Today's Blind Items - Nicknames
This Golden Globe Nominated/Winner television actor who is a solid B lister from his body of work is known by the nickname Retch. It is based on one of his characters. The reason he is called this is because whenever he breathes on you you really think you are going to puke. It is not a natural condition. Our actor believes in a pill and vitamin regimen that is the cause. Despite complaints from everyone he keeps taking the pills and forcing everyone who does scenes with our actor to rub Vicks under their nose.
matthew mc-sp? the guy who always has his shirt off and runs around with lance armstrong?
ReplyDeleteIT DOESN'T JUST COME THROUGH THE MOUTH...HIS SKIN....AND URINE ...IT CAN BE AWFUL..JUST AWFUL
ReplyDeleteI've heard about him.
ReplyDeleteBernie Turtletaub?
ReplyDelete*jumps on matthew mcm. train* he even looks smelly.
ReplyDeleteChevy Chase. Fletch = Retch. Plus, he was nominated for Golden Globe back in 1979. My best guess....probably not right....but still =)
ReplyDeleteCarrissa, He was my first thought too
ReplyDeleteMatt McConaughey isn't a TV actor
ReplyDeleteChevy will be back on TV with Joel McHale's new show Community. I'm liking that guess.
My first thought was Nick Nolte just because of the vitamin thing he used to sell, but he doesn't fit any of the other clues.
I vote with half the "C"s.... Chevy Chase was my thought too. "Fletch" Sorry, Chevy, if we're wrong...
ReplyDeleteChevy Chase was my thought too.,
ReplyDeleteHugh laurie?
ReplyDeleteI thought this was the fresh prince. i remember a past lainey blind or somebody elses blind.
ReplyDeleteI'm changing mine to Hugh Grant. He just looks smelly.
ReplyDeleteMina THE TURTLE!
ReplyDeleteLOL That's the first thing I thought of when I read this. Nice SATC reference.
Chevy Chase ftw.
ReplyDeleteThat shit's nasty. Stop taking those damn pills or get some Altoids!
For the first time I'm gonna say it: can this even be a blind? Fletch, Retch .... Chevy Chase FTW.
ReplyDeleteKevin James? I'm grasping here.
ReplyDelete"television actor"
ReplyDeleteChevy Chase is known just as much for movies.
Immediately thought Chevy. Is he really B list, though?
ReplyDeleteI did get a chance to see the pilot for Community, and it's freakin' hilarious.
I thought it was Robert Downey JR until I re-read and saw the TV bit. I'm stumped.
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of offending my children, Chuck Norris? (Chuck Norris can fry ants with a magnifying glass. At night.)
ReplyDeleteNo seriously children, I was just kidding. Please don't put me in the home.
It's Chevy Chase. Retch, based on a character. Fletch.

ReplyDeleteHas to be Chevy Chase...the obvs "Fletch", the reference to the 'body of work' suggests someone older, more established and the very fact that everyone is willing to still work with him makes me think it's someone with a bigger name--CC fits the bill.
ReplyDeleteBUT....is he actually working, lately?
RDJ won a globe for best supporting actor in 1997 for Ally McBeal.
ReplyDeleteHe carries around a lunchbox filled with pills and such.
I'm going with him.
Chevy is movie and TV but most definitely not B-list. He did get 2 GG movie noms in '79 though.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't Vicks show up on camera? It's shiny.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I thought of Hugh Laurie too. Still love him, though.
ReplyDeletejohn Hamm of "mad men" ?: that would be too funny because his character is so stylish
ReplyDeleteNick Nolte was interviewed once where he showed the interviewer all the health crap he was consuming. This was before his arrest & famous mug shot.
ReplyDeleteThat said, agreed it's likely Chevy Chase.
I was thinking Chevy Chase as well.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's Jon Hamm, otherwise it would say Emmy AND Golden award winner/nominee. Whoever it is isn't an Emmy nominee/winner or Enty would have indicated as such.
ReplyDeleteI guess technically, that would also rule Chevy out... :-\
LOL at sunnyside and her Chuck Norris joke--my kids are hooked on them too.
ReplyDeleteChevy Chase was on a few episodes of Chuck last spring, but other than that I got nuttin'.
Isn't Hugh Laurie TV A-List, being the lead of his show and all?
ReplyDeleteDitto for Robert Downey, Jr.-movie A list at this point, no?
It seems like Chevy Chase b/c of Fletch, but wouldn't Enty call him tv and movie actor?
Hugh Laurie is a British sketch comedian who has been known to lampoon new agey American health fads. If you've seen him speak, he is Cambridge-educated, highly rational and has great respect for science and for his late father, who was a physician. Plus he is (unlike many actors) pretty fatalistic about life, aging and death. Definitely not him.
ReplyDeleteOK Hugh I mean bookjacket (I kid, I kid) that was a h.ella amount if information. So OK it's NOT Hugh :D My guess is RDJ or Will Smith (Hitch).
ReplyDeletechevy was my very first thought.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's Chevy Chase. I don't really think of him as a TV actor, more like a movie actor who has done some TV.
ReplyDeletebookjacket - im a big fan too. :)
ReplyDeleteAcute Esophageal Necrosis. Learned that one watching Dr. G. Haven't a clue who it is but I think this is a good guess as to what it is. Way beyond bad breath, way beyond!
ReplyDeleteSteve Carell. He's always in people's faces when he's playing Michael Scott.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who grew up on early SNL would think of Chevy as a big tv presence. And he's on the new show Community, so that could be why this is just coming out now. You know Joel McHale would tell everyone he met about it, LOL.
ReplyDeleteOh, and there is no evolution. There are only animals that Chuck Norris has allowed to survive.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Michael C. Hall. I don't know how to rank him, but he seems successful in his shows. When he was 11, his Dad died of cancer -maybe a reason for a pill and vitamin regime?
ReplyDelete"body" of work - Six Feet Under, Dexter
Retch, name based on one of his characters - serial killer Dexter
Golden Globe nominated/winner - 3 GG nominations
