Where Was Enrique? Anna Kournikova Gets In A Bar Fight
Back in the day when Anna Kournikova was relevant, this would have been a really cool story. You really don't see very many female celebrities take part in bar fights. I use the term celebrity really loosely here. I will say that she at least earned her celebrity. People always trashed her tennis playing and said she only cared about her looks and modeling and sucked at tennis. I'm too lazy to look, but I would guess she got about as high as 20th in the world. Last I checked there were about 2.5 billion women on the planet which she was better than all but 19 of them in tennis. And she could probably beat over 99.5% of the men also. So, to me anyway, she deserves the status of celebrity much more than any celebutante or tard. That isn't to say I like I her, because I don't. But I do respect her for what she accomplished.
Anyway, as the story goes, Anna and her assistant were sitting inside Lavo nightclub in Vegas. They were in the VIP section because all assistants deserve the VIP section. They do. Especially if they work for Anna or for the actor who will be revealed on Saturday during reveal day. You like that plug? Just threaded it in right there.
So, a woman walks by Anna and her assistant and says something and some words are exchanged, but that is the end of it. Then, at the end of the night, the woman walks by again, but this time throws a drink in Anna's face. At this point Paris would have been crying in a corner screaming, "I'm melting," and petting her monkeys. Anna on the other hand got up and the next thing you know the two women were pushing and shoving each other while at the same time singing, "Bailamos." Both of the women ended up with cuts and scratches and the one not named Anna ended up being kicked out of the place.
What a tease...
ReplyDeleteBack in the day she annoyed the heck out of me because I could not figure out why in the heck she was famous since she was barely a tennis player. That being said, she’s a bigger “celebrity” than any of those foolios from “The Hills”.
ReplyDeleteWow, from Wikipedia: (I had NO idea.)
ReplyDelete"Although also successful in singles, reaching #8 in the world in 2000, Kournikova's specialty has been doubles, where she has at times been the world's number one-ranked player."
"At this point Paris would have been crying in a corner screaming, "I'm melting," and petting her monkeys."
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHAHAHA!!!!
hey anonmom - i just realized the other day .....i've been a week without SPEIDI news....thank god ..its been FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC are the mag's on a blackout or is just that MJ got it all ???
ReplyDeleteWow, I wonder what the other chick said to her. I don't condone physical fights, but sounds like the other chick started it and Anna ended it.
ReplyDeleteCanadachick -- Great Ghost of MJ! That's a GOOD THING!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but i just laughed so hard at that post! It was gold! You're right though, enty, she couldn't have been that 'rubbish' at tennis to get to her ranking. It's fairly impressive.
ReplyDeletecanadachick - I know that E! News listened to their readers and said that they won't report any stories about them, unless they get preggers or die.
ReplyDeleteCAN'T WAIT TIL THE 4TH! Hooray!
canadachick, just don't jinx us! :)
ReplyDeleteFor those of you who were here last year, please enlighten us noobies: how does Reveal Day work?
ReplyDeleteAnything juicy get revealed?
Thanks in advance.
Is she still married to Enrique I.? I thought they were no more.
ReplyDeleteWhen hockey player Sergei Federov divorced her, he said (paraphrasing here--don't sue) It was like the worst case of flu I ever had and it lasted for years.
ReplyDeleteLOL.
aww enty, i think it's awesome she stood up for herself! what was she supposed to do? if what the other girl did was unprovoked, the club did the right thing in booting her out, and anna did theright thing to defend herself. besides, she's not a jerky girl, she's actually very sweet, i don't get where all the hate come from.
ReplyDeleteMegley, a couple times a year, Enty reveals some - probably most - of his blind items. He'll post a new reveal every 15 minutes or so all day, and will repeat the blind item, then put the names of the person at the bottom. It's a cliff hanger!
ReplyDeleteI'm think I feel an illness coming on - it will hit on Saturday, I'm sure of it. I really, really want to stay home and read the reveals. I don't want to go to the in-laws party. I will be contagious.
ReplyDeleteI bet that was a great fight to see! The drink thrower never thought Anna would come after her.
BTW, Anna and Enriques never did marry, but are they still dating?
ReplyDeleteI've seen them on TMZ together within the last few weeks.
ReplyDeleteMegley, some of them are definitely juicy (can't wait for the Fillion/Jackson reveal!!!), but the truly scandalous ones don't usually get revealed. Usually all of the "kindess" items get revealed.
Mikey, I am right there with you. I so wish I could sit by my computer on the 4th instead of spend time with my family. Now that I typed that, that sounds pretty pathetic!! But, hey, it's Enty's reveal day!!! Woo hoo, can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThis is the best post EVER! Ent you rock.
ReplyDeleteGood for her! How stupid to provoke an athlete, especially a Russian.
ReplyDeleteMooshki, can't wait for the Fillion/Jackson reveal!!!),
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck are you talking about? I must have missed it. Spill it please!
Lisa o., I'm talking about this blind. We're all pretty sure it's either Nathan Fillion or Joshua Jackson, and Enty said he'd reveal it. (DON'T CHANGE YOUR MIND, I BEG YOU!!!)
ReplyDeleteLOL@bailamos.
ReplyDeleteAnna used to catch hell from the sports press (ESPN, etc.) because she never won a singles tournament, despite having made the Top 10 in the rankings, plus spending several years in the Top 20. She did make it to (and lose) several singles finals.
ReplyDeleteShe was a hell of a doubles player because of her extremely quick reflexes and excellent return of serve. Plus, she usually played doubles with Martina Hingis, so she knew how to choose her partners ;-)
Before you go and say, "oh, she won all those matches because of her partner," just be aware that Anna would always be on the receiving end of the hardest shots, because the opponents wanted to keep the ball away from Hingis. They did win a couple Grand Slam titles together, and always gave the Williams sisters a run for their money when they played them.
