Today's Blind Items
What Pitchfork-magazine indie-music darling swears he doesn't drink, but was seen in Brooklyn Friday night downing martini after martini? Of course, he's also said he's following up his 2005 hit album with 48 albums more along the same theme and that hasn't exactly come to pass either.
Sufjan Stevens
ReplyDeleteNot even a blind-- Sufjan Stevens of course! (I finally got one!!)
ReplyDeleteNice! A blind that I can solve! Although you know a lot of people will be like umm Who?
ReplyDeleteOh man I feel stupid for not recognizing the48 clue (album for each state, already did mich and illi). Upsets me though, his stuff is pretty fun to listen to.
ReplyDeleteHilary, i'm one of those! i'm all WHO?
ReplyDeleteAgreed: who?
ReplyDeleteAs dull & pretentious as his music then? Goodo.
ReplyDeleteSo, Surfjan Stevens is now Blind Items worthy? An indie musician drinks martinis. Must be a slow day...
ReplyDeleteI'm with in with the who crowd.
ReplyDeleteDo we care?
I can't blame a guy who'd rather drink martinis than work on a record.
Never heard of him either. Or Pitchfork. I know martinis, though! Make mine vodka mmmmmmmmmmmm! :-d
ReplyDeletemaybe they were virgin martinis
ReplyDeleteI am with the whos.
ReplyDeleteI feel really musically challenged right now. And it doesn't feel good.
ReplyDeleteWWJD, Sufjan?
ReplyDeleteFor those who say they haven't heard Sufjan before, chances you have heard him in movies/ads. without recognizing him.

He's an overrated hipster douche. I'm ashamed of myself for even knowing who he is.
ReplyDeleteI love Sufjan, but yeah, if he wants to finish the whole 50 states discography, he'd better get going.
ReplyDeleteGreat live show.
LOL. I think he's as worthy as a blind subject as some of these reality stars. I didn't know who the Gosslins were until about a month ago, but I know Sufjan. Illinoise is good, but that's all I've listened to from him.
ReplyDeleteHe's got a cool name. I'll give him that.
ReplyDeleteYeah what guttersnipey said- I cringe at the whole hipster thing but if you look at my ipod or see the concerts you would think I am one- I just prefer J.Crew to Urban Outfitters and I REFUSE to wear skinny jeans and my boyfriend wears khaki shorts and tshirts! I went to the Pitchfork Festival though! Speaking of Pitchfork they are soo pretentious I can't read it that often- which means only 1 time a day - pitchforkmedia.com
ReplyDeleteI like Sufjan and all, but I get tired when every song seems to be at least 10 minutes.
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, I think his face is perfect.
The IlliNOISE album is really great. Biased as a Chicagoan, but he's amazing.
ReplyDeleteAnd seriously, I'm not a hipster (genuine punk-rocker at heart, though at 30 and almost 31 that is sad) but I know what Pitchfork is...and it's a great music festival on top of the magazine...something everyone should hit. Might be getting a little corporate, but who gives a crap, still a good time.
If you can get over the unwashed, dreadlocked hippies, that is....
ah sufjan...
ReplyDeleteI am so bad at these that I never guess, but I would like to know if a picture of the BI person is always in the Random photos?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the big deal here?
ReplyDeleteZOMG he's drinking but says he doesn't! since his career is based on the fact he doesn't drink.....huh?
I Grew up in Cook Co & Chicago. Song topics seem obscure unless you lived there.
He has an XMAS Album.
@warmislandsun a virgin martini is w/o vermouth right... lol
ReplyDeletegood one!
He's an little, indie version of Clive Owen
ReplyDeleteYawn.
ReplyDeleteSufjan Stevens's whole schitck is that he's supposed to be a Christian rocker who's crossed over to the mainstream. Oh, and his whole little promise to record 50 albums, one themed per state. That's how I got to hearing about him in the first place. To me he's not as interesting musically as his contemporary Devendra Barnhart, but someone else might think Devendra's not as interesting as Sufjan. Anyway, he's supposed to be a "refreshing change of pace" as a clean-living Christian indie rocker but I buy that as much as I bought the story of Jack and Meg White being "brother" and "sister".
