Jennifer Aniston Has A Flop - Crank Up The Publicity Machine

Last week Jennifer Aniston's latest movie bombed. It did awful much like many of her preceding movies. Whenever this happens you can be sure that the Jennifer Aniston publicity machine will start generating as many stories as possible whether or not they are true.

First OK Magazine did its quarterly article that says Jennifer is pregnant or wants to be pregnant or has thought about being pregnant and throws her on their cover announcing that fact. Of course she isn't pregnant and I doubt very much whether she will ever have kids but it makes her appear to be a sympathetic figure and therefore people love her.

Then, today Page Six ran a story saying that while Jennifer was shooting Bounty with Gerard Butler that a production assistant found Jennifer alone in her trailer crying. Why? "I need a moment. This scene reminds me of Brad and me."

Oh please. Again with the sympathy. Her publicist denied both the pregnancy story and the crying story but she still got a cover and a huge Page Six headline for the week. It is kind of funny that right after a huge bomb at the box office that she is still on the lips of the tabloids.

I understand the whole woe is me thing is her calling card and she plays it well but it has been almost four years and she has had a string of boyfriends. At what point can we stop playing this game and just have her move on with her life and judge her based on her career rather than one failed relationship? Everyone has failed relationships in Hollywood, but for some reason everyone else moves on and comes up with new angles to generate publicity or relies on their work and box office success to keep moving forward.

I don't dislike Jennifer. I think she is gorgeous and probably someone who would be fun to drink with and so I don't understand why she can;t be who she is and why we need to keep having this victim cycle repeatedly.

  1. I call bullshit on that quote by a production assistant. She can't be THAT pathetic and if so, why would she ever admit such a thing?

I think she will eventually have kids but will adopt to "keep" her body.

That movie looked like crap. Bombs happen.

  4. so sick of all things Brad/Angelina/Jennifer - it feels like i'm back in high school with all the drama. Me thinks she needs a new publicist as this whole WAH WAH is beyond dull

why don;t the gossip mags leave her alone, some of the things they print must hurt her

  8. i thought that movie looked "okay". for some reason ole girl cannot open a movie. she needs to stick with ensemble cast movies. they'll be more memorable to her fans.

I find something slightly disturbing about someone who would even allow her publicity people to constantly portray her as a pathetic victim.

  10. I don't remember her even shooting this movie - and that's only because the tabloids link her with every single costar and I can't recall any about her and this one.

I still think she'd be a good friend. A high maintenance girlfriend maybe, but still a good person. I would trust her with my spouse - man or woman.

  11. What movie was that? All of her last few movies have bombed.

I'm not exactly up on movies, considering I haven't been to the theater in 5 years...and then, it was only to see The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie...

She needs to stop dating known skirt chasers and man hos if she's ever going to get out of the tabloids, or at least have a lower profile in them.

  12. I pointed out years ago when this all happened that Jennifer Aniston has a career of going of for a long weekend with a man and coming back broken up. Proportedly by him. Happened Adam Druitz, Tate Dononvan, Brad, Vince and lastly John Mayer. I think she is one of those women who waits till she sees a crack and convinces the guy he wants to break up because she doesn't want to be the bad guy. I had a friend who did this for years. Months later the guys would end up going "what the hell just happened here?" and find themselves in a "friend" relationship with the girl. Not sure why they broke up with her in the first place. IT's brilliant really.

  13. I can't stand these type of magazines anymore. On the cover is Anniston, the Kardashians and Twilight stuff. Boring!!

(yes, it may be the pot calling the kettle black here, since I visit this place for gossip, lol)

  14. First, she needs to get a new agent and stop being in such shitty, same-as-the-last-one roles. Secondly, I have a friend who works in the biz and has been on set with her more than once and he said the girl is quite frigid. As in "don't anyone touch me, ever". She really can't toelrate being touched. Not saying she's a bad person but she has a hard to live with quirk. Explains a lot.

  15. I think her publicity machine must be looked at from the reality of Hollywood. Jennifer is forty and, at that age, most female careers in Hollywood, at least those as romantic leading ladies come to an end. Step forward Jane Fonda, Goldie Hawn, Sharon Stone, Helen Hunt etc. Secondly the performance of Jennifer's movies at the box office is, to be excessively polite, "mixed". For this Jennifer Aniston purportedly made (Forbes magazine) $25 million last year. Quite frankly, if I thought it would keep me employed as a movie lead for another year or two (and make another $50 million) I too would be perfectly willing to whore my privacy and dignity.

The last paragraph pretty much sums up my reaction to her.

  16. I don't believe any of that. Just don't. Why would she want children anyways?? It's not like she came from a family that liked children. Next we'll read she had a miscarriage.

  17. Why doesn't she just move to Wyoming and call it a career. I'm sure she could find SOMEONE out there in the real world that would love her and all that jazz, so what
is the problem? Does she HAVE to date celebrities? She should probably stop because they don't seem to work for her. Also, that's a mighty small pool to pick from, so the odds aren't that great.

I just shake my head when I hear stuff like this about her. I'm over loaded, it's too much.

I still can't believe she is still working LOL. She is a bad actress. How many flops has she had? That should be enough to make these idiot producers/directors not to hire her anymore.

Did anyone see Couger Town (I think that is what it's called)? It was a very funny show.

  19. She needs to adopt and stop pretending to date if she's still hung up on the cheating asshole that is Brad Pitt. If she's not going to do something about her desire to have a child, she needs to STFU. I'm over this one.

  20. the pr peeps are earning their keep this week. good for them! but yeah...spin the spin, the victim thing really is old.

  21. Why can't a celeb just admit they don't want to have children? I don't, I know lots of people who don't. What's the big deal?

  22. It seems to me that Jen just can't let go of that status she had, the few years she was A-list, and married to the sexiest man alive. If she wants a longer relationship, she probably would date a grip or whomever.

But Jen, IMO, is very much a gal who has to marry 'up.' They only date guys who are at least on their self-perceived 'level.'

Interestingly, Jen is in the news every week milking the sad sack thing. I don't know if it's more indicative of her being too dull for anyone to care about her otherwise, or if Brad's fame coattails are really that long.

  23. OK Magazine? Are you kidding me? The bastion of truth and the arbiter of fashion...thy name is OK!

    What a rag.

  24. I, too, am fascinated by the "poor Jennifer" syndrome. She was on one of the most popular sitcoms of all times, earned untold millions (and is still earning from the syndication - turn on your tv right now, scroll through the channels, bet Friends is on one of them, and gained worldwide fame. Sure her movies aren't great, but the fat checks don't bounce.

She dates one gorgeous man after another, travels the world, and hangs out with famous friend who actually seem to be genuine friends. Frankly, I think she's the female Clooney. Nobody's busting on his pathetic childless existence. As someone who has been very happily married for 14 years and is childless by choice, I'd weep for joy if I heard a celebrity just admit that they don't want kids and are very happy without them. God knows I'm never going to see such a character on TV in spite of the fact that there are millions of women and men just like me out there.

Maybe Jen is just afraid that if she ever said "My life is effing awesome! I'm rich and beautiful and have a smoking hot body and a boyfriend to match and almost zero responsiblily! Woo Hoo!!" everyone might hate her. And everyone might.

If she wants to revive her career, she needs to do what most other smart actresses are doing. Leave the movies, and return to television. That's where quality roles for adult women are. Sorry this post is so long.

  25. What she needs to do is get bitchy and drop the martyr act. Play a villian, go to rehab, become a hooker, get arrested for assaulting Ashlee Simpson... anything at all would be more interesting than the "I'm a pathetic spineless loser" routine. Bitchy is confident and empowering. Rock it, girl!

  26. Aniston's lead role movies always flop.
Aniston's supporting role movies always do well.
    Learn from this, Jennifer!

  27. The press can't get past the breakup and keep her in this victim cycle. I don't believe any of the press. I think she has moved on.

  28. One of the biggest things that puts me off about her is that she has filmed countless movies in the last little while, and hasn't changed her looks at all in any of them. There are pictures posted almost daily from the sets of the movies she's done, and you can't tell one from another unless she is with one of her costars. That to me signifies boring. She has made a career out of being Rachel Green, both on and off screen.

  29. i was just thinking that ^^ the other day. she always plays the same roles, has at least been smart enough to not take on dramatic roles. i don't hate on her, her movies are usually unoffensive, cheezy entertainment, and i agree that the rags and her PR people are the annoying hacks here.
i might still be hurt about how i GOT dumped, but not missing the asshole himself.
although i have to say, judging by the trailers, her new movie looks like it sucketh big time.

  30. The reason that the rags use her is that she's "Everywoman".
She strikes a chord in us collectively, whether good or bad.
We identify with her "struggles" (forgive me if I think 25 mil a year is hardly struggling) in her life.
As for her acting, I've been impressed by her before, it just doesn't happen on a regular basis.

In her defense however - the flop in question, with Gerard Butler (who yes, she was "linked with") in a review I read did give her props for her performance...it was the script and direction that crapped out, not the actors.
I agree that it's probably time for a career makeover - but then again, I'm one of the few who are completely neutral about her.

  32. THIS is what is going to happen:

Jen will wonder about her wrong men and bad relationships for the next year or so while Brad and Angie grow further apart, she retaliates by adopting a child without Brad's consent,he flips and leaves for good.
Jen, thinking this is her shot tries desperately to get back with Brad, but because he knows it wouldn't work he lets her down easy.
he remains a bachelor playboy, but great father, and Jen eventually settles down with some indie film maker and raises a Korean baby.
Angie goes to jail for illegally attaining a child from Morocco and the kids move to Lake Cuomo with Dad and Uncle George.

    the end.

    can we move on now?
