One Of These Days Britney Will Get It Right

For the second time this year Britney Spears told a crowd Merry Christmas. For the second time this year she got the date wrong. At this point I am wondering if she says it as some type of code like I am having a really bad day and when I get off this stage there better be presents or a line of dancers naked for me to look at.

I wonder if the other holidays are jealous. I mean she hasn't yelled out Happy Thanksgiving Day or Columbus Day rocks. If you are going to shout out random holidays for the hell of it, I think she should add more to it then just Christmas. What about the feats of strength and Festivus?

The wishes for a joyous yuletide season come at about 2:17 in on the first one and if you missed her Christmas shout out earlier in the year it can be found at about 50 seconds in the second video.

  2. i think she knows exactly what she's doing. i don't know WHY she's doing it, but i htink in her mind she thinks it's cute.

  3. In all fairness to her, she probably won't be seeing them again around Christmas and she just wants to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

    She's done worse.

  6. I say happy birthday sometimes when I give people something. Real gifts or if I pick lint off them or something. Maybe shes doing something similar?

  7. If she said Happy Valentine's Day she could wear her pink wig again.

If she got excited about Festivus she'd have to air her grievances and no audience has the time for her to tell those. I mean she married McFedderline... and she'd have to have the Festivus Pole and while BriBrit has never met a pole she didn't like. I think it might be a Festivus sacriledge to get pole burn from it.

  9. 'samata, Ent, still pissed her tour didn't flame out in a month like you boldly predicted?

I've seen musicians say everything from "Good morning" to "Hello Cleveland" during shows as a gag. Lemmy used to start Motorhead shows by bellowing "Set your chickens free!" Britney's just being goofy.

  10. Um .. well .. as an 75% Irish Catholic/25% German Jewish Broad [who practices neither but was initially raised Catholic] .. I will give Brit a tiny break and choose to think she merely fucked up wishing Jewish folks out there a Happy New Year - aka Rosh Hashanah - which was this weekend!

Setting: Backstage Britney Whacked World Tour
Stage Direction: Britney walks off stage with huge smile beaming at handlers

    Cue Britney

Britney: I dun good, ya'll huh! I dun reeel good!

Handler One: [stammering and fearful] Well Britney, it's jjjust .. wwwell ..

Handler Two: [interrupting, forcefully] "You said Merry Christmas!!!"

Britney: Ya, ya'll!! I dun reeel good!

Handler One: [Continuing to stammer] Ya .. Ya .. You see .. it was a-a-actually..

Handler Two: [again forcefully interrupting] Listen You Louisiana Loon!! You were supposed to say Happy New Year! It is Jewish NEW YEAR!!

Britney: [naturally aka confounded] Wuht? Ya'll mean it ain't Jeeeeewwish Chrissmus?? It's Jeeeeewish New Year?? But .. it cain't be New Year, ya'll!! Why it ain't even Janjewary!!"

Thank you .. Thank you!! I will be here all week .. Enjoy the veal or politically correct meat or vegetable of your choosing!

  11. Ya know .. sometime I think ,. "Why post this stuff?? No one will actually read what you post in the dead of night when you can't sleep, Wil!" And yet ..

    ; )

  12. Wil- I read it, just in the early morning. I snickered, and I really enjoyed that you took the time to sound out exactly how she would say it.
    Thank you.

(poor handler one, treading so lightly.)

  13. I think this is coming from a place of vanity, not craziness. She thinks that she's such a gift to her audience that if she's there in front of them, then it must be like Christmas. My husband and I use "Merry Christmas" (actually it's usually "Merry fucking Christmas" or "Christmas came early this year!" in a sarcastic way all year long, i.e. a large repair bill/credit card bill/insurance bill arrives and whoever got the mail presents it to the other with some sort of Christmas statement.

  14. I think she did it at almost exactly the same point in the song as the last time she said this...i think the only plausible explanation some people could come up with was that the firework guns (You can see them in the 2nd video) resemble snow...kinda.
