Anonmom I could say you aren't missing anything but that would be pretty presumptuous of me.
I loved Mike's music but this is ridiculous. He died from drugs even if it was prescribed. He took the drugs because he couldn't handle the fame.
Now we are going into debt to parade him around, if he was alive he'd take more drugs just to be able to handle a simple wave to the crowd or pictures taken by the photographers and newscasters.
I say we all silently pray for his tortured soul and move on.
Peter King had it right. Michael "the Freak" Jackson was a pedophile freak and there are grown people going crazy celebrating this sick individual. Why? Because he's a good singer. That's it. I heard on the radio yesterday a fan saying how genuine Michael was. Genuine? The guy made himself look like a freak. Michael hated everything about him and that's why he transformed himself into the Elephant man that just happens to look a bit like Diana Ross. Burn in hell MJ, you pedophile scumbag!
One thing I have to wonder about - everyone everywhere goes on about how he changed the music scene and changed the way people danced. Didn't Paula Abdul help him? Or did she only help Janet?
If she didn't help Michael in the least, I apologize. But if she did, credit where credit is due.
Sorry the man died so young, sorry he had such a troubled life, and yes, he had some talent. BUT - I can attend the funerals of plenty of child molesters in my own hometown, thanks. To me, that part of him outweighs and overwhelms ANY talent he may have had. I'm amazed that people are so quick to jump on bandwagons and forget bad behavior.
Quint, about Martin B. he was commenting on ABC so I don't know if he's at the Staple Center or where he actually is but I also found out last night that apparently he's part of the NightLine crew.
The ceremony so far is a stellar event and obviously very costly.
They just panned to the brothers who all have on a sequined glove. How cute. LOL!
Babs, you know what makes me sad about this whole thing? Listening to his old songs and remembering how much fun I had as a kid singing along and imitating his dancing. Shame he did some crazy shit.
Jennifer Hudson is on right now - is she pregnant?
I know, Shakey, and I agree - the old stuff, the early stuff really brought back some fond memories when they played it this week. Unfortunately, some of the shine has worn off, though, and I just can't get as worked up about this "event" as everyone else.
Rocket it wasn't the greatest rendition. I remember hearing another version on our local jazz station that was much better.
Also John was late coming on to the stage. Don't know what the hold up was but it didn't help that his performance was just so so.
JoElla I agree. They've pulled out all of the stops for this one and so far they ONLY HAVE TRUE TALENT PERFORMANING, which is rare these days.
Jermaine did a beautiful job singing Smile and some of it was A-Cappella. It was a great reminder of the talent the Jackson brothers had and obviously still have.
ittleoleme at least it isn't a mockery like the BET awards show turned out (even though they may have had good intentions).
This really is a beautiful show but I would have been okay if we didn't have access to it and only saw clips of a private service.
I only saw the Martin Bashir interview after his death and it changed my POV about who Mike was and what he may have needed. All I saw was a once extremely talented man who's star could no longer shine because it was overshadowed by and maybe replaced by his tortured soul.
But then again I didn't know him. Maybe his soul is satisfied with the public service.
At the risk of offending anyone, I realize a pop icon has died. I get that. What I'm not getting is the coverage of this death. I mean seriously, this guy wasn't Dr. King and he sure as hell wasn't the Second Coming.
For the most part it was tastefully done. Mariah sang I'll be there, was a bit shakey to start but got better. Lionel RItchie sang so did Stevie Wonder. Queen Latifa read a poem by Mya Angelou. Magic Johnston and Kobe Bryant said something. I thought Brooke Shields gave a lovely and really personal and moving speech. Rev Al Sharpton preached, and John Mayer played his guitar. Usher totally hammed it up and cried like a baby. Jennifer Hudson was brilliant. A little Welsh kid who was in the final of Britain's Got Talent gave a belting performance of Who's Loving You. Jermaine sand Smile - pit wobbly in places but to be expected. Then the kicker was when little Paris Jackson spoke - I defey anyone not to cry at that. Unfortunately that was after the whole casst and family took the stage to sing We Are The World
i liked it. it dragged a little at the end but the music was great, the speakers were too and i thought it struck the right tone.
for everyone who's just going to keep up with the 'he's a pedophile' thing.....could you give it a rest on the day his life's being celebrated by people who loved him? i think his body of work deserves that much.
Saw the clip of Paris Jackson speaking and couldn't take it. :( She loved her daddy. No matter what anyone says about MJ, those kids lost their daddy, and they need all of our good thoughts.
NOMD. I agree with a lot of what you're saying. I think MJackson was a musical genius AND was also quite mentally disturbed. You know they always say there's a fine line between genius and madness. That interview with Bashir gave me the creeps. MJackson was either a pedophile or an adult who really didn't get what was proper with children and what wasn't. I also think he had a monster for a father, was robbed of his own childhood and that he really was never comfortable in his own skin. I can only imagine the books that will come out in the next couple of years. I can only imagine the books that will come out once Joe Jackson is gone.
Merlin, hey i get what you're saying. i was too young to remember what it was like when Elvis died, but if it were in 2009 we'd be doing the same thing. its just much more heightended today because of the web and the paparazzi interest. i think the difference in this is that MJ really did touch my generation the world over. you couldn't say that about Kanye or Justin Timberlake, well not yet anyway. in 1983 MJ WAS music. no one else could even come close to what he was doing. and everything after was inspired by him, by the way he made music, danced and performed. RIP.
agree, jax. you take everything else away---the whitening of his skin, the plastic surgery, the ALLEGATIONS (found NOT GUILTY by a jury), bubbles the chimp, etc.-----forget all that.
that music will live forever. even the shit talkers can't take that away from him. the guy was a genius and i think that should be celebrated, especially considering the shitty state of music today.
Wow. So I just saw the clip of his daughter speaking. Devastating. Absolutely devastating. Why? Because the cycle continues. Did you see how they were encouraging her to "speak up honey, speak up" and kept getting the microphone to her mouth? Shit. The kid lost her dad. How about you NOT put her on stage. That just made my skin crawl. When my dad died no one dared to put me in front of a microphone to speak at the memorial. And if someone says she wanted to do this I would really , really question the validity of that statement.
littleoleme - I wonder if that was a good idea as well. He kept his kids out of the public eye for so long and to have her speak in front of the world, basically, you'd have to wonder if he would have been really angry with that.
As for the coaching on the use of the mic, I think it just came out of Janet's mouth.
What killed me was that the eldest sat there chewing gum nearly the whole time. Looked like he had the whole "yeah whatever" thing going on.
In regards to Paris speaking when I saw it my first reaction about the family telling her to speak up was not good.
However if I look at it from another angle perhaps she was whispering to them saying she wanted to talk and they were merely trying to help her with the mic.
re: paris, it seemed innocent. before the clip, if you watched the whole thing, one of the brothers says that JANET is going to say something, and then janet says that actually paris wants to say something, and she walks to the mic. it didn't look like they were forcing her at all. as for the older son, he didn't look "whatever" in my opinion, when paris broke down and hugged janet he leaned in and hugged her as well. he just seemed stoic.
and god damn he was found NOT GUILTY of child molestation, doesn't that say anything? whatever your opinion the man was the greatest performer that ever lived and as we were reminded, in the guiness book of world records for the pop star who supported the most charities.
you know we do a lot of shit talking about celebrities on this site and i guess this incident is no different, but a lot of these celebrities haven't done one fraction of the things that michael jackson has done as a humanitarian, no matter what people have accused him or found him guilty of in their own mind. and i think that aspect deserves a little respect.
nancer- i hope that I have millions of strangers mourning me on the day of my funeral but it's just not gonna happen. If people remember me as an asshole then I must have pissed off a lot of people, right?
Either way, you can relax because it seems that for every person who doesn't respect MJ, there are about 100 people who idolized him (a fact i would not have even believed if not for his untimely death). But idolizing is just not my thing, no matter who the celeb is. I never recognized MJ as a humanitarian and have yet to hear actual valid examples of all the good things he did for mankind, other than the moonwalk....
When i think of real humantarians who did so much and were yet so humble all their lives, and compare their memorial services to his, I am pretty disappointed. MJ didn't do much to impress me and nothing of that since about 1994.
So let the mourners mourn, and let us who want to be a little sickened about it be sickened. There's no point in telling people not to voice their opinions though, because it won't happen. If you're too sensitive to handle what some people want to say then don't read the posts.
To each hos own opinion....but to all of you who have nothing but negative things to say...you are all a bunch of idiots. Probably a bunch of racist white bastards that have nothing better to do but to b@tch and complain because all the attention is on something you do not agree with. Whether you like it or not, Michale Jackson has changed plenty in the 28 years of his career. He gave more money out at one time to help people then all of you people's combined incomes for several years. He was NEVER comvicted of the child charges...of course the kid would be white with parents whom probably saw an oppertunity to make a quick buck. And if any of you knew anything, it was admitted by MJ's p.r people that 90% of all the older controversial topics that the media ate up so well, was actually planned by MJ..... yes he made things up to be in the news and it obviously worked, because people like you "G" still talk about him today! MJ is and always will be an iconic figure whos name will out live your entire family tree from now till the end. Leave the man alone and stop F@cking hating!!!!!
Jungle007.....you must be an idiot....to say this list of almsot all of MJ's contributions in "not impressive" bet you can't name one charity you have given too.

Well done. I was a fan as a child, but I hadn't thought about him much lately. I'm not one usually moved to post on message boards, but even I was surprised at the level of charity work he was committed to and with which he followed through.
For all of his problems/faults, all anyone can say is that he was human (and NONE of us could withstand the level of scrutiny he was subjected to and come out smelling like a rose. NONE of us). However, most of us are and will continue to be embarrassed by, humbled by, and envious of those who do truly great things. C'est la vie to what people make of his personal life. His charity work will be a remarkable legacy and that was a truly great thing.
THANK YOU.....ARMY_RANGER FOR STATING THE FACTS ABOUT THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER THAT EVER LIVED....ITS SAD THAT THESE GROWN ASS PEOPLE LIKE G AND JUNGL007 HAVE SOO MUCH NEGATIVE SHIT TO SAY ABOUT A MAN THAT THEY HAVE NEVER MET OR GOT A CHANCE TO KNOW...WHY SPEAK OF SOMEONE THAT WAY ON THE DEAD THEY ARE BURIED? DAMN YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO HEART...I BET YALL ALL SOME RACIST ASS CRACKERS WHO DONT LIKE WHEN A MAN IS LOVED AND CHERISHED FROM ALL OVER THE GLOBE CUZ HES A BLACK MAN..JUS LIKE OBAMA..BUT WE KNOW WHO THE PRESIDENT IS..HOW CAN YOU BE SO UNGODLY!! IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE "HEARD" FROM THE "MEDIA" THEN DONT POST A COMMENT...BUT NONE OF YALL KNOW OR EVEN HAD THE CHANCE TO MEET SUCH A GREAT PERSON..I BET IF U HAD THE CHANCE TO MEET AND EVEN IF U DID OR U DIDNT WANT TO THERE WOULD BE A FAN SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO YOU THAT WOULD LITERALY KILL YOU TO TAKE YOUR PLACE TO MEET HIM...AND THATS JUST TO MEET HIM...IM SORRY BUT IF I DIDNT LOVE HIM OR NOT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A MAN LIKE THAT SOME TYPE OF RESPECT.... U SWEAR YOU PEOPLE LIVED NEXT DOOR TO MJ AND YALL HAVE THE MOST HORRIBLE THINGS TO SAY...VERY IGNORANT!!!
I must be honest...I am only 25 and only listened to a select songs of MJ's catolog. But it does not matter. I hav read and seen what MJ has done. My wife is a huge fan of MJ. I did not realize how many US Presidents MJ has been invited to be with. Bill Clinton, JFK, Obama.... Hell even Russian gov. Officials, France, Japan. The man has been to sooo many countries...Africa, all over Europe, China, Japan, and the list goes on. And everywhere he went, he was loved. I just hate when a "small" and I do mean small group of people bash him. I can understand if the man was proven guilty of said crimes, but as I said and firmly believe in...MJ was a victim of a family trying to make some damn money. Michael Jackson has been been in this business sine 5 years old, never had a childhood, was beat and worked to death by his father...but still came out on top. Countless grammies (8 in one night, a record to not yet be beat), world record holder for guiness book for the MOST cheritable artist of all time, and don't even mention how many number 1 songs, platnium albums, and the list goes on. I am not a man to "idolise" either, but I know great, and MJ is great!!
DAMN WELL SAID AGAIN ARMY_RANGER!!!BUT IF WE WERE TALKIN ABOUT ELVIS YOU WOULDNT HEAR ALL THIS NEGATIVITY..AND NOT TO MENTION THAT ELVIS HAD AN ALCOHOL PROBLEM AND ALL THE MEDICATION DRUGS HE TOOK...BUT ITS FUNNY HOW THE "MEDIA" DIDNT SHOW THAT SIDE OF HIM...THATS HOW U KNOW RACISM STILL EXSIST
you can admire someone and appreciate their contribution to music without 'idolizing' them. i never said michael jackson was perfect. he was human and like us all, flawed, but he was also brilliant.
just get off his case on the day of his funeral. it's disrespectful and it makes you look heartless and cruel. start hating him again tomorrow if you must. today, leave him alone and let him rest in peace.
As for calling me a racist cracker, haha... i am half black and you can tell that clearly by looking at me. Unlike MJ. And DAMN proud of blacks like Obama who give all black people a good name. I am disappointed in MJ for trying to hide from the fact he was also a man of color. I have never thought of him as a black man. Maybe as a child and teenager, but not as a man.
Army ranger, You forgot to mention all the great things he did at the Neverland Ranch.
I don't need to validate myself- and obviously I have not donated to as many charities (or recieved the tax breaks and publicity for doing so), but i do my part and don't expect any recognition for any of the things I do.
I could waste my time copying and pasting all the bad press he has gotten over the years, but I'm over it. You win. Now please, please stop copying and pasting.
My opinions have not changed and I have much much more to say, but I will not egg you on any further because it obviously means a lot to you and it really doesn't mean much to me. I was just putting my 2 cents in. As far as I'm concerned i can think what i want. Why do you even care?
and cocotwin.... you need to relax. You just made a whole whack of allegations about me and the person sitting next to me. Ass.
JUNGLE FEVER OR WHOEVER YOU ARE...IF YOU WERE ANY OF BLACK AND PROUD TO BE IT LIKE ME AND MJ..100%BLACK NOT WATERED DOWN,,,THEN U WOULD NOT TRY TO TEAR DOWN AND SPEAK SO NEGATIVELY ABOUT OUR BLACK HERO- WHICH I AM PROUD TO SAY..IM CALLM I JUST HATE RACISM OR ANY FORM OF RACISM AND JUDGING SOMEONE OFF OF HEARSAY AND MEDIA IS A FORM OF RACISM...IF YOU WERE BLACK LIKE ME YOU WOULDNT GIVE A RATS ASS WHAT HE DID IN HIS PERSONAL LIFE YOU WILL HONOR AND RESPECT THE MAN THAT HAS TOUCHED, CHANGED, INFLUENCED AND CONTRIBUTED TO BLACK COMMUNITIES AS WELL AS THE WORLD. EVERY BLACK PERSON I KNOW IS REPPIN FOR MJ EVEN IF THEY DONT LIKE..WHY BECAUSE HE IS A BLACK HERO...JUS LIKE BARACK AND SOME BLACK PEOPLE DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHO HE WAS RUNNIN FOR PRES. BUT THEY KNEW THEY WAS CHOOSIN HIM ON ELECTION DAY...SOME THINGS ARE JUS A GIVEN WHEN YOUR BLACK...BUT YOU DONT REALLY FEEL ME CUZ YOU DONT ENDURE THE ISSUES AND PAIN THAT A REAL BLACK FAMILY GOES THROUGH LIVING IN WHITE AMERICA...BLACK MOMMA BLACK DADDY LIVIN IN THE INNERCITY TRYING TO SURVIVE- JUS LIKE MJ WHEN HE WAS BORN...I DNT GIVE A FUCK WHAT COLOR HE IS ON THE OUTSIDE!! AND BY THE WAY HE WAS VERY PROUD TO BE A BLACK MAN, YOU NEED TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON MJ TO SEE HOW REALY OF A BLACK PERSON HE WAS (BEING A PART OF THE N.O.I.)REALLY SHOWS AND PROVES TO ME WHY I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. AND WOULD RIDE FOR MJ AS A BLACK WOMAN ANY DAY!! AND IF YOU DONT CARE AND ALL THAT SHIT- WHY ARE EVEN ON THIS BLOG= GO READ ABOUT FARRAH FAWCET!! THIS SECTION IS FOR MJ FANS!!
cocotwin: How can you claim to "HATE RACISM OR ANY FORM OF RACISM" and yet use the word "CRACKER(S)". It isn't one rule for you, and another for everyone else. Get off your high horse and learn about equality. Also i don't take kindly to you disrepecting people because they are not "100%BLACK". Talk about elitism! FYI you can be proud of where you came from, regardless of how 'watered down' you are. Obviously you didn't watch that episode of Family Guy.
If MJ "WAS VERY PROUD TO BE A BLACK MAN" then why did he try to erase all of the African-American aestetics he was born with? Why was his hatred so strong that he turned from a beautiful man into a freak-show?
"AND IF YOU DONT CARE AND ALL THAT SHIT- WHY ARE EVEN ON THIS BLOG= GO READ ABOUT FARRAH FAWCET!! THIS SECTION IS FOR MJ FANS!!"
GTFO - this isn't YOUR blog just because Enty is talking about MJ in a single post, and you happen to be a fan. This is ENTY'S blog. Who the fuck are you to tell a valuable member on here to get off this blog?!
Go troll somewhere else if this is your mentality. This blog isn't for the crazies.
I can't wait until school starts again. Freaking children should be outside playing.
O.J. was found to be innocent too. Just saying. Also, how many company executives have been found to be innocent of ripping people off, stealing from their own employees etc. For some, an innocent verdict doesn't mean the party was innocent. Just that they could afford big $$ lawyers or even bigger payouts to keep people quiet.
Thank you stiffkittens- it's posters like you that make me feel comfortable to voice my opinions. I appreciate that someone got my point.
Cocotwin- I don't choose who i admire based on the color of their skin. You are trying to make me feel that I don't have a say because my mother is not black.... I am the same mix as the president of your country, but to you he is a black hero and I am watered down? Why is that?
If, say, O.J or Michael Vick ran for president, I'm sure in your opinion they would be worthy of your vote, simply because they are black. Black victory is when a noble person gains the credit they deserve, not just when a black person has money and power.
I have been the victim of racism by BOTH black and whites my whole life, (in fact, as recently as yesterday- thanks to you) but I am not going to sit here and cry about it, because that has also made me as resilient and strong as I am. I dislike MJ, he is not my hero, and yes, I am sick of hearing about it. I want to hear about real news when I turn on my t.v. Michael jackson's death is definately noteworthy, but I will always remember him as I thought of him during his life. I am not going to worship him now because he died and he was black once upon a time. I give praise where praise is due, not because of race..
I know I won't be the only one to say this but if you take the time to read any of cocotwin's posts you'll quickly realize they are all a bad joke or made up. Don't bother addressing them. They're not worth your time.
Thank you for all that Army_Ranger. Whatever anyone's opinion, it's tactless to speak ill of the dead. Period. Finally - you should all know that MJ was treated by a doctor for YEARS for vitiligo - most people are well aware he had skin pigmentation problems which resulted in his having to over-compensate with bleaching. Can we leave him alone now?
You know, Cher told an interesting story on Larry King Live the night that Michael Jackson died. She called in to say what a nice kid he was and it was great to have the Jackson 5 on her show. She then recalled another night when there was some party on a boat and Michael Jackson was there too. She said he was nice and they danced. She then said that later in the evening someone came up to her and said "Michael Jackson is going to drastically change his appearance" and when the guy told her what MJ was planning to do Cher lost it on this guy and said "this is how gossip and shit gets started." She basically called this person out for talking bull. When Larry King asked what the guy had said to her Cher said "He said that Michael Jackson was planning to undergo a procedure to turn his skin white".
That was in 1975-76. So how about we drop the vitiligo story.
Lilolme....get off the fact MJ bleached his skin. Whether he had a skin problem or just out right bleached himself, what the hell does it matter?? Self improvment through medical and cosmetic surgery has been a part of American culture for quite some time. In the last decade there has been more technology advancement in this area then there has been for curing diseases. If you are going to down 1 person, then you must also take time to down EVERY women that has had breast implants, perm. cosmetics like lip color, botox, eyeliner...and there are a lot. My wife is licensed to do perm cosmetics and even at the ridiculous rates for these things ( tattoo lip color is about $700) women come and have them done a lot. You must talk down to anyone that has had a nose job, a scar removed, or a mole removed. So what if he lied about it, plenty of people have these things done and lie about it...its a self esteem issue, not one to be turned into a media circus. The problem is, this man happened to be famous so everything had to be blown up. Mainly because its an item that will sell newspappers and mags. Hell the media says Tupoc is still alive, Elvis wasn't and alcoholic ( or the addiction wasn't that bad ) and Bill Clinton "only" let monica give him head. The war in Iraq and Afgan is really for peace and balance in the region..well you know what..I've been to Iraq and Afgan, spent 2 years of my life baking in those god foresaken deserts..and yea, it ain't about peace and balance. The bad thing is, the man is dead and people still can't just leave him alone. One person on this blog even went as far as saying he didn't think of him as a black man...just becasue he colored his skin means he was hidding who and what he was?!? Really, jees people. As far as the whole kid issue goes, MJ made some bad choices. The man never had a childhood so he ended up finding comfort in being around children. When your 5,6,7,8 years old even through teen years, it is perfectly fine to have friends over to spend the night and to bullsh%t around. MJ was acting those years out..granted it is not proper for a grown ass man to have kids spend the night and maybe he should have seen a phyc. for theropy, but it does not mean he fondled any kids. Ofcourse, it is easy for people like you on this blog to go ahead and assume the worst because OMG thats what the paper said he did, when it could be just as likely that the boy and his parents made it up to get money. This isn't like a murder trial (oj) this was a boy's and his parents word against Michael Jackson..the super star with money. Hell, my own son could go to the cops and say I touched him, who are they going to believe, the child or his father?? A child could say a doctor touched him or her in a nasty way...who are people going to believe..the child or the doctor?? There was actually a case study done on that very issue on A&E a few years ago. Hell if the media came out and said MJ was gay, or had a tail, I bet you all would believe it!! People these days are so blind even with their eyes open. Let MJ rest, if he did bad things in his life, well he will surely pay for it now. And if he didn't well he's good then...who knows? R.I.P Michael J. Jackson
So your saying that making yourself look white is "self-improvement"? I'm not the only person who thinks he looked better before the whitening, when he was BLACK. And yea, that's right, i don't think of him as a black man. I had actually forgotten that he was a black man and not a white woman or some kind of alien until you reminded me.
So would you have let your son spend the night with him at neverland? Have a shower with him and drink some jesus juice?
And no, we're not all sheep. The caliber of people that post on here for the most part seem to make their own decisions about what they believe is true and what's bullshit. Rumors are for high school. Smart people seek out proof and validation to make an informed decision. And CDANers are SMART PEOPLE (mostly).
for MJ, making himself white might have been self improvement who knows? and personally, no I would not let my child spend the night with ANY adult other them family, but that is how my wife and I are. Hell he's 9 and barely had his first sleep over. Now the parents of the kids that let thier children spend the night...well that right there should make any person wonder if there was a motive behind it..and obviously there was. Money. Any when I talk about MJ, i too tend to retreat back to his pre whitening days. He should have stopped in 93-94, that was right before he started getting ridiculous with the body altering...again, his choice. The man needed to seek theropy for the things he had to deal with and never did and it had its consequences, but I can not deny MJ of his greatness and what his MUSIC did. Despite the bad press, no one can take away the fact that what he did with music connected people around the world. For that I will miss MJ. The rest of the crap..and that is just what it is..crap...does not matter to me. For one, I didn't know him personally to hold ANY type of judgement. Some people out there talk about him (good and bad) as if they had dinner with MJ on a daily basis. I'm merely stating the positive things about him since everyone seems to want to prey upon the he said she said. Did he touch the child...no one will know, but did he donate billions of dollars and hundreads of hours to well over 500 charities around the world..yes. Did he bleach himself or did he have the skin problem, or was it both...who really knows. Did his Music connect people around the world and open doors for todays black entertainers..yes. Are his 3 kids really his (dna could tell) but until someone wants to do a dns test..who knows. Did MJ love and take care of his children, biolgically his or not..well from the looks on thier faces and the way the 11 year old paris acted and from what she said..I dare say yes.
Wish I could watch it, but our IT guy keeps stalking around the office. Bah!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThanks, but no thanks. I've seen/heard enough about him.
ReplyDeleteAnonmom I could say you aren't missing anything but that would be pretty presumptuous of me.
ReplyDeleteI loved Mike's music but this is ridiculous.
@ NOMD....agreed!
ReplyDeleteThanx Enty for posting tho!
Thanks vitazza. By the way Smokey Robinson gave an introduction if you could call it that, left the stage and now no one's on the stage.
ReplyDeleteNobody knows what's going on so the reporters are stuck trying to hold conversations about him until some type of ceremony begins again.
I must say Martin Bashir should have been banned from this "memorial" service.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I have to wonder about - everyone everywhere goes on about how he changed the music scene and changed the way people danced. Didn't Paula Abdul help him? Or did she only help Janet?
ReplyDeleteIf she didn't help Michael in the least, I apologize. But if she did, credit where credit is due.
oh for god's sake, let the man have his service in peace for one FUCKING day.
ReplyDeleteG- do some research and get some tolerance. Both would do you good.
paula abdul worked with janet.
ReplyDeletenomd, mj was addicted to drugs. he didn't necessarily take them because he couldn't handle the fame.
ReplyDeleteJax?
ReplyDeleteYou want me to have tolerance for a pedophile? Why, because you are a pedophile too? Is that why?
are you kidding me, martin bashir is there? i am at work and can't watch anything.
ReplyDeletehas martin bashir interviewed any other celeb after that mj interview?
Quint, I know he was addicted to the painkillers but he was also on antidepressants because of his emotional problems.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea why he would take the anesthesia if he did in fact take it.
ReplyDeleteQuint, about Martin B. he was commenting on ABC so I don't know if he's at the Staple Center or where he actually is but I also found out last night that apparently he's part of the NightLine crew.
ReplyDeleteThe ceremony so far is a stellar event and obviously very costly.
They just panned to the brothers who all have on a sequined glove. How cute. LOL!
G - yes, Jax is a pedophile. Of course, that's it. What a fucking ridiculous and ignorant thing to say.
ReplyDeleteJax and Rocket the resident MJ troll has made an appearance today. It's hungry. Don't feed it.
ReplyDeleteBabs, you know what makes me sad about this whole thing? Listening to his old songs and remembering how much fun I had as a kid singing along and imitating his dancing. Shame he did some crazy shit.
ReplyDeleteJennifer Hudson is on right now - is she pregnant?
Yes Jennifer is 8 or 9 months pregnant.
ReplyDelete@ NOMD - yes, thank you. I needed the reminder. *deep breath* ;)
ReplyDeleteI know, Shakey, and I agree - the old stuff, the early stuff really brought back some fond memories when they played it this week. Unfortunately, some of the shine has worn off, though, and I just can't get as worked up about this "event" as everyone else.
ReplyDeleteRocket you're welcome. :)
ReplyDeletelol, god it will be nice when school is back in session!
ReplyDeleteI think they are doing a great job with this personally.
ReplyDeleteI can't watch the memorial since I'm at work, but I've read that John Mayer just ruined "Human Nature" - anyone??
ReplyDeleteI thought it was well done - he didn't sing. He played the guitar. Nice, subtle performance.
ReplyDeleteUsher is a tool.
NOMD - couldn't agree more with your first comment.
ReplyDeleteRocket it wasn't the greatest rendition. I remember hearing another version on our local jazz station that was much better.
ReplyDeleteAlso John was late coming on to the stage.

ReplyDeleteittleoleme at least it isn't a mockery like the BET awards show turned out (even though they may have had good intentions).
ReplyDeleteThis really is a beautiful show but I would have been okay if we didn't have access to it and only saw clips of a private service.
I only saw the Martin Bashir interview after his death and it changed my POV about who Mike was and what he may have needed. All I saw was a once extremely talented man who's star could no longer shine because it was overshadowed by and maybe replaced by his tortured soul.
But then again I didn't know him. Maybe his soul is satisfied with the public service.
ok, i totally lost it when MJ's little girl came out and said how much she loved him and that he was the best dad in the whole world.
ReplyDeleteyou have to be a heartless bastard not to feel for that little girl.
RIP.
Rocket- i watched from cnn.com at work without issue.
At the risk of offending anyone, I realize a pop icon has died. I get that. What I'm not getting is the coverage of this death.
ReplyDeleteI mean seriously, this guy wasn't Dr.
ReplyDeleteJermaine sand Smile - pit wobbly in places but to be expected.
Then the kicker was when little Paris Jackson spoke - I defey anyone not to cry at that.
Unfortunately that was after the whole casst and family took the stage to sing We Are The World
phew....
Miss P- I thought that song was called Heal the world? Maybe I've been hearing it wrong.. either way it was nice.
ReplyDeletek.. I know someone will be pissed at this but I gotta say it...
Can the reporters please stop saying things like:
"Michael touched each and every one of us in one way or another" ??
Cuz it's kinda weirding me out a lil bit.
I think they sang them both Jungle - they sound fairly similar too
ReplyDeleteMuch prefer all the Jackson5 stuff and the pre-1990s stuff
i liked it. it dragged a little at the end but the music was great, the speakers were too and i thought it struck the right tone.
ReplyDeletefor everyone who's just going to keep up with the 'he's a pedophile' thing.....could you give it a rest on the day his life's being celebrated by people who loved him?
i think his body of work deserves that much.
Saw the clip of Paris Jackson speaking and couldn't take it. :( She loved her daddy. No matter what anyone says about MJ, those kids lost their daddy, and they need all of our good thoughts.
ReplyDeleteNOMD.
ReplyDeletewell said Nancer and Anonmom.
ReplyDeleteMerlin, hey i get what you're saying. i was too young to remember what it was like when Elvis died, but if it were in 2009 we'd be doing the same thing. its just much more heightended today because of the web and the paparazzi interest. i think the difference in this is that MJ really did touch my generation the world over. you couldn't say that about Kanye or Justin Timberlake, well not yet anyway. in 1983 MJ WAS music. no one else could even come close to what he was doing. and everything after was inspired by him, by the way he made music, danced and performed. RIP.
agree, jax. you take everything else away---the whitening of his skin, the plastic surgery, the ALLEGATIONS (found NOT GUILTY by a jury), bubbles the chimp, etc.-----forget all that.
ReplyDeletethat music will live forever. even the shit talkers can't take that away from him. the guy was a genius and i think that should be celebrated, especially considering the shitty state of music today.
ReplyDeleteI agree with littleoleme - Paris shouldn't have been used that way on stage.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for his children because they lost their dad. I also feel sorry for the children he molested.
littleoleme - I wonder if that was a good idea as well. He kept his kids out of the public eye for so long and to have her speak in front of the world, basically, you'd have to wonder if he would have been really angry with that.
ReplyDeleteAs for the coaching on the use of the mic, I think it just came out of Janet's mouth.
What killed me was that the eldest sat there chewing gum nearly the whole time. Looked like he had the whole "yeah whatever" thing going on.
some of the people posting here----i really hope nobody talks about what an asshole you are on the day of your funeral. i mean that, too.
ReplyDeletelittleoleme we are in agreement.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to Paris speaking when I saw it my first reaction about the family telling her to speak up was not good.
However if I look at it from another angle perhaps she was whispering to them saying she wanted to talk and they were merely trying to help her with the mic.
Wow. What a bunch of idiots.
ReplyDeletere: paris, it seemed innocent. before the clip, if you watched the whole thing, one of the brothers says that JANET is going to say something, and then janet says that actually paris wants to say something, and she walks to the mic. it didn't look like they were forcing her at all. as for the older son, he didn't look "whatever" in my opinion, when paris broke down and hugged janet he leaned in and hugged her as well. he just seemed stoic.
ReplyDeleteand god damn he was found NOT GUILTY of child molestation, doesn't that say anything? whatever your opinion the man was the greatest performer that ever lived and as we were reminded, in the guiness book of world records for the pop star who supported the most charities.
you know we do a lot of shit talking about celebrities on this site and i guess this incident is no different, but a lot of these celebrities haven't done one fraction of the things that michael jackson has done as a humanitarian, no matter what people have accused him or found him guilty of in their own mind. and i think that aspect deserves a little respect.

ReplyDeletenancer- i hope that I have millions of strangers mourning me on the day of my funeral but it's just not gonna happen. If people remember me as an asshole then I must have pissed off a lot of people, right?
ReplyDeleteEither way, you can relax because it seems that for every person who doesn't respect MJ, there are about 100 people who idolized him (a fact i would not have even believed if not for his untimely death).
ReplyDeleteJungle007.....you must be an idiot....to say this list of almsot all of MJ's contributions in "not impressive" bet you can't name one charity you have given too.

ReplyDeleteWell done.
ReplyDeleteI must be honest...I am only 25 and only listened to a select songs of MJ's catolog.
ReplyDeleteDAMN WELL SAID AGAIN ARMY_RANGER!!!BUT IF WE WERE TALKIN ABOUT ELVIS YOU WOULDNT HEAR ALL THIS NEGATIVITY..AND NOT TO MENTION THAT ELVIS HAD AN ALCOHOL PROBLEM AND ALL THE MEDICATION DRUGS HE TOOK...BUT ITS FUNNY HOW THE "MEDIA" DIDNT SHOW THAT SIDE OF HIM...THATS HOW U KNOW RACISM STILL EXSIST
ReplyDeleteyou can admire someone and appreciate their contribution to music without 'idolizing' them. i never said michael jackson was perfect. he was human and like us all, flawed, but he was also brilliant.
ReplyDeletejust get off his case on the day of his funeral. it's disrespectful and it makes you look heartless and cruel. start hating him again tomorrow if you must. today, leave him alone and let him rest in peace.
Oh boy! I guess I asked for that, didn't I?
ReplyDeleteAs for calling me a racist cracker, haha... i am half black and you can tell that clearly by looking at me.
ReplyDeletecocotwin: How can you claim to "HATE RACISM OR ANY FORM OF RACISM" and yet use the word "CRACKER(S)". It isn't one rule for you, and another for everyone else. Get off your high horse and learn about equality.
ReplyDeleteAlso i don't take kindly to you disrepecting people because they are not "100%BLACK".
ReplyDeleteJust saying.
ReplyDeleteCocotwin- I don't choose who i admire based on the color of their skin.
The idea of that just seems racist to me.
I know I won't be the only one to say this but if you take the time to read any of cocotwin's posts you'll quickly realize they are all a bad joke or made up. Don't bother addressing them. They're not worth your time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all that Army_Ranger. Whatever anyone's opinion, it's tactless to speak ill of the dead. Period.
ReplyDeleteFinally - you should all know that MJ was treated by a doctor for YEARS for vitiligo - most people are well aware he had skin pigmentation problems which resulted in his having to over-compensate with bleaching.
ReplyDeleteThat was in 1975-76. So how about we drop the vitiligo story.
Then call his doctor and family liars.
ReplyDeleteNo problem. They've covered up his drug addiction for years.
ReplyDeleteLilolme....get off the fact MJ bleached his skin. Jackson
ReplyDeleteSo your saying that making yourself look white is "self-improvement"? I'm not the only person who thinks he looked better before the whitening, when he was BLACK. And yea, that's right, i don't think of him as a black man. I had actually forgotten that he was a black man and not a white woman or some kind of alien until you reminded me.
ReplyDeleteSo would you have let your son spend the night with him at neverland?
