This story is shocking. I can't imagine why the 2002 Playmate of The Year Dalene Kurtis stayed with her ex boyfriend for longer than a minute, but she did and has the bruises to prove it. Dalene filed a $10M suit against James Metropoulos who is the heir to the Bumble Bee tuna fortune alleging that James hit Dalene in the ribs with a baseball bat, stomped on her face and chest, tried to pop her breast implants, choked her, grabbed her, punched her, kicked her, spit on her, threatened to kill her and her family, and for good measure also called her a f**king whore, an ungrateful bitch and ugly.
Last month Dalene was granted a temporary restraining order against James. I can't imagine why someone would put up with this and it sounds like she put up with this behavior for a very long time.

RocketQueen, I don't think happy, well-adjusted, confident women pose for Playboy. Sure, there are exceptions, but these women are looking for outside validation. The damage becomes more obvious after they are no longer in the spotlight and end up in tragic messes. Just my hypothesis.

I see on IMDB she's listed as born in 1977 (i.e. 32 years old) and he is listed in press reports as 25. I saw a photo of him and maybe she is an opera fan who likes men who remind her of Pavarotti. He may have intelligence, wit or a sparkling personality but I don't think I'm overly cynical in suspecting that money is his greatest attraction. I'm sure there was some form of altercation but her motivations in this relationship strike me as suspect. There isn't much demand for old Playmates and, if she doesn't win a big settlement, I wouldn't be surprised if she has a future asking whether you want fries with that order.
ReplyDeleteAbuse cannot happen to you if you are not there for abuse to happen to you. So I do blame her for sticking around, but not for his violence. He will violate anybody who lets him. BTW, he took a baseball bat to her? How Horrific. No Human nor animal should have to live like that. He's a monster.

I divorced an emotionally abusive man within the last year, and have determined that abusive people have a way of really making you think you're at fault for everything and making you think you're crazy if you think that the abusive person is being abusive. It took me a couple of years to realize what was happening, and once I realized the extent of the mind f^ckery that had been going on, I was shocked to realize I didn't see it at the time.

It's past time we should start thinking about why people are raised to accept choices like this. I suspect the guy will be picking up trash on the side of the road for a few weeks with Chris Brown. Things need to change.
ReplyDeletei still dont get the whole 10million lawsuit thing- i just am so tired of that being the response people have to everything. it seems dumb. she should get hers, dont get me wrong, but this seems like such a buisness like response, instead of ,say, get his ass in jail under assualt charges
