Emily Blunt
Julianne Moore
Renee Zellweger
Zoe Saldana
This month Elle Magazine profiled five women in Hollywood and named them the leading ladies of Hollywood. Of the five they chose, Katie Holmes is probably the one that people will talk about the most. I'm not sure how she really qualifies as a leading lady of Hollywood. The only acting they spoke to her about involved her Broadway play and last I checked Broadway isn't in Hollywood. As with any interview involving Katie she has to talk about how her family is the most important thing in the world to her. She managed to not use the word amazing which is is amazing in its own right. She does say she likes vampire movies but says they have to have real characters. So, I'm guessing she likes Interview With A Vampire but has no interest in Twilight unless they offer her a part.
On family life: “In my own life, my whole world really revolves around family. I do what I need to do, but it’s like, ‘How is everybody else doing?’ And it’s wonderful for me as an actress to put some of that into a character.”
On the genre of film she loves most: “It can be any genre. I even like vampire movies – they just have to be well done. I want to believe in the characters. The minute it starts to feel not real, I’m not interested.”
That is kind of how I feel about the movies she has been in recently. Not interested.
I guess the only words she knows is "My world revolves around my Family". She sounds very boring and lacks words.
ReplyDelete"The minute it starts to feel not real, I'm not interested."
ReplyDeleteKind of like your marriage?
Paris Hilton would have been a better choice than Katie. At least she is working.
ReplyDeletePieces of April and The Ice Storm are the only two performances worth mentioning and that was years ago.
ReplyDeleteAm loving Zombie's hair.
ReplyDeleteI'd be more interested in hearing Julianne's opinion on, well, anything! She freaking beautiful & seems to be sane & normal.
Can she SOUND any more programmed (said in Chandler Bings' voice )....but yah love her hair. and I too heart Julianne Moore - hmm Katie's cut, Julianne's color...off to the hairdresser i go !!!
ReplyDeleteI am sure she did use the word amazing, but some smart publicist made sure to have it exchanged for something else in the editing process, to make her seem more real..
ReplyDeleteHey, at least she looks good. Ever since Suri was born, she's looked like a strung out zombie. Except that one time when she spent $43,000 for a one-night makeover.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there's a scientologist somewhere in charge at Elle.
ReplyDeleteI love Julianne Moore. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you haven't seen "End of the Affair" w/ Ralph Fiennes you need to rent it now.
The biggest PR fluff issue in Elle's history. Clap, clap, clap for the PR person who made that happen.
ReplyDeleteWho the heck is Zoe Whatzername? Never heard of her! Leading women of Hollywodd? No mention of Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep, a thousand other more talented actresses than Katie!!!
ReplyDeleteYuck, none of those pictures is very flattering except for Zoe's.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry Julianne doesn't look as beautiful as she normally does!
ReplyDeleteKatie looks amazing, actually. It's amazing how being Tom Cruise's wife will get you the title "Woman of Hollywood".
Katie does look better than usual. Too bad she got sucked into the black hole that is her marriage. She really showed promise at the beginning of her career.

ReplyDeleteDoes Katie have an extensive enough resume to qualify for the title of 'Leading Lady of Hollywood'?
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing 'one of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong' in my head.
I'm surprised they didn't round out the top five with Heidi Montag, as she's well know for her thespian qualities, not.
When I first quickly scrolled thru, I thought Katie was Drew Barrymore with dark hair (apparently I need a stronger 'script for my glasses). She does look very pretty in that pic. Aside from that, she's FAAAAR from one of Hollywood's 'leading ladies'.
ReplyDeleteJulianne Moore, not so much in her photo... which sucks, because she's gorgeous!
the katie pic is beautiful...good for her. not sure she deserves to be on that list tho. sounds like the hand of xenu must have been at play.
ReplyDeleteI find the selection of these women strange....Emily is working and an up and comer, but is she at "leading lady" status yet? Same with Zoe...the only thing I can pin her to is Star Trek (very good, but hardly a "lead" in the traditional sense).
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Julianne Moore in anything in quite a while--one of my faves, but is she 'current'? Same with Rene, though she is definitely NOT one of my faves.
I think everyone's pointed out the obvious about KatE!
I agree with all these comments. Renee Zellweger was the only one of these featured actresses who qualifies as a constantly employed and bankable actress. She's also actually a good actress. And all of this kills me to say because I am NOT a fan of Miss Batshit Crazy Eyes. However, I will give credit to whomever photographed her. She's the best looking one of the bunch. Again, this pains me.
ReplyDeleteWow Katie sounds mighty Stepford!
ReplyDeleteWhy not put Drew Barrymore on the cover? She has a movie where she DIRECTED the damn thing. Sure it might not have been a smash hit but at least Drew is more a Hollywood Woman then Katie. Wonder what strings Tommy paid for that PR?
Zoe who? Why? She could open a movie? For pete's sake ... I had to GOOGLE her just to find out who she was.
ReplyDeleteWhat an odd choice of 5. The object of the cover is to sell the magazine; can't imagine Zoe doing that. Katie: only reason to pick her.
agreed. where are drew, the zooey, charlize, hell, mila kunis is nice to look at!
ReplyDeletei love juianne, though.
robot katie = fail.
really I thought all of the pics were beautiful (agreed on the "Katie's hair, Julianne's color" comment), but all of the choices were odd. And I don't think that Katie was ever even a "good" actress. I remember the first time I flipped through the channels and saw "Dawson's Creek", I thought, "who is that weird girl with that crazy annoying crooked smile?"
ReplyDeleteps. How weird do Katie's arms look?
