James Franco Spending Time In Port Charles

General Hospital must have blown their entire budget on this, but James Franco is scheduled to be on the soap for almost two months beginning in the middle of November. The star of Pineapple Express and Spider-Man agreed to take on a role as a mystery person who comes to town and basically causes trouble for a couple of months. With soaps gasping to stay relevant and attract viewers this seems like a great idea for the sweeps period and it shows that some actors are willing to do whatever it takes and take on whatever roles sound interesting no matter what the medium is.

I haven't watched GH in a long time but now I will probably have to set the DVR and take a look. I'm guessing they won't waste his appearance and so each episode will probably have a whole lot of Franco.

Ent do you have a man crush on Franco? I do, but it's still not going to make me watch a soap.

  3. I freaking love it. I always wanted to write for one of these shows. I was so into GH for a while but I lost track once I got out of school and had to get a day job. I am going to find a way to watch this though.

  4. OMG, Alice. It was my dream to write for GH as a teen as well.

If you get SoapNet, they run GH at 10 or 11 weeknights (Eastern time) and they run marathons on Sundays. Also, really devoted fans post epis on YouTube religiously.

On TWOP, fans are saying they heard Franco wants to see how hard it is to be on a soap. A friend made a bet with him. Also, his manager is the same manager of Steve Burton AKA Jason Morgan AKA Jason Quartermaine.

  5. I'm also a lifelong GHer. I love how they've been throwing in interesting characters lately. Altho, I'm sad to see Claudia leaving. She's leaving in the beginning of Nov, I wonder of Franco will have anything to do with it.

  6. Probably won't watch it (have job) but that doesn't change how PRETTY he is *sigh*.

  7. I've never noticed him before but I sure will now... I am a life long GH'er myself and when I read stuff like this it truly makes me appreciate what a great man James Franco must be. He's definitely yummy to look at.

  8. Wow Susan that is some good info. I bet it is hard because there are so many lines to remember…not to mention keeping a straight face while delivering melodramatic dialogue, talking to yourself when you think no one is listening, monologues in your head, and close-ups of “revealing” facial expressions hehe.

I used to be so into them that I could actually tell which writers wrote when. Fans, as I am sure you know, really have it out for certain soap writers because they can really ruin a character by making them overly obnoxious, spineless, etc. I know I am a dork.

  9. Yeah, I think it's funny when the actors describe their characters tongue firmly planted in cheek, "Oh I've been married five times and had an affair with my husband's father and his brother. Oh and I have been tried for murder three times."

I'm an on and off GHer. My mother used to watch it during the "Luke and Laura" days.

  11. I haven't watched this show since getting a "real job" but since I was recently laid off, I can catch up. If I'm still on the job hunt in November I'll definitely be tuning in, I LOVE him.
