"I Can't Afford Alcohol So I Grow Pot"

I'm trying to imagine standing before a judge and telling the judge that the reason you grow pot in your house is because you can't afford booze. Amy Crowhurst who is 19 did just that in her trial for growing pot in her house. Amy was the UK's youngest mother ever as she got pregnant when she was 12 years old.

She says that parenting is tough and that she grows pot to escape the stresses of being a mother. She would rather drink booze but she can't afford it so she grows pot instead. At 15 years old she had another baby with the same father of her first child.

Police had received a tip that Crowhurst was growing pot in her home and raided the house last month. They seized several plants and processed pot as well as growing equipment. Three weeks later she was arrested again for pot possession.

She plead guilty to all the charges and was sentenced to 9 months of community service, told to enter a drug rehab course and paid a $70 fine.

She does think she is a great mom though.

  1. That sentence is a joke. I'd plead "I didn't want to go to jail forever in the US, so I moved here to grow my shit." Then I'd merrily throw $70 over my shoulder as I hauled my stoner ass to rehab.

  3. Isnt there a tax on alcohol?.. also cigarettes right? those are the 2 worst things for you and yet they tax them? you are paying money to the government for them to kill you, then you pay more money to them so you can get better? they are sucking us dry of money.. you realize that right???
    Pot should be Legal.. Period!

  5. I don't think pot is a big deal and should be legalized. Think of all the revenue governments would get via taxes. That being said I don't condone having it out where little kids can see it/get at it, though I am not sure if that is the case in this situation.

  6. Also, I forgot to add, I've never heard of someone comitting a hiest or a murder while under the infulence of pot. They can't even get to the fridge to get a drink, nevermind a crime spree.

I blame propoganda for making pot seem bad. Isn't it a FELONY in the States? lol What a waste of resources that is.

  7. I doubt she is the UK's youngest mother EVER. They used to arrange marriages for babies then consummate them as soon as the girl began her menses, sometimes earlier. Children bearing children is nothing new in the UK- as in many parts of the States.

  8. Sounds like reasonable logic to me.

  9. Blogger is being assholic today. I could use some of this little girl's weed right about now. She should start a mommy group with Rebecca. They would totally be BFF.

  11. At least she wasn't spending money meant for the baby on booze (going by what she said, she could have lied).

  14. I know many EXCELLENT parents who either smoke or grow pot. It's a far less destructive habit than drinking.

  15. Chav-scum. I like. To say "white trash" in military, you abbreviate it to "WT", which in military code is "Whiskey Tango". That kinda sounds like fun.

  16. sue ellen, i believe nixon "de-criminalized" pot. whatever the hell that meant. it's only a felony if you have over a certain amount, if you grow it for selling, or distribute, sell, or carry it onto a school campus (k-12) or (distribute, sell) to minors, have it in condensed form, blah, blah.
possession of under an ounce is $100 fine. a kilo is still a misdemeanor, and then i started to get confused. oh, and this is just california, and i'm not sure the date of this particular site, because this site still said that doctors and patients were protected from prosecution for medical prescribing, distribution and growing of pot.
    huh.
of course it's always pissed me off that TWICE the voters have spoken up to legalize medical marijuana, and the state has said, oh so sorry, we don't give a damn what the people think (prop 8 anyone?). and the current govt. has said they will continue, no matter who says what, to keep it an illegal substance under any circumstances.
which is crazy considering the financial mess we are in here. grow it, tax it, sell it. personally, it would probably help somebody like me with chronic (if managable) pain without the side effects and possible addiction problems of the pain meds they give me now.
*puts soap box back in closet*

  18. Medical marijuana is legal in Colorado. I have friends who have a store that sells it. Go figure.

Sue Ellen, if you're so worried about pot becoming legal, how about not playing into the stereotypes. I smoke weed all the damn day long and you can sure as shit bet I can get to the fridge to get myself a drink.

  20. bionic bunny-preach it sister. weed is a thousand times better than that hillbilly heroin that doctors put chronic pain patients on. That shit will blast your liver out big time not to mention the addiction problems. Weed doesn't have all of those issues.

Can't say this dingbat in the story did much for the pot smoking crowd's image. Even pot smokers think kids like this are assholes. I think this chick would be an asshole even if weed wasn't in the picture.

Oh and BTW, who in the fuck goes to rehab for weed? Rehab for weed is called being out.

  21. lol @ Blah's last line!

I agree with a lot of you - you can smoke pot and still be a great mom. I don't do either, but I used to smoke quite a bit and would also highly agree it's less destructive than alcoholism.

On a lighter note - hilarious and creative defense.

Can you read? I would like to see where I said any of that, or insinuated it. 1) I said I wish they WOULD legalize it; not worried about it. 2) I don't "give in" to any stereotype about pot what so ever, and nothing I said insinuated it. 3) Who said you can't get yourself a drink? If you'll read what I said you'll note that I said smoking pot DOESN'T make you more likely to commit crime or do things against the law, the drink part was meant to be in jest. Ever hear of humour? No? O.k
