American Idol Singer's Killer Arrested

Over the weekend I was really sad to see that Alexis Cohen had been killed by a hit and run driver in New Jersey. Although I didn't watch American Idol I had seen the YouTube clips of Alexis and thought she was hilarious. Anyone who yells at Simon and stands up to him and then comes back the next year for more is wroth applauding.

Over the weekend, Cohen was allegedly struck by Daniel Bark who was charged with reckless driving and manslaughter charges. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Alexis' body was found at around 4am and she was pronounced dead a few hours later. Bark had taken off but was arrested about 12 hours later. It's amazing the police found him so quickly. I am wondering if he had his license plate fall off when he hit her or what. Since Alexis wasn't discovered until after the fact, someone must have provided some tip or something.

Here is the YouTube clip of Alexis.

  1. she came across as mentally ill...idk if that was b/c she really was, or b/c production manipulated her audition. either way, i hope she's at peace now. so sad for the mother, especially. god be w/ her.

  2. I agree with you Pookie. This is why I don't watch Idol anymore. They tend to find people with some form of mental illness to showcase, then watch them melt down when they are rejected. And you notice they all said no to her moving on, but all her anger was directed at Simon. I wonder if there was some off camera prompting by Idiot boy.

  3. Now if they could off the rest of the contestants. And hosts. And producers. And network execs.

  4. I don't watch American Idol but it would seem to me that anyone would figure out that she has mental issues.

I feel bad for her mom.

  5. I think ya'll are really assuming alot when you assume she had a mental illness. People can be quirky w/o being ill.

I'm really sad about this. She was hilarious. She exhibited a funny sense of humor, especially at her 2nd audition. This is very sad.

I hate the first few episodes of Idol every year. Even if people are totally batshit crazy, they deserve some sort of respect or at least the absence of mockery and taunting. I don't find the meltdowns funny at all.

  7. I read in a mainstream news story that the driver's car was found parked just a couple of hundred feet away. Maybe there was some obvious damage? The driver obviously isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier anyway, to have taken off like that, so it's unsurprising that he wasn't "smart" enough to get the murder weapon out of there.

  8. I live right by Seaside where the hit and run happened. In our local paper it says that the driver was being pulled over by cops on bikes after he sideswiped a parked car. Driver sped off wrong way (north in a southbound) and temporarily eluded police. They caught him later but didn't find out until a few hours later that Alexis had been hit. Her body was spotted lying by curb by another driver.
Of course the hit and run driver was intoxicated, and supposedly didn't know he hit anyone.
