if it had been Sarah Palin's daughter? Can you say "double standard"?
ReplyDeleteSomeone might have recognized her (unfortunately for her, she kinda looks like him) and she might have simply confirmed it. I'd think she'd have better luck getting out of it in LA by dropping the name of a California-based politician. Plus, it's probably better to disclose who she is upfront, rather than wait for someone to "find out" and then accuse her family of trying to keep it quiet.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I wondered who the hell this was, but I should've recognized that chin.
ReplyDelete"(unfortunately for her, she kinda looks like him)"
ReplyDeleteLOL
looserdude, why you gotta be like that? enty doesn't write from a political stance...get a new toy.
ReplyDeletewell said jax....I was thinking the same thing
ReplyDeleteKnow what, I'll bet she DIDN'T say it that way, I'll bet she gave her name and somewhere along the line the connection was made, and when they released the statement, they CHOSE to phrase it that way for maximum effect. My 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteLooserdude, Enty does not take political sides. The working theory is he's a libertarian, and he's never had either a pro-Republican or pro-Democrat stance. His readers, on the other hand... ;)
ReplyDeleteName dropping to get out of jail. What's weird is why she dropped it at that point. The first thing I would've said to the pigs if I were her: "My dad's John Kerry, please don't arrest me!!"
ReplyDeleteANYTHING to get out of jail. Ugh.
Viva we Libertarians!
ReplyDeleteLess gub-mint and more personal accountability!
Live and let live!
Do as ye will and harm none
(oops, that's the Wiccan philosophy...) But it still applies!
*sorry got all fired up there for a minnit*
I don't think anyone was saying it is Enty who would have made a big deal out of it if it were Sarah Palin's daughter.
ReplyDeleteI think the media as a whole would have made a big deal out of it if it were Palin's daughter or one of the Bush twins. The angle would have been along the lines of "Look, these family values people can't live up to their own values, but they expect other people to do so."
Had it been Chelsea Clinton, the coverage would have been respectful and sympathetic, the "everyone makes mistakes" approach.
BTW, I'm an Obama voter, not a radical right-winger.
just drunk and running her mouth? maybe?
ReplyDeleteWouldn't have recognized her and wouldn't have thought she was a producer/director.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it would be best to just exclude all children of all celebrities from public ridicule unless they are celebrities in their own right. Then they're fair game.
ReplyDeleteIf the celebrity children do something worthy of public ridicule, I say go for it.
ReplyDeletelooserdude, try being a little less loose and a little more factual next time you deal w/ the cdan fam. we'll call you on your crap real quick.
ReplyDeletehmmm. that said, i think it would've been a catch 22 for alexandra kerry either way. i blame her for being a dumbass drunk driver, but not for name dropping.
I agree with you, RocketQueen.
ReplyDeleteShe name dropped hoping it would get her out of it.
ReplyDeleteOf course she was name-dropping to get out of it. The last name Kerry is too common to get some random LA cop to say, "are you by any chance related to Massachusetts senator, and 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, John Kerry?" If she had been in Boston the name drop would have been 100% effective.
ReplyDeleteA London taxi driver told us that she was horribly rude.
ReplyDeleteShe was trying to get out of it.
I think you're reading way too much into the police statement. They probably asked her and she admitted it. That would also qualify as identifiying herself as his daughter.
