Don't Believe The Hype - Michael Jackson Movie Will Run For Longer Than 2 Weeks

Sony sent out a press release yesterday saying that the Michael Jackson movie which is being made from concert rehearsal footage will run for two weeks and two weeks only beginning October 28. Uh huh. Tickets go on sales September 27th. Oh, and this two weeks thing applies to the whole world.

So, let me get this straight. If every ticket in every movie theatre in the world that is showing it is sold out prior to the October 28th date, then tough luck you will never get to see it? Does anyone actually believe that if the movie is #1 for its two weeks of release that it won't continue to be shown? Do you think that Michael Jackson's estate is going to just give up millions of dollars in revenue? Please. They will keep that thing in theatres as long as possible. They just want everyone to buy tickets in advance and generate a buzz.

The only other thing I can think of is that if it goes longer than two weeks DVD sales might be slow for Christmas.

  3. What, they're not going to build a theatre/mausoleum in Vegas, have Michael's corpse on display (after it's stuffed like Trigger) and run the movie 24/7 ?
Joe must not be involved in the negotiations.

  5. Didn't Michael complain about Sony when his last cd didn't sell very well? Yes, I remember him saying that Tommy Matola was a racist. I guess that's all a thing of the past.

Also they want us to buy tickets for a MOVIE a month in advance? They're telling the public to pay them UP FRONT for a MOVIE.

Don't they still have the money from the ticktets of a concert that never was because the person DIED?

My goodness his greedy family is really milking his popularity!

  6. I can't imagine very many people seeing this mess and it's so mercenary, they are making money on a dead guy who nobody has bothered to even bury decently. Even free Jesus juice couldn't entice me to see this junk to make money hungry vultures some coin they didn't earn.

Remember Joe "Ugly" Jackson saying that MJ was going to be buried on his birthday. Well now he is saying that's not going to happen. That it will be 2 days later because of some family thing.

This 2 weeks stunt turned me off seeing it altogether. How stupid do they think we are?

  11. I'm with sunnyside 1213 - I will wait for the DVD. I would love to see it but I they are going to control the release locations and I don't think it's gonna happen around here. I would rather view it without having to deal with the masses...

  12. I still cant believe that people want to revere a child molesting drug adict who happened to be able to sing and dance well. That is all he was. Why dont we give a little of this respect and admoration to the boys in Iraq and Afganistan for christ sake and let this pices of trash rot?
