Brad Pitt Trashes Tom Cruise Movie

Don't look for any movie reunion between Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise any time soon. Heck, I don't think they will even bother to pretend to be nice to each other after Brad's most recent comments about Valkyrie which starred Tom Cruise. In an interview with German magazine Stern, Brad called Valkyrie, "a ridiculous movie."

Apparently in Brad's mind, Inglorious Basterds is the be all and end all of Nazi movies. "The second World War could still deliver more stories and films, but I believe that Quentin [Tarantino, director] put a cover on that pot. With Basterds, everything than can be said to this genre has been said. The film destroys every symbol. The work is done, end of story."

I for one will be glad when I don't have to write about this movie any longer. It is nothing against the movie, but it has got to be the biggest pain to type. The only thing that compares is remembering how each celebrity Courtney spells their name. Who knew the there could be so many variations.

As for throwing Tom and his movie under the bus, I think he should go back and forth a few times.

  1. Still another reason I love Brad.

  2. I dislike both equally but Tom was better than Brad in interview with a Vampire. LoL That was some of Tom's best acting.

  3. sounds like he's joking to me or possibly still in character

  4. Tom can certainly be a jerk sometime in his interviews but at least as an actor he holds my attention when I'm watching his movies.

Brad on the other hand... not so much.

Brad should have saved this comment until Monday after proving he can open at the theater this weekend.

It's just a tad bit too soon to be so cocky.

I cosign Mika's statement- Interview With The Vampire is one of the few Tom Cruise movies I love. He was flawless as Lestat.

  6. Aw c'mon, he's doing his job and promoting the movie. I like them both as actors but if I had (and will) pick one WWII movie to watch, it'll be this one, not Valkyrie.

  7. Tom Cruise total boxoffice record is better than his, and also Cruise is a better actor.

I doubt Brad pitt would have been able to play the character of Frank T.J. Mackey from the movie 'Magnolia ' like Cruise did.

Pitt needs to sit his ass down , he is way over -hyped.

  8. Every man I know, wants to see this flick and I dont think its because Brad Pitt is in it. I asked by BF why, and he said that from the clips he has seen, it just looks good. (thats a man for ya) When TC's movie came out, he laughed and said he wouldnt even watch it on DVD, it looked so poor. I will probably take him to see it next weekend. As far as the TC as Lestat, I personally have read all of the Vampire Series and thought that BP would have a made a truer to book Lestat. TC, to me just didnt fit the character that I envisioned in my head when I read the books. Just one girl's opionion.

  9. I agree with Pixie. What I find extremely frightening is that I think I just stood up for TC. I must go take a bath....I feel dirty.

  10. Yup, my husband really wants to see it....then again, he wants to see every movie about WWII.

We are currently anxiously anticipating the start of "The Pacific" on HBO next spring.

  11. Two egomaniacs (three, if you add Tarantino). Everyone grab an umbrella, the pissing match has begun.

  12. Tom Cruise has no range as an actor. Brad Pitt is overrated, but self-deprecating and layed back. Team Brad....although I've never found him attractive.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Mika, so Tom does homoerotic well, is that acting?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Tom Cruise might be a egomaniac, but at least he's not giving some cocky statements about other people's movies just for the sake of the promotion of his own movie.

  15. Tom Cruise was horrible as Lestat. He ruined the character. I have never enjoyed him as an actor. Brad was atleast pretty enough for his role as Louis. And Anotonio Banderas as Armand stole the movie. The whole scientology thing with Tom Cruise makes him even more undesireable, and I doubted that could be the case. I am not a big fan of Brad, either, but he is more entertaining.

  16. cibele, Tom has his church goons to do any harassment and such.

  17. i think brad needs to shut up.

  18. I think Brad is just kidding around about Inglorious Basterds being the definitive Nazi movie, they are pushing this film so hard because if it doesn't pull in big money The Weinstien Company will most likely go under, they have 6 films coming out and may have to shelve them if IB doesn't deliver big money.

Brad's just caught in the middle with a Tarentino film that TWC bet the bank on.

  19. eeep. why is brad being such a little bit**? i'm not a tom fan, but i hope this comes back to bite him in the ass.

  20. Maybe it is another joke along the lines of the "... not until Clooney can gay marry too?"

  21. I think every man wants to see the movie b/c they're hooked on memories of Diane Kreuger's ass in "Troy".

I'd be more interested in this movie if it were directed by Guy Ritchie.

  22. It's violent. Shit not only blows up, but people are violently executed. Men want to see that.

Tarantino was on NPR this morning (I know, right?) talking about how the LANGUAGE of the film is so ingenious. Like, the Germans speak German! This has never happened before! He tried to sound so academic and pass his film off as one genius metaphor after another (cinema wins WWII! Genius!) And the reporter kept bringing it back to the fact it was one big gore-fest with! subtitles!

And for the record, Die Untergang is the best WWII movie.

  23. Mike Myers is in Basterds. Heard he really wanted to be in Tarantino film and was excited with his part. I could probably take or leave Brad Pitt.

  24. Der Untergang, hehe.

  25. Damn! Thanks, .robert!

  26. I only mentioned it as I hate German articles and see them as pointless. Why do you need to say der, die, das, dem, den or des instead of the (so die or der)?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Brad Pitt generally has two acting ranges he either is an self absorbed, emotionally wounded man at odds with self and the cultural norms or goofy stoner. I rented "Burn After Reading" because it was produced and directed by the Coen brothers..I loved it when he was shot...I suppose it was a reaction to his never ending staring role in the tabloids and gossip blogs.

  28. I think Brad Pitt should keep his stupid mouth shut.
He sounds so ignorant and insensitive to the subject of the movie.

Tom Cruise might the crazier one of the two and 'Valkyrie' was a total flop but Cruise is still the better actor.
Cruise was brilliant as Lestat and made Pitt who was the main character quasi irrelevant.
    Only my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Pitt is probably still in character. The only thing I ever liked him in was the movie where he played a Pikey and was unintelligable. Think it was a Guy Ritchie movie. However, they are making me work and I don't have time to look it up. Damn work.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Are you talking about Snatch? I love that movie. And I loved Fight Club, but even in this movie Brad Pitt was upstaged. Ed Norton is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hmm - I wonder what happened between Pitt and Cruise that made him make a comment like that.

I know everyone likes to hate on Tom Cruise because he is, well, crazy. But I thoroughly enjoy most of his movies.

  32. I hated Tom Cruise as Lestat. I loved the book and Lestat was suppose to be done with Rutger Hauer in mind.Think the first Hitcher movie. TommyBoy is no Rutger Hauer!

If he and Tommy retired from public view forever -- I would never miss them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Brad's new movie is SOOO overhyped and advertised I'm sick of seeing it on the tube constantly.
Can wait for cable on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  34. ardleigh, I totally agree with you, Tom did a few good movies but for the most part he is now all washed up. Rutger Hauer on the other hand will be forever a great actor..

    ReplyDelete
  35. Omg, I DIE for Rutger Hauer. I was so bummed that the studios thought he was too old to do Lestat. :(

  36. Generally speaking, I think all actors & actresses should refrain from putting down other actors & actresses, at least publicly. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if Brad Pitt's "people" make a statement that he was misquoted.

As far as acting talent is concerned, Tom Cruise is a much better actor than Brad Pitt will ever be.

  37. They all just need to learn that they're all a bunch of self-absorbed, narcissistic jerks. And super dorky! These people are grown adults acting like fools. Movie stars are what's ruining films today.
