Juliette Lewis Talks About Brad Pitt
Maybe I have never noticed before or maybe Juliette Lewis just doesn't give very many interviews, but this is the first time I can remember her talking about her relationship with Brad Pitt in a very long time. In an interview with Black Book Magazine she talks about her three year relationship with Brad which began when she was just 16 and ended three years later.
"It was such a lovely time in my life, well, in both of our lives, because we were anonymous. We were both struggling actors and Brad blew up after we were together, when Legends Of The Fall came out. We both had our turning points. There were six months between the release of Thelma And Louise and Cape Fear - but for half of our relationship, we were just unknown young actors in LA. Then we split and he became Brad Pitt, and I became whoever I am now."
It is hard to think of them as unknowns sitting around in LA waiting their chance at fame and wondering if it would work out. I also love how there is no blame game or any drama. She just reflects on that time in their lives and nothing more.
I've always been rather fond of Juliette Lewis.
ReplyDeletewhat a nice thing to say.
ReplyDeleteShe is an amazingly grounded woman, however weird she is.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken, she also mentioned in that interview how they basically sat around his apartment smoking pot from day to day, prior to him catapulting to fame. This is not surprising.
ReplyDeleteI loved the film Kalifornia. They were both phenomenal in that.
Yeah, Kat, Kalifornia was a great film.
ReplyDeleteShe handled that so gracefully, I will momentarily overlook the fact that she is a Scientologist.
i'm not big on either of them...they're both rather "meh" to me...but what a nice way to keep it classy. go her.
ReplyDeleteYeah, people who don't think Brad Pitt is a very good actor must have missed quite a few films - Kalifornia being one of them. He scared the crap out of me.
ReplyDeleteThat was a very nice, classy way of her to talk about their relationship. Good for her.
ReplyDeleteKalifornia is an awesome movie.... I like Pitt's older movies a lot more than the crap he's done in the last few years. Burn After Reading nonwithstanding, of course.
I wonder why her career never took off? She's worked with alot of big names but she never got HUGE.
ReplyDeleteI, too, have always liked her. She's a straight-shooter and good actor, and she has an awesome self-attitude, sense of style, and all that "different-drummer" stuff I wish I could pull off without so much repercussion.
ReplyDeleteSHE HAD THIS HOT START WITH CAPE FEAR...AND THEN......THAT INSANE MOVIE WITH RALPH FINNES, THAT'S THE LAST ONE I EVEN REMEMBER...STRANGE DAYS...STRANGE INDEED.
ReplyDeleteAND YES...CAN'T HELP BUT LIKE HER...
Honestly, I never thought she was that great of an actress earlier in her career. She basically played the same nymphette/Lolita type character up until Woody Allen (where she was still the youthful love interest, but slightly more intelligent). I can't get behind her music or her scientology.
ReplyDeleteI like this ding-a-ling.
ReplyDeleteWhen we choose parts every year to voice over Christmas Vacation I always do her lines.
Bottom line, scio or no scio, she is cool. Kalifornia was an awesome flick. Loved her small part in Old School. And she rocks, while shes no Joan Jett, she still rocks!
ReplyDeleteits not that i don't think Brad Pitt is a good actor? I don't even know why I dont like him.
ReplyDeleteLike all my guy friends think that Brad Pitt is the ideal. Probably because of Fight Club, but I would totally take Edward Norton over him any day.
Wait, but didn't she totally call him out for having a teenie weenie not that long ago..?
ReplyDeleteWait, okay, so it was late 2007.
Still, though.

Embo, LoL... maybe she needed some attention and mentioning Brad gets attention. They were together 20 years ago for crying out loud. lol I've always thought that they were weird because she was like 10 years younger than he was. As far as his acting goes... he's inconsistent...good in some horrible in others. his performance in Troy takes away any good performance he might have given in his old movies.
ReplyDeleteKalifornia was amazing and I believe the pot-smoking bit because his bit part as a stoner in True Romance was said to be his idea.
ReplyDeleteLoved Juliette in Natural Born Killers and What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
We can debate about the teeny peeny thing as Brad's been featured in FFF before, where's that link......
I remember when he was on "Dallas" for a few episodes in the late '80s as Charlie's boyfriend. (Charlie was Jenna Wade's daughter.)
ReplyDeleteI love Brad - after watching Burn After Reading I had yet another dream to solidify our relationship :)
ReplyDeleteKalifornia is terrific, and I love Juliette in Gilbert Grape and Husbands and Wives.
I would give a bunch to listen to the conversations they used to have...
We've all seen Brad's penis... It's not that small.
ReplyDeleteShe's a hoot. Can't help but like her.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I call each other Early and Adele from Kalifornia. He tells me not to carry cactus around in my purse and I tell him he's mean. Good times.
ReplyDeleteDon't care much for her at all.
ReplyDeleteYesterday rollingstone.com had a MUST HEAR TO BELIEVE video of her version of the blues. I highly recommend it. It's simply unbelievable.
She is and will always be my favorite Scientologist. Plus, she went really far in this year's Fug Madness at gofugyourself, and I thought she almost had the strength to win it.
ReplyDeleteJuliette is awesome.
ReplyDeleteLoved her in Kalifornia among many others....
love her vlog too...
"cue the giraffe!"

Giovanni Ribisi is my favourite scientologist.
ReplyDeleteI really don't like her weird whiny drawl. She seems out of it to me and her eyes don't seem big enough to be expressive. K, I'm not very eloquent right now. I'd like to like her but I don't.
Her voice is as irritating as Winona Ryders when she narrates.
isn't she high on the freaky side of the scios?
ReplyDeletealthough, halfway through kevin smith's book (agh, can't remember the name of it, it's the diary one, not "silent bob speaks"), he says she was really cool. that could change, however....
