Another American Idol Is Rigged Story
Usually I write an American Idol is rigged story somewhere during the season, but this time it is even before Paula Abdul finds out if she is going to be back sipping whatever it is she drinks each week. This time the allegation comes from Ju'Not Joyner, a contestant on the 8th season, who besides having an interesting first name says that the show is decided by producers and not by the public.
I don't really buy that once it gets to the television audience voting portion of the show, but I have no problems believing it prior to that point. If you are a producer and someone is causing trouble, it is pretty easy to just drop the person causing trouble and move on to someone who will play the game and do as they are told.
Ju'Not who says he caused trouble claims he was not invited to the wild card round because he had questioned producers about the fairness of his contract, or as he called at a "slavetract."
"I definitely believed that affected my time on the show. They didn't like the fact that I wouldn't sign 'just anything' and that other contestants were coming asking me questions. So I think they ousted me the first chance they could get...Even if I didn't get in on votes...how did I not get picked for the Wild Card show when I received comments from the 'judges' that were better than most of the contestants who were picked for the Wild Card show?"
He also says he refused to let the show talk about his background or how he came to be on the show and where he came from. The guy admits he was a pain in the ass. I don't blame the producers for getting rid of him. I don't think that is being rigged. I think that is just we don't need someone causing trouble all season long.
their contracts do suck, but most artist who start out have shitty contracts. it's the price those contestants have to pay to be on that show.
ReplyDeleteYeah, not rigged just trying to keep the show from spiraling into chaos.
ReplyDeleteI read the article yesterday and DID NOT see this guy as a pain in the ass. I believe he was just too wise for this type of show.
ReplyDeleteHe needs to get his start from someone who can appreciate an outspoken person.
If you watch JHud on AI she was outspoken and appeared to be too bossy.
Now that she's won an Oscar what she says and how she conducts herself is presumed to be "perfect".
People look back at her AI performance and comments and say that Simon was at fault.
If this guy goes on to win big his comments will be viewed positively too.
ong. You mean a publicly voted show isn't real? It's not based on viewer votes?
ReplyDeleteQuelle suprise. And yes, I'm being very sarcastic.
Yep. Just looked out my window and the sky is still blue.
ReplyDeleteIn other AI news, I can't believe they re-signed Kara. I don't even watch the show, and I know what a bad idea that was.
Look, you don't look a gift horse in the mouth, right? General common sense:
ReplyDelete1)you're a nobody who can sing a little, but no one knows it.
2)you're offered the opportunity to pursue your dream and receive massive exposure even if you don't win (no one really wants to win that thing, they just want to be seen and heard.)
3)you've seen other artists skyrocket in fame after appearing on said show.
Look stupid, you don't use inflammatory phrases like 'slavetract'if you want to succeed with the rest of them. You do what you have to do to get where you want to go and THEN you get mouthy.
It's like you have no clue how it works. Plus, your name is really ridiculous.
Even if he's playing the role of Captain Obvious, he didn't have to sign his life away for the publicity. No such thing as bad press?
ReplyDeleteOh please. Sounds to me like he didn't get picked for the Wild Card round. End of story. He sounds like every other contestant that whines "But I'm better than other people that got picked!" Or...maybe you're just NOT.
ReplyDeleteI believe him. I remember this guy and was STUNNED he didn't get picked to compete. He was very talented. You ARE owned by Idol when you sign those restrictive contracts.
ReplyDeleteWhat I'm finding interesting in the places wher people are talking about this is that no one is talking about the fact that they aren't even given a copy of the contracts they signed. I really would have liked to hear Ent's opinion on that. I'm less concerned about any rigging conspiracies (I've been on that boat for years) and more interested in hearing about shady/illicit business practices now.
ReplyDeleteIt's one thing to say "well, you signed up for it, deal with it;" sure, okay, it is reality television after all so who doesn't think that? But when you aren't even allowed to have a copy of the rules that you signed up for in the first place...how many of you would like the idea of signing a new mortgage or apartment lease but not getting a copy of it? If the landlord tells you three months later that the rent has suddenly jumped up by $400 you have no proof that this isn't contractually allowed.
I dunno, I think this is why I tend to think that discussions on AI just shouldn't ever be allowed. I have yet to see anyone discuss a news tidbit in full without screwing up basic facts, omitting things, or coming in with personal bias against either a contestant or the show in general. And at this point I'm so fucking tired of the 'he's just bitter' comments. Seriously, even if he is (he maintains that he isn't) that doesn't preclude anything he said from being the truth and needing to be put out there. There are still a lot of people who think everything they see is real, unfortunately most of those people aren't really active on the internet and will continue blindly believing.
Oh, and I agree with Little Miss Smoke, he WAS really good and just barely missed getting voted in during his group round. A lot of people who follow Idol were shocked when he didn't get picked for the wildcard round, though this is a fact that will be all too easily "forgotten" as people rush to dismiss him as yet another bitter guy. (To be fair though most people were disgusted with the sham that was the WC anyway; Ju'Not wasn't the only casualty of that shit setup.)
