Paula Abdul Equals Brian Dunkleman

TMZ had a little blurb today about Paula Abdul telling them she has something in the works. Yeah, yeah, I am sure she does but guest appearances do not really qualify as "in the works." At the end of the blurb they mentioned Dunkleman. I had totally forgotten about the guy and so decided to see what happened to him since he left American Idol.

Does anyone remember Brian Dunkleman? This is a guy who left American Idol voluntarily because he thought he would have a better career off the show rather than on it. Like the rest of us Paula obviously forgot about Dunkleman and what happened to his career after he decided to pull the plug on Idol. He told The Howard Stern show that he still holds a grudge against Ryan Seacrest and is jealous. You think so? You think it is any more so now that Ryan just signed a deal for $45M over three years? They were both unknown when American Idol started and now it seems like Ryan controls the world and Brian is out trying to peddle a show about his life called American Dunkleman.

  1. Do I remember him? Vaguely. Only because you posted this. That and the first season was the only season I watched.

  3. this is kinda like the guy who is upset about jerry seinfeld's success and wealth.

whatever one feels about ryan may be legit, but the boy can't be too stupid. and yeah i know that he started out as a friend of merv griffin. lol.

brian blew his chance, can't accept it and wants to be bitter about it.

  5. Dunkleman. That reminds me of the character Dusty Dinkleman from "Just Friends". "[Dinkleman] skis in his jeans! ... Dinkleman's going down!"

    Bahaha. Horrible name.

  6. I can't believe he actually admitted to being jealous. How will that confession help him or his career?

  7. robert, if he does, it clearly doesn't work. Maybe he and Jennifer Aniston go the the same witch doctor. Hmmmm????

  8. Tell him to call Pete Best.

  9. I think I just saw him in a Burger King commercial (or similar), where they were spoofing American Idol and he was the "Simon-like" judge...judging the singing of a burger. It is the perfect case of how NOT to make it in Hollywood. He and Ryan were both equals; now one is in almost every avenue of the entertainment biz, and the other is a burger-singing-contest judge. Welcome to your future career, Paula!

  10. Eh, I wouldn't say Paula equals Brian because Dunkleman wasn't known before he started Idol, whereas people have known Paula Abdul for about 20 years now.

  11. I actually liked Dunkleman! I didn't really watch Idol (and still don't), but from what I could tell, Dunkleman was the funny one - he didn't take it all so seriously.

  13. A classic case of how not to create a career in tv.

  14. i bet they chose ryan over him and decided to release a statement that 'he left on his own' to be nice..otherwise why would this dumb fuck hold a grudge?
    HE left.

  15. I was gonna say the same as Jax. Why is he angry if he left??

  16. I thought he didn't like Seacrest and thought the whole Idol thing was a farce. Am I wrong?

  17. Actually, he chose to leave feeling that his true career path was not that. He took it as a joke, and Seacrest took it seriously. That's why Seacrest is who he is. He took it seriously and parlayed it into a career. Dunkleman could have never done that. BTW, he needs a new last name. Sorry.

  18. I watched the first year of AI. Dunkleman was silly, but not as smarmy as Ryan.

Silly rabbits, Ryan called the shots and got him canned. He did the same thing to a woman from season 1 who was going to co-host for Season 2. Killed her deal WHEN she was actually working on the show. Seacrest has always been the egomaniac and insisted on being the focal point as the host. I think he is totally talentless and have no idea why he has risen to his current fame. The only things I can think of is 1) he has something on someone in power, 2) he is the male equivalent of sleeping his way to the top.

It's really interesting how they present this now as opposed to back in the day.

  19. No...seriously? Is he really trying to promote a show called "American Dunkleman"? I hope so!

And dude, you made your bed...now lie in it. Don't hate Seacrest because he was smart and you were a retard. Move on and do your own thang, sitting around being a bitch about it isn't getting you anywhere, now is it?
