Murder Suicide In Steve McNair Case?

Although investigators aren't saying how Sahel Kazemi died over the weekend, it seems pretty obvious to me that she shot former NFL quarterback Steve McNair four times and then killed herself. Police say they are not looking for a suspect in McNair's death so this is a pretty good indication they believe it is a murder suicide. Apparently Kazemi was under the impression that McNair was going to divorce his wife and then marry her. I'm guessing that maybe he told her that wasn't going to be the case and that could be why this all happened.

News reports today are suggesting that the first time Steve McNair's wife learned of the affair was this weekend when she also learned her husband had been killed.

All of McNair's friends say of course they had no idea he was having an affair while everyone who knew Kazemi and even her neighbors knew there was an affair happening. Kazemi's aunt told The Tennessean that the pair met when Kazemi was working as a waitress at a restaurant he frequented. "He started to talk to her a little. They exchanged phone numbers, and started dating from there."

Meanwhile TMZ has some photos of the couple on vacation at some beach, and they had reportedly been all over the country together. There were reports that the night prior to the murder, Kazemi had been arrested for DUI while she and McNair were headed home from a bar. McNair was released without being charged. In May, McNair had upgraded Kazemi from the Kia she normally drove to an Escalade. He gave it to her at a party attended by all her family so obviously some people knew about the affair.

McNair leaves behind a wife and four sons.

I love how the news refers to him as "dating" her rather than having an affair. Why? Because he was a sports hero and supposed role model?

Regardless, still a very, very sad story and my prayers go to both families.

  4. I read further into the article and man, that is a SCANDALOUS situation, considering her religious community, which is one I grew up with. Sad, sad, SAD all around.

The Escalade they were driving in was registered in both of their names as well (or so I've read).
Craziness. So sorry for his wife and kids. Agreed empyrios - definitely a crappy way to find out about your hubby.

  6. When you play, you pay. I hope his wife can get through this. And I hope he left her a ton of money.

  7. ita, faithy. i hate it that the media aren't calling a spade, a spade.

i can almost forgive mcnair for having been a raven (boo hiss), but this stepping-out-on-the-wife business is inexcusable. so tragic any way you look at it.

peace & prayers to the families.

  8. This is so sad. Sad for McNair, sad that Kazemi felt so strongly that she thought she had to KILL him in order to find relief, sad for the wife and saddest of all for the children. I hope they get a lot of love from their family and healing for the wounds this must leave.

  9. Ok IDK about the RAVEN slight but,... anyhoo those of us from BALTIMORE liked Steve. He seemed to be an all around nice guy and was heavily involved in charities that centered on/about children. His house in Tenn. was put on the market a few months ago and he hadn't been seen in public with his wife for a time. Who knows if they were or weren’t on the brink of separation. He absolutely shouldn't have been involved with a young woman and married even if it was in name only. I myself will pray for he and Jenny's souls and I will pray his wife and children find peace since they are left behind.

  10. Hey everyone! I hope we're all back from the 4th weekend in one piece and still alive!

THANK YOU ENTY FOR ALL THE REVEALS!

It's shocking about McNair and a real shame and a pity for his kids.

I always thought he was a good guy but it sounds like he was just a cheating scumbag without the balls to do what's right by his family.

  12. I hope there was an excellent insurance policy and trust for his wife and children. That would eventually lessen the pain of finding out your husband is a lying, cheating douchebag.

  13. Of course we don't know all the deets. The recent footage I saw of he and his wife together, they looked like they hated each others' guts, but we may never know the whole story...

  14. and FYI, one of the local Baltimore TV stations DID refer to the situation as McNair being found along with his 20 year old MISTRESS. I about spat out my drink. Pretty shocking to me. I hope the wife and children can move on past this situation. I for one would like to remember the good side of McNair....

  15. I read an article last night (that now I can't find) where her family said how "innocent" she was. I thought, well, she's having an affair with a married man...then killed him. I don't think I'd say she was too innocent.

  16. how obvious is that? it was the first thing my associate and i agreed upon this morning @ our (criminal defense) office.

  17. Okay, I know I have a macabre imagination. But I was thinking about this, and imagining how this girl Sahel might have grabbed the gun and shot him in a moment of the furious crazies. Then just stood there, realized what she'd done, and what her options were. Holy shoot, can you imagine? She'd know she'd get life or close to it, so she chose death instead. But it's fascinating to me to think about her mind in the moments after she killed him.

Yet another reason why it shouldn't be so easy to own a gun. I know I've had moments (when I was younger and had a hotter head) when I might have been in danger of using a gun had there been one, y'know?

  18. figgy- i bet it was more quickly than that. once shock set in she prob wouldn't have been able to shoot herself at that point. it was prob very quick and done in under a minute.

sad that she saw that as her only option...to kill in the first place.

  19. right on, vitazza.

RIP McNair, but why did you have to cheat on the fam and date a psycho no less?

I am sorry what the wife is going thru finding out her husband was having an affair. But to me when a person has an affair no matter what good you did I can not think highly of that person for the affair.

First, this is an extremely tragic situation. Four kids have been left without a father and a family must cope with their daughter's violent crime and suicide.

For those who think he got what he deserved, no one deserves death for cheating. If every cheater were murdered by his mistress, there would be few men/women left on the planet Earth. As a general rule, we need to be more careful with others' emotions. You have no idea who is going to become unhinged at the drop of a hat.

Lastly, how it is possible to date when you are married? Very interesting how most reporters/papers aren't calling her what she was, his mistress.

  22. I don't condone cheating but in no way do I think he deserved what he got. He deserved to lose half his money to his wife in a divorce. He did not deserve two bullets to the head. He seemed like a nice guy who did a lot for children's charities. The fact that he cheated on his wife doesn't erase the good he did do while he was here.

  23. ok, so he and his buddy had a fuck pad. steve's GF lived there---you know, the one he was 'in a dating relationship' (love that) with. he bought her a brand new escalade to replace her old KIA, kept his name along with hers on the title---since he was the one paying the insurance on it.
she is pulled over and is 'high' by her own admission. that was just a few days before this happened so we know she either drinks or uses drugs.
he has a wife of 12 years and 4 kids, and GF wants him to leave them.

    add gun, mix and serve.

  24. When cheating....try to avoid goldigging 20 year old psychos.

More details about Steve McNair's death are surfacing. The woman also found dead in the condo with him, Sahel Kazemi, is indeed looking like she was his mistress/girlfriend. Pictures have surfaced of the two on a romantic vacation ...
