Mary Murphy Spills About Abuse And Rape ** Warning Graphic**
So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy gave a juicy interview to US Weekly. Her revelations are shocking and I can't believe she didn't write a book about them. In the interview, Mary who is 51 says she got married back when she was 18 to a man from the Middle East. About three months after they got married, the couple had a fight and it was the kind of fight where the neighbors want to call the cops. Mary said they crashed over furniture and were screaming and yelling and then during the fight her husband told Mary that he wanted to have sex with her.
"I was like, 'Are you kidding me?! We're fighting here!' He said, 'You're my wife, and you'll do what I tell you!' I pulled out a kitchen knife and screamed, 'You're going to have to stab me, because I'm not having sex with you!' He knocked it out of my hands, held me down and raped me."
After that encounter he would rape her frequently during fights. After the first year or two she stopped fighting and just let her husband rape her. "For years, I'd have black eyes and bruises, but I never called the police or went to the hospital. I didn't want anybody to know."
In 1985 after they had been married for about 9 years, Mary discovered that her husband had proposed to another woman on one of his trips back home. She also discovered he had an additional girlfriend in Germany. At that point she finally decided to leave him.
For his part, Mary's ex-husband called Mary's statements "flat-out lies." I wonder if for the past 25 years he has been raping all the other women in his life.
Wow- what a terrible 10 years for her!! I applaud her for telling the story.
ReplyDeleteI guess her cackl-ie laugh won't be so hard to listen to now...
"At that point she finally decided to leave him."
ReplyDeleteI just don't get it when women just let someone beat on them.
Sadness. I'm glad she did finally leave him.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm glad to hear that Jen & John are back on.
Yes, I'm sure he has been raping the women in his life for the last 25 years. It's a power thing on his part that gets him off.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Poor Mary! For the record, the producers (read Nigel) apparently make her do the scream. She doesn't like it any more than most of us do. Ah, 'reality' tv.
ReplyDeletewhy didn't she leave before? why didn't she never call police? i'm happy her to leave him finally
ReplyDeleteAND beat and rape his wife never is a clue of love
Spousal rape is more common than you may think, and up until relatively recently, it wasn't even illegal!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the article, but is it too late for her to go back and file charges?
ReplyDeleteIsn't it hard to prove rape when you are married???
ReplyDeleteSo instead of leaving him when she was being rape. She left him when she found out about the other women.
These Middle Eastern Men are actually sent over here by their country to marry these women and bring them back to their countries and inbreed the fair skin and fair haired genes into the Middle East.
ReplyDeleteI had 2 girlfriends who were best friends who married Middle Eastern Men, and they had the same M/O. To marry them and bring them back to the country. They never could get them to go back, but if they ever did, they would have taken their passports and held them prisoner over there. This is still very common over there, even now. They don't have rights so they can't go anywhere to get help.
Jamie's Girl-
ReplyDeleteDAT'S WACIST! Geez, don't you know that only us imperialistic capitalist pig AmeriKKKans do stuff like that? Somebody must not be reading the correct, liberal-approved talking points! It's OK though, I reported you to the White House, and the PC police will be at your house shortly to take you for "re-education". Yay for lobotomies!
But seriously, I feel bad for that lady....however, she should have known better than to marry that guy. It's not like this isn't a well-known phenomenon amongst that particular group of people, what with their being so respectful of women and all. At least now I know why she's such a nutcase...have you seen her on "The Soup"? She looks like she's always in a K hole or something. I guess I'd be on drugs too if I had gone through all that. Hope she's getting help.
"bring them back to their countries and inbreed the fair skin and fair haired genes into the Middle East"
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA ooooohhhhh yeah, that's a good one.
yeah, in addition to the annoying make-me-want-to-stab-my-ear-with-something-pointy scream, her eyes are totally wacky. Like both of them can't blink at the same time. Weird.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for Mary, but I think it's odd to tell such a serious story to a piece of fluff like "UsWeekly". I'm sure they'll put her "My husband beat and raped me" story between an article about where to buy shoes like Cameron Diaz's and an interview with Miley Cyrus.

That IS racist, and it also blames the victim. I don't guess you will care given the way you disparaged the that's racist comment at the start of your post, using baby talk. I suppose racism is ok if it's being perpetrated on your 'enemies' though :P
Not ALL middle eastern hubbys are abusers/rapists but there is a stereotype for a reason.
ReplyDeleteRun away fast girls as fast as you can.
Calling Lorena Bobbitt? Ms. Bobbitt?

ReplyDeleteOkay .. this is a shitty thing to say .. but I wouldn't get involved with a Middle Eastern Male if you gave me profit sharing in all the oil revenue generated by Saudi Arabia.
ReplyDeleteMy college had an ELS [English Language Study] program and I know of more girls .. including my roommate .. who were raped by these guys because this is the way things go with regard to male-female relationships. You are chattle to a very large percentage of these guys. Not all .. but a scary enough percentage .. and a lot of women from this country do not understand the principle under which these relationships operate.
Hope Mary has healed from her experience as much as is possible when it comes to rape.
If someone EVER tried to rape me, they better effing kill me, cause I'll do anything in my power to fight back and make sure they have to pay for what they did.
