Melissa Joan Hart Wanted Farrah Fawcett To Live For All The Wrong Reasons

I know it has been a long time since Melissa Joan Hart has had a cover story in a tabloid. In fact, she really hasn't had many at all. So, with the opening of her new candy store as well as a new movie coming out, Melissa Joan Hart wanted some publicity. She played the I lost weight card and a whole lot of favors into a cover story in People Magazine and also got herself lots of television spots as a result. It was during one of those television spots on KTLA that Melissa slipped and said something she is going to regret for a very long time and will probably cost her all that positive publicity she was trying to generate.

In a line that can be heard, but not seen, Melissa said she was so happy Farrah Fawcett was still alive because if Farrah had died, then Melissa would not have been on the cover of People. All of those months of planning would have gone down the drain if Farrah had died.

I understand that she wanted publicity, but to wish that someone stays alive simply to get on the cover of a magazine is cold and callous to such an extent that it is going to make people dislike her and her damn candy store for a long time. Oh, and while we are on the subject of candy stores, who goes on the cover of a magazine and tells people she lost 42 pounds and then invites them over to her store so they can load up on candy and ice cream? "Come on. I'm not fat anymore, but I want you to come spend money at my store so you can get fat."

  1. Well put. I read this on another site and was wondering if you were going to touch on it. You did and with my exact sentiments. What a shallow dunce.

  2. She's bugged me ever since her "Clarissa" days. What a moron.

  6. You know its a damn shame that people can't even make a remark - a remark that we don't know what context it was made in - without being judged. Lighten up! Its ot like she was "overheard" saying "I'm glad that old hag didn't die.." I don't think there was anything mean spirited about it.
I do agree it's odd to be "Look at my weight loss now go buy candy" but rather that than giving Ryan O'Neil any more reason to be interviewed.

  7. What an imbecile. That's like the least sensitive thing a person could ever say.

She wasn't even that fat, for crying out loud. What a piss-poor example to women everywhere.

The more I read about her the less I like her. I think I'm about the same age as her, and so I identified a lot w/ the Clarissa show and Sabrina the Teenage witch was a fluffy bit of fun on friday nights when you're bored, but it's just tainting those memories.

  9. I wondered about the candy store thing and the weight loss.

  10. I'll give her a pass. I don't want anyone to die of cancer which includes Farrah but I also don't want to see her on a magazine cover. So I too am glad she hasn't died.

I'm not a douche or insensitive but if her dying is going to get her on every cover of a magazine then PLEASE don't ever die Farrah.

If I was Melissa and this was my one chance to get on the cover of a magazine, well.....

But I do agree that it was a major mistake for her to say it in public.

Healthy Farrah had a decent sized following. Dying Farrah has a huge following.

  11. I don't know why all the harsh comments...She really wanted her cover, and she put her foot in her mouth...big deal.
As far as the candy thing goes, she said in the article, she will eat the fro-yo from the store. She isn't saying she is forbidding her kids or her husband from treating themselves on the sweets every now and then.

  12. What a dumbass. As if her weight loss story couldn't have waited a week. I'm more impressed with Valerie Bertinelli's weight loss.

And that line, "I realized I don't have to be heavy just because I have kids." WHAT?

  13. I give her a pass. She was "overheard" saying this. By who? In what context? Was she joking? I mean, really, this is a whole lot of opinion about someone based on some kind of hearsay that doesn't really frame what she was saying or in what context.

It really could have been a joke taken out of context.

  14. I'm surprised by all the defenders. MJH is a nasty piece of work, always has been.

Probably she will come out saying that her words were taken out of context. Seems like all the celebrities like using "out of context" a lot.

  16. I'll bet she was joking.

  17. Didn't Enty post something about Melissa complaining that she has never made the cover of People before? Ah yes, back in 04/15 of this year.

She is finally living her dream!!!

...And yeah, when I read that article, I didn't get it either. Also, I walked away thinking that her husband likes her fat. Especially since she mentions that she plans to have two to three more kids, and opening up a candy store.

In eighteen months, she'll be 180--tops.

  18. Oh cut her some slack. I could easily see a lighthearted conversation:

Friend: Glad to see you finally got a People cover.

MJH: Yeah thanks, its a good thing Farrah didn't die that week.

    Why think the worst?

  19. Wow, and here I've been feeling guilty for years because when I first heard Stephen King was in a horrible accident and almost died, my first thought was, "OMG - he won't be able to finish the Dark Tower series!" If this is true, I think she may have beat me in the asshole Olympics (but it might be close).

  20. Rocket Queen, that's exactly what went through the mind of every single King fan on the planet, so don't sweat it.

  21. I had no idea they actually had it on tape? I thought it was just a rumor?

Either way, I agree with those who think we should not judge her so quickly, I think there are a million ways of saying that... Even though I think you are right about the weight loss Miranda, she didn´t look "horrible"!

  22. It seems to be anyone in Hollywood
these days you have to get an operation to remove the sensitivity filter in your brain.

If Farrah were MJH's mother or etc...would she want someone to have said such a boneheaded thing about Farrah? ...I think not.

  23. i always had a thing for her on Sabrina, and the Aunt too ... not Caroline Rhea, the other one

  24. Horrible person. Terrible thing to say.

  25. I have always thought she was such a total bitch! Remember that MTV show she did ages ago where she basically ripped people apart for "not being cool enough" and gave them makeovers? Meanwhile she's totally average looking and has awful eyebrows!

  26. Rocket Queen & Mooshki- Sooo true about Stephen King (although I personally do love all his books and want him to live many more years simply to continue writing anything PERIOD). I'm on my second way thru the Dark Tower Series (I'm halfway thru 'Wolves of the Calla') and gotta say- he did a cool and interesting job of incorporating his near-death experience into the story)

As for MJH and FF, I could give a shit. i think she is an absolutely terrible actress. Sabrina was one of those shows that I watched sometimes but would never admit to any of my friends at the time. I also think it probably wasn't meant to be so callous, but she has been in the public eye for long enough to know better and have more control over what she says and how it will sound.

And yes, plugging a candy store while flaunting your recent weight loss is just taffy....er...I mean tacky.
(yea, yea, that was a tacky joke)

  27. This is the way Hollywood works. All about positioning. She probably parrotted something her agent or PR person said. It's crass, but it doesn't surprise me.

Could she be Coke Mom? Just asking.

  28. i can't believe the put her on the cover in a bikini, she doesn't really have a cover girl bikini bod. seriously, who thinks she looks good. and i don't mean good for having 2 kids. i mean you like seeing her in a bikini enough to buy the magazine?

one more thing. candy/ice cream store for a girl who can't say no to food.....i see a future cover involving a weight gain.
