True Blood News - Evan Rachel Wood Casting Mistake & Alexander Naked More Next Season
Well the headline pretty much sums it up, but I guess I could expand a touch. Last night there was a True Blood writers panel and the writers talked about the show to an in person audience and people online. You can read all the questions if you click here, but here is one that is interesting. It was addressed to the creator of the show Alan Ball. (above)
7:43 PM - Time for online questions. Alynda asks about whether we've seen the last of the Queen, played by Evan Rachel Wood. Groans from the audience prompt Alan to shout out "Why do you hate her so much?" A few replies are that Wood is miscast and she is nothing like the Queen is in the books. Alan finally points to himself and says "Sorry! I cast her! Point it all towards me!" The fans reassure him that they'll still watch the show.
Hey at least Alan Ball didn't try and defend her performance or say that she was great. He just told it like it is and took the fall. I'm guessing Evan won't be back.
As for things that will be back, lots of Alexander Skarsgard being naked. I don't think you will want to miss the first episode.
"Brian says, "I love me some Alex Skarsgard," which gets a collective cheer from the crowd. Asked if we'll see more of Skarsgard's Eric - and Alynda makes it clear she means naked - Alan says "I think he appears without most of his clothes in the very first episode." The temperature in the room rises at least 10 degrees."
(Thanks Stacy)
ERW was utterly abysmal on True Blood. Her performances truly put the word 'horror' into the genre.
ReplyDeleteHot Viking Vampire naked? I'm sooooi there.
Woo-hooooo!!!
ReplyDeleteToo bad we have to wait another 8 months.
ERW ruined every scene she was in.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Wood supposed to be back next season, or has that changed?
ReplyDeleteAt least Snoop Dog is unlikely to guest star.
Thanks for posting EL. I think ERW will be back next season, but hopefully she will die sooner rather than later. But I suppose we could all pray for a recast of the Queen.
ReplyDeletei think i'm the last remaining person in this country that hasn't seen the damned show.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY someone standing up and taking blame for making a shitty choice. She can't act.
ReplyDeleteJust when I'm thinking of dropping HBO they tell me I'll be seeing more ALex S. Well damn! Guess I keep it for now.
Me either, Pookie, but I'm already convinced I need to rent it. Alan Ball (I believe) also dic 6 feet under, which I loved.
ReplyDelete@ Pookie - I don't know what it says about us, but I have not seen the show either. We must have more exciting things to do.....

ReplyDeleteteehee! RQ & mikey, so glad i'm not in that big ole boat alone. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was excited to read that Godric might be bad in flashbacks at least. That young man was amazing! Too bad he can't wear a wig and replace ERW!! : D-LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI hear you ardleigh .. I need to do whatever I can to continue to trim my budget and HBO has BY FAR been the deepest and the worst. I killed my phone yesterday .. talk about scary! : /
I just hope I will be able to pick it back up or if I am living in MY parents basement by next Summer .. that they let me add HBO to their cable.
I wonder if any of these people making these comments have read the entire series of books by Charlaine Harris. It also kills me that Alan Ball is the "creator". Creator of what, exactly? He sure as heck, didn't create any of these characters or the story. He is a glorified screenwriter, at best, and my guess is that he doesn't even contribute to the writing one bit. Poor Charlaine Harris has been given the shaft.
ReplyDeletemeant to post this here. really don´t get this whole anti evam rachel wood-thing. maybe its because i´m european and are un-affected of the whole dirt thing? i think she did awesome in tb as one hell of a super-wicked, cynical vampire lady, a great contrast to sexy alex´s more powerful vulnerability. the face on mr eric after erw´s "seducing" tryout was just priceless. love askars! (not in a crazy fangurl way, but in a more mature way :P) he´s an awesome and complex actor and seems to be in person as well, but the corrupted hollywood is behaving a tad bit cynical. he´s just a naive swede (like myself) who looks at the whole dating thing in a rather different way than in america, we can e friends (as well as "friends") with both men and women in a very casual non-dramatic way and even though I doubt he is doing that, i wouldnt regard it as a major thing to wuzz aout if they have een changing saliva or wht. its not serious, and she is crazy at least, maybe he just wanted some exciting days or just thought she was a decent person to hang out with or wth. he is just not judgemental. :)as a swede i dont get the whole wuzz (i realize my lingo is a bit off know, lol, ;) sorry fellas). its not like he is a virgin that now is deflated. :D he still is the really nice, sweet and interesting guy that he is inside. :) we swedes live in such a small place, we are just a tint of naive. in a good way, i think. curious. please, dont e too hard on us you distinguated americans. ;) i just wanted to stand up for this man a little, im not a fan or anything but i can assure you he´s one ell of an actor with much subtleties and nyancees and a supernice, warm fellow. i really hope it will go well for him in hollywood eacuse it is such a change from sthlm. the taloids and hysterical gossip sites are rather scary in my eleive. give the guy a f* break. :/ wow long post this.
ReplyDeleteesides he deserves so much more than those horrid gossip site immature speculations now that he is trying ( and working extremely hard, only two weeks vacation) to make a good effort in hollywood, they should e focusing on that and not those silly judgemental dating rumours. love us, but just dont get the whole datething, seems like an old catholic doctrine in all its moralistic glory and peculiar definitions.
ReplyDeletelast comment, promise! :P god, i´m pathetic. :P just feel for the man! anyway, he has said himself that he already thins he is over-exposed in the media and would like them to focus on his serious acting efforts instead. and ironically he have always said that he is "just so tired" of the whole hunk label. :)at least he said that a couple of years ago. i think he´s kind of accepting it though, he is humble about it, but just dont let it get to him, really dont want to e labelled and want to focus on his efforts as an actor. he really doesnt think like a hunk, people just tend to project on him all the time, especially media. :) i think hes great in that movie where he plays a transgender woman btw as a contrast. ok, im done defending fellow swede now. :P sorry out the bombing, just needed to get it out..
ReplyDeletewil: i agree! where is all the hardcore man-om-man action! alan all is a coward, the show would be an excellent place to finally in introduce " casual bisexuality for everyone" to the people :) be gone, homophoby!
