Philly Cops Have Way Too Much Time On Their Hands

Yesterday in Philadelphia a woman was arrested for solicitation of prostitution. There is nothing very post worthy about that by itself. However, the reasons behind the arrest are post worthy. Susan Finkelstein is 43 years old and a big Phillies fan. As you may or may not know the World Series starts tonight and the Phillies are playing the Yankees. Susan really, really wanted to go see the Phillies play.

So, Susan did what any other person does in this age, she posted something on Craigslist. In the ad she described herself as "gorgeous, tall, buxom blonde diehard Phillies fan desperately seeking Series tickets. I'm the creative type! Maybe we can help each other!"

So, a Philadelphia police officer called Susan and she indicated that in return for some tickets she would be amenable to performing some sexual acts. Susan was arrested. You know, I understand prostitution is a crime, but to me this sounds like two people talking about a date to a baseball game and what would happen after the game. I think this is a really questionable arrest and I really think that there must be more pressing issues facing the Philadelphia police department.

Let's say that I get set up on a blind date. Prior to that date I have several phone conversations with the woman I am going on the date with. Perhaps at some point the discussion becomes more sexual and we describe some of the things we are going to do for each other. During one of these conversations I mention that I will pay for dinner. Does that now make her guilty of prostitution? Does it make me guilty of soliciting? There is just too much ambiguity when you talking about anything but money for sex.

Was money going to be exchanged on this date LOL???

  2. What a waste of precious tax dollars. Adults consenting to sex, big deal.

  3. WTF, this is too much like the guy who was arrested for making coffee in the nude in his own fucking house. I am all for fighting crime but these incidents do not qualify as crimes. The guy making coffee had taser guns pointed at him and then arrested. Next time you have sex with a guy after he pays for dinner, or take your clothes off to take a shower, be careful, big brother may be watching.

  4. Also, if anything this woman should have been arrested for posting false information because she is not "gorgeous".

  5. DrCocks, maybe for a philly fan she is...?

  6. entrapment!

...and talk about false advertising...eeep. that's one rough-lookin' phillies fan.

    *pictures enty soliciting* teehee.

  7. She could have just been leading him on in order to get the tickets, right? Stupid story, but typical for the area. Philly has way more problems than this. Was there nothing else on Craiglist that day worth the officer's time? I'm smack dab in the middle of Philly/Yankee territory - people here would sell their soul to the devil to get tickets.

And yes, she would be considered georgeous by more than a few Philly fans. Take a look at them when they show the fans in stands during the series.

  8. So, the guy aka police officer called her and did he have to wait until she offered to have sex with him for the tickets or could he straight up ask her if she would have sex with him for the tickets?

  9. Just legalize whatever two consenting adults do behind closed doors. Jeez!

  10. Brutal. I feel sorry for this woman, actually. Everyone she knows will know about this.
Agree, though - don't the cops have anything better to do?!

  11. LOL at @drcocks. Although, I'll bet she looks great when she's smiling and not, y'know, under arrest.

So did they come to her house and arrest her? Or arrest her at the stadium?

Sounds like something she might have just send as a flirtatious joke.

  12. Sounds like good detective work to me.

  13. *snort* Many of you beat me to the "arrest her for lying joke" already. I'm on the slow bus today. Here is hoping that it's a bad pic for her sake since she did get fucked and still doesn't have any tickets.

As corrupted as the Philly police department is, they have some balls arresting this chick. I hate Philly cops with a passion. If any of you guys are going to the games, be careful, it looks like they are going to be in rare douchebag form if this is any indication.

I'm sure there are worst things going down to acquire Series tickets than this chick offering up a bj. Try solving a murder or two you fucktards.

  14. Did he record the conversation? Would a judge have given him a warrant for something so stupid?

"Pennsylvania's wiretapping law is a "two-party consent" law. Pennsylvania makes it a crime to intercept or record a telephone call or conversation unless all parties to the conversation consent"

  15. if she finds a half decent lawyer, she will walk. i am sure that philadelphia could have used police resources elsewhere.

if she lived in san francisco, this would have not occurred.

  16. Wow...who does a girl have to fuck to get World Series tickets?

  17. "During one of these conversations I mention that I will pay for dinner. Does that now make her guilty of prostitution?"

If the sex is contingent on receipt of dinner, and vice versa -- yes, it does.

The law is the law. End of story. And that's why we have jury trials.

  18. Guess what? A local radio station here in Philly gave her two tix to game 3 .. hows that for stepping in dung and coming out smelling like a rose. Philly is all bad, believe me, I have lived here all my life and have relatives and friends that are cops, most are of the decent variety. LETS GO PHILS! BEAT THEM DAMN YANKEE's!

  19. Drcocks-

Regarding the man making coffee in his own house...that happened in Springfield VA. I was born and raised in Fairfax County, and this is just par for the course there. There is WAY too much money there, and the cops are out of control. This type of thing has been happening there for a while, but the guy WILL get off. He will have to pay out the nose for lawyers, and the county is OK with that because it puts revenue in their pockets, but it is complete bullcrap. It is infuriating, but this is what happens when there are too many cops in one area.

And it's not like there isn't real crime there, it's not like the cops don't have many better things they could be doing, but those crimes will not bring in revenue like this will, so they tend to ignore those things for stupid stuff like this. It's one of the many reasons I moved away, because it really has become a police state. You cannot drive on Rt 1 without seeing at LEAST 8 cops in a 5 mile stretch, and they are all determined to harass you for the most asinine reasons possible, as long as they feel that you will pay (and being a US citizen, I had to pay, unlike the thousands of illegals that do whatever they please because they will not show up for court or pay because why would they).

This should be a cautionary tale of the abuses of police power, and be a warning to those who think increased police presence will actually do something about crime, because it doesn't. All it does is get regular people harassed and basically shook down for money, so they can use their police helicopters to bust up high school parties (true story, happened to us), among other things. Philadelphia seems to be traveling down the same dangerous path, which is sad and scary, but people need to be aware of this, and stand up and fight this crap.

  20. I wonder if this gal was indeed hot, would we have heard about this little rendezvous?

  21. Actually it wasn't Philly police. It was Bensalem police which is a suburb of Philadelphia. These are 2 entirely different police departments. Bensalem is a wealthy suburb and the police have absolutely nothing to do. The majority of them would be too scared to work in Philly with a gun and a bullet proof vest. So yes, this would be a big news story for them.

  22. doesn't say if she had a significant other...I would be curious about that.

  23. First off, I meant to say Philly isnt all bad .. secondly, yes, she does have a significant other and guess what, they are swingers .. wow, this story gets better by the minute

  24. Thanks Merrick--I guess the fact that she is part of "the lifestyle" makes sense.

  25. As Enty's Next Ex-Wife pointed out, these were officers from a suburban police department, so the Philadelphia cop-bashers need not get all cranked up about this.

They were (legitimately) scanning Craigslist.com looking for ads for illegal activities, e.g drug deals and child molesters' ads, when they saw the ad from "Desperate."

An undercover officer posed as a prospective customer, phoned the woman and arranged to meet her in a bar -- in the Bensalem police department's jurisidiction.

There, she offered to engage in various sexual acts in return for a game ticket. She then asked if the officer had more than one ticket, and when he said he did, she increased the scope of her sexual offer. I think Enty would agree that that falls within the legal definition of pandering or solicitation.

Given the not-too-long-ago hijinks of Boston's "Craigslist Killer," (Philip Markoff??) I don't see where the cops are overstepping their boundaries here.

  26. look in any craigslist there are tons of these types of ads. i've seen them from mena dmwome for Canucks tickets, concert tickets..all kind of stuff, but mostly its to escort them there not outright get some tickets.

    desperate times!lol.

  27. Amanda Rae..I used to be a cop in Fairfax, my husband still is. Don't know why you have that chip on your shoulder, but honestly, cop bashing has become so common, I take it all with a grain of salt. Fairfax has some of the best trained and educated officers in the country.
Regarding the naked coffee maker, I don't know what the national media is reporting, but he made his coffee in the nude at 5:30 am. He was standing in an open doorway several hours later, still fully nude, and in full view of anyone passing by, as children were being walked to school. While I think that people over react to nakedness, and I also make my coffee in the nude at 5:30 am, (I sleep that way, and roll out of bed and head straight for the coffeemaker) I make sure I am not standing naked in front of kindergartners at any time of the day. There is way more to this story than 'man arrested for being naked in his own house.'

  28. Susan, thanks for the flip side. There is always 3 sides to a story.
