ReplyDeleteTaylor's age and possible A listing (what exactly is the standard for singers tho?) kinda makes me think this isn't her. Otherwise, would have made the guess based on a post from ONTD where some serious stalker fan went all the way back to Taylor's 2006 blog postings, which show she her comments to friends about "sucking on a lollipop" with some boy, underages drinking, recreational drug use etc. Sorry I can't post the link, since I can't access it at work; however, it definitely goes against the innocent 'good' girl image she has worked hard to create.

ReplyDeleteTaylor Swift is on a higher ranking than Selena, Demi, etc., But she is not A list compared to everybody else on tour right now. This one seems to fit her.

jordin sparks makes sense because she made that ridiculous comment about the jonas brothers purity rings and about people not wanting to be sluts or something. would be hilarious if she did that and than is sleeping with her manager.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if Taylor Swift could be described as an A list country singer but a B list singer in general. Think the non-pop, non-country crowds really know who she is? She's not a household name like a Mariah, Britney, Christina, Janet, etc.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if Taylor Swift would be considered "A-List" quite yet. She's having a fantastic year but does that necessarily mean she joins the ranks of Mariah, Beyonce, etc? I think she might be the one, though i really can't picture it.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the Oh No They Didn't post that Jasmine referred to, i actually got curious and looked at those posts. The one about drinking was actually faked (not that i would hold it against her), but her other comments seem to be real and actually make me like her more. She seems much funnier and less uptight than she does in interviews now that she's got a rep to uphold.

I first thought of Taylor too; I think certainly in the future she will def be A list - if she keeps on trucking like she is- but for the moment she is Blist working on getting to A.

Taylor Swift had both her parents out on the road with her this summer. And I find it hard to believe that either of them would not realize she was shagging a married 40 year old.

Contrary to this belief that she can't be cause she is a country artist.
The girl has had a couple of huge cross over hits... stayed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for months, with the latest album. She is a huge money earner so she is A list.
This is going to be one of those Disney girls... American Idol girls... someone who can be conned by a 40 year old. Teenage girls who end up screwing around with married 40 year olds... have huge Daddy issues... which Swift does not have.
I wouldnt say Swift is A-list - is this a job for "its a long way to the a-list", perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI just don't see Swift as A list yet either. In the world of country I would think Dolly is A list, Willie, Merle Haggard, Reba and newer artists like LeAnn Rimes and a bunch of others. It would be hard for these people to fade from A list even if they didn't put anything out for five years or more but Taylor Swift? She is hot right now but Joss Stone was really hot for a while too and now look. At least that is just how I see it.

Well, Swift was the best selling artist of 2008 so it's kinda hard to say that she's not A-list. Plus she seems to have a lot of stuff lined up for 2009.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to compare her to well established artists that have been around for years then no teenager would ever be A-list because none of them have long careers. So that kind of criteria makes very little sense.

Late to the party, but in past blinds both Lady GaGa and Katy Perry matched A-List criteria and neither of them have the same sales/impact as Taylor has.
ReplyDeleteMost definitely not Jordin Sparks; she's been involved with Steph Jones for a while. Steph was an up-and-coming R&B singer with a lot of buzz last year but was dropped from his label for reasons unknown. His leaked material is pretty good.
Katy Perry is considered A list? Sorry but that is just sad.

ReplyDeleteI think in blind where Katy Perry was called A-List, enty actually expanded on the ranking saying something like "A-List for now, but we all hope not forever because she's extremely annoying" (or something like that). So yeah, i guess if someone like Katy Perry can be temporarily a-list, Taylor Swift would be considered a-list right now also.
ReplyDeleteI may have to throw my hat in the ring for a Demi or a Selena. Selena looks like she's 11 years old to me, so I'm going to say Demi so I feel slightly less dirty.
HautieTx: you're right about taylor swift! her parents are constantly on tour with her, so something like this would not go by unnoticed. and since you mentioned something about the girl having daddy issues i'm gonna throw demi in as a guess too. her dad was absent for most of her young life and i get the feeling he's a heartbeat away from becoming the next michael lohan. she's also a girl with alot of other insecurities besides her daddy issues. she's also on tour this summer.
