Hopefully Thomas Dekker Will Never Drink And Drive Again
Thomas Dekker was a very lucky guy last night, but not as lucky as the 17 year old boy he hit who was riding his bike. Last night around 9pm, police responded to a call saying that a bicyclist had been struck by a car. When they arrived at the scene they suspected the driver of the car, Thomas Dekker was drunk. They gave him a field test and arrested him on suspicion of DUI causing bodily harm and was being held on $100K bail.
The bicyclist is said to have only suffered minor injuries and hopefully he will be ok and Thomas Dekker will realize how close he came to killing someone because he couldn't be bothered to call a cab.
Ugh. What an ass.
ReplyDeleteDumb kid.
ReplyDeleteSo he was Zack for 12 eps of Heros, John Connor for 31 eps of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and will be Jesse in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.
ReplyDeleteThomas is actually a really nice guy... just a bit caught up in the "celebrity" experience that traps most of Hollywood's young talent. I'm sure this will be a wake-up call... thankfully, no one was killed.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm not making excuses for him. When I next see him, I will scream at him. Promise.
I think it's some karma: he and/or his agent made a stink when the Heroes' producer considered making his character gay. Seems to me that was part of the reason the character was written out.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, from IMDB:
It was originally intended for Claire's friend Zach eventually to be revealed as gay, and to have his coming out serve as a parallel to Claire's coming to terms with her secret abilities. However, when the manager for Thomas Dekker (the actor who played Zach) discovered that this development was in store for the character, she first insisted that a line identifying Zach as gay be deleted from a script, and then pulled Dekker from the show altogether. Producer and writer Bryan Fuller gave an interview in April 2007 in which he explained that Dekker "was up for the John Connor role in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (2008) and [the manager] didn't want him playing a gay character because it might affect Fox's interest in hiring him. It got really ugly." Fuller also said that through Zach's last appearances on the show, "in all of our minds, the character was still gay but we couldn't say it explicitly."
Bryan Fuller seems to have a lot of trouble with getting his characters outted. In the first episode of Dead Like Me, it appeared George's parents' marriage was in trouble because Mr Lass was gay, but they turned that into him having an affair with a female student.
ReplyDeleteThese kids are stoopid and they don't think it's gonna happen to them. Maybe this will be a wake up call, and maybe it won't. One can only hope it will be.
RE: SkittleKitty -
ReplyDeleteThat may have been what was reported but it was always not completely true. I'm personally aware of the details of that situation and the reason Thomas wanted out of HEROES. There were a lot of lies told to him about what his character would and would not do. It's another case of Hollywood spin.
If Thomas can be blamed for anything it's for not censuring his comments (something he is learning). He has a lovely spirit and is very appreciative of the opportunities in his life. Unfortunately, he is also surrounded by some serious kiss-up enablers who hopefully, will now be shown the exit door. It would be a tragedy if he did not learn from this horrendous, CRIMINAL experience.
I won't go on and on but thought some truth may help keep the focus on the fact that this is not about karma. It's about NOT DRINKING AND DRIVING. His license should be taken away for a long time.
are you his agent??
ReplyDeleteNo. Promise. Just connected via one of his other productions.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd never be allowed to be an agent. I hold people accountable and do not suck up.
