Blind Items Revealed

#1 & #2 - This movie is in the final stages of production but has hit some big delays. The movie stars this A list tween star (A list only refers to his tweenness) as he attempts to break out into completely different roles. The problem the production is having is that they keep trying to get songs contributed for the movie and every artist just laughs and says no when they find out who the movie stars. At this point, the movie is just going to be filled with songs of anyone who says yes no matter who it is.
#3 & #4- This A+++ lister from days gone by was an Academy Award nominee/winner? and no one will have any doubts he was an A lister. Anyway, back in the day, this actor was also the man you turned to when LSD was just making its way into Hollywood. Everyone wanted to try it and this actor was about the only person who could supply it. It is said he used it almost everyday from the time he first tried it. That could explain why he didn't work much, if at all after first trying it, despite being in his earning years still. He was once married to a C list actress who has one of the most remarkable true life experiences ever.
#1 - 17 Again
#2 - Zac Efron
#3 - Cary Grant
#4 - Betsy Drake
Can someonw clue me in to Betsy Drake's life experience? I missed something... :(
ReplyDeletemany people were right!
ReplyDeleteShe survived the sinking of the Andrea Doria.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the experience:
ReplyDeleten 1956, Drake survived the sinking of the Italian ocean liner the Andrea Doria. At the time she was a first-class passenger on her way back from visiting Grant in Spain. In a bizarre coincidence, Drake was rescued from the sinking of the Andrea Doria by the ship the Ile de France.

ReplyDeleteNot only did she survive the sinking o the Andrea Doria, she was rescued by the very same ship she emigrated to America on as a child - the Ile de France.

ReplyDeleteShe survived the sinking of the Andrea Doria.
ReplyDeleteIt's the Isle de France. Wiki has a typo.
ReplyDeleteWiki also mentions that Cary credited Betsy with introducing him to 'LSD THERAPY!!!' As in, for mental disorders! I'm curious, because I've never done LSD and I'm sure I have numerous mental disorders-----has anyone had positive long-term effects from using it? Anybody here, I mean?
Thanks, all...
ReplyDeleteI guess I wouldnt want to put my song in a Zefron movie either...
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it was this item, but wasn't there a thread once where someone mentioned Cary Grant, and another person said "Who?"
ReplyDeleteOr was it John Wayne? Or was it the time that a beloved but very young reader questioned whether Liza was A-list.
I don't feel old until crap like that happens.
wow, that is crazy. i always thought Grant was ze gay in the closet, but this is a very different look at his life.
ReplyDeleteIle means island in French.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked when I read about her turning him on to LSD, too!
Poor Zac, eh? He just wants a proper big career, and no one is taking him seriously. Give him props - he knows these tween movies won't take him far.
i tried LSD as a teenager, it really does open your mind up and you see some freaky things. You react to it in whatever mood you're in. So always be in a good mood when you take it. I have heard stories being depressed taking it and bad bad things happen, i.e. face melting off.
ReplyDeleteP.S. at least Zac finally got a haircut. That emo side bang was just too much.
ReplyDeletePlease God let him go the way of Backstreet Boys & NKOTB.
LSD wasn't always associated with tripping and illegal use. like most drugs.
ReplyDeletealthough i never would have guessed cary grant!
I wonder which movies he had worked on when he was on LSD. It would be interesting to try and spot it! I tried lsd when i was a teenager and thought I was in marioland! haha
ReplyDeleteJax, he was fairly openly bi. I don't think it was at all a secret in the Hollywood community.
ReplyDeleteGrant and Randolph Scott lived together for years and some considered them a couple. (Is he gay, or is he just British?)
ReplyDeleteI knew someone who was given LSD in an army experiment in the 60s. I took it many times myself and loved it. It was very freeing. I became less materialistic and even gave away everything I owned, twice. However, the universe seems to want me to have stuff because here I sit in Denver with a house and cars and a way too much furniture. Anyone want a free TV?
It's Ile de France not Isle de France. And wiki has plenty more wrong than simple typos.
ReplyDeleteI like Betsy Drake's answer when asked if she ever thought Cary was gay: "Why would I when we were too busy fucking?"
That's so funny...I've only ever seen it as 'Isle de France.' Maybe it's always been Americanized in these parts, I dunno.
ReplyDeleteBTW, on the Wiki page, it's spelled 'Isle' the first time, and 'Ile' the second.
(I was a German major.)
cary grant surprised me!
ReplyDeleteJust a thought, but if LSD helped mental disorders it would probably be used today in therapy. It most definitely will push you over the edge of sanity if you are not stable, and of course since it's illegal you would never know what dosage you were taking at any given time. I had a friend who took it every day for a month, and he's been in and out of mental institutions for most of his adult life.
ReplyDeleteIt sure was fun to take before going to a concert though.
I thought everybody knew about Cary Grant and LSD. Carrie Fisher even has a story about how when she was using pretty much every drug except LSD, her father decided that he thought she was on LSD and got Cary Grant to call her up to try and talk sense into her or something.
ReplyDeleteFrom France : Ile de france is the only way to spell it :)
ReplyDeleteAs far as LSD being used for mental disorders, I once had a boyfriend who told me that LSD was used as a treatment for alcoholism when it was a new drug. I don't know if this is true, but this boyfriend said that he tried it, and he said that alcohol made him sick every time he tried to drink since then. I've never used it, and I hardly ever drink so I can't verify if it really works like that for everyone.
ReplyDeleteCary Grant was nominated a couple times, I believe for North by Northwest and Philadelphia Story, but never won. He was, however awarded a lifetime Oscar sometime in the late 70s early 80s right before he died.
ReplyDeleteHope that helps.
I thought 17 Again was funny in parts. And Zac was competent in it. I have never heard or read anything bad about his behavior. It must be hard to be that attractive and not get a big head.
