I'm Not A Fan Of Entertainment Tonight
Entertainment Tonight is one of those shows that is no better than Kneepads Magazine, but every once in awhile someone over there decides they need to be the lowest of the low tabloid weekly. They did it when they acquired the Heath Ledger tape which allegedly showed Heath taking drugs. Why would you even bother except to get ratings? It had no relevance to his death and was simply a way to capitalize on his death. Those are two very different things.
They have done the same thing again with Michael Jackson. No, not him using drugs, but instead promoting to the world their acquisition of the last photo of Michael Jackson alive. Why? I don't understand why they would feel the need to show a guy on a stretcher attached to tubes and about to get CPR. Do they feel this is news? How so? We already know what happened from the house to the hospital so I am unclear why we need to see a picture of it happening. All it is doing is exploiting his death for money, and not anything else.
I guess maybe I would feel differently if it was a story about him dying and the efforts of the paramedics and they showed the picture. The problem I have is the entire death story they wrote is headlined with Michael Jackson: Exclusive Last Photo. You should be so proud. Then on Twitter they congratulated themselves on getting such high ratings. That doesn't make it right.
THey suck and have sucked for a long time....their coverage of Farrah was nothing short of revolting
ReplyDeleteI personally would be pissed if someone showed my family or friends dead body with pictures, to me it just don't seem right.
ReplyDeleteTMZ is just as bad if not worse.
ReplyDeleteET are vile sensationalists/yellow journalists. how disgusting.
ReplyDeleteWell for the record, HLN kept showing the picture over and over again last night as well. I really don't get it. And it isn't the last picture of him alive, it was the first picture of him dead. Why would anyone show that on the air??? It is pretty low.
ReplyDeleteya but you expect it from TMZ. i dont know if i actually saw the pic on their site though.
ReplyDeleteAnderson Cooper and Larry King should know better, that was just wrong.
I saw that ... that was AW-FUL.
ReplyDeleteYou know ever since they did the one for Anna Nicole, can't remember the guy from ET but he was such a kiss ass. Still can't stand that jerk. Sometimes ET are so obvious being kiss ass.
ReplyDeleteCNN kept running the pic last night ... im sure it was from one of the paps who bum rushed the ambulance when it left the house ... wonder how much $$$$ that guy got for it
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I clicked on the link thinking it was the last picture of him in life. Unfortunately, it was his death picture, with tubes & ventilators sticking out of his face. Pretty classless to run this publicly.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could un-see it.
@Jax
ReplyDeletestill tho...the Heath Ledger roll out picture. The Donde West 911 tapes...just, classless. I'm guessing the only reason they didn't post the photo is because they weren't the highest bidder.
I clicked on a link to the photo, from Celebitchy. I thought it would be of a final rehearsal photo or something like that. Then WHAM! There he was, intubated. I didn't want to see it, I didn't need to see it. Horrible.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't the biggest Michael Jackson fan in the world but he deserved a little damn privacy and respect.
Sad and classless, no wonder the rest of the world has such a low opinion of America. I'm sure his kids will love seeing that pic splashed across the supermarket tabloid aisle.
ReplyDeleteAgain I say, love him or hate him, noone deserves that kind of treatment.
ET has it on their home page, so if you go there you are going to see it whether you want to or not. I think they should have at the very least put on a different page and give you the option to see it or not.
ReplyDeleteWow, I agree with all y'all! Pretty tasteless and unnecessary. At least consider that he has 3 young children that are undoubtedly devastated and do NOT need to have their father's corpse splashed all over the news. Jesus, when did we lose common fucking courtesy and basic respect as a country? Sad. His poor family.
ReplyDeleteThat's really bad. As Ice Angel stated, it was not the last picture of him alive. He suffered cardiac arrest at home, the paramedics were never able to get a pulse. It's a death picture and horribly disrespectful and invasive. I wish I hadn't looked.
ReplyDeleteRight before I deleted Perez from Twitter I saw this: "Shame on you ET for publishing that photo! Shame on you!!" The hypocrisy nearly made me vomit. UNFOLLOW
ReplyDeleteI also expected to be the last photo of Michael J alive.
ReplyDeleteET should retire. Even lamer, that image was all over the Web before the show even aired.
The best tribute... on KCRW - the music set last night captured why the King of Pop is one for the ages. Another is planned for tonight. You can listen on the radio or online... http://www.kcrw.com/music/michael-jackson
There should be a law against such a disgusting invasion. Unconscionable. Immoral and sick.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Badfish, but i think we are going to see a bit of a different TMZ in the next little while. they were the frontrunners in the news yesterday and now the site has a tweeked their format to appear a bit more professional.
ReplyDeletei myself won't wait for CNN to confirm with 10 different people, when TMZ has the direct source on the payroll. I fear the world will emplode if TMZ becomes a reliable news outlet though lol.
Well, tmz is reporting that they are going to release the 911 call any minute from now. This shit is hitting the streets really fast. HIPAA laws are a joke too. How was that pic allowed to be taken in the first place? I think the guy was a scumbag but that's still fucked up. He has kids and the internet is forever.
ReplyDeleteHIPPA has NOTHING to do with this photo. HIPPA Laws are to protect your medical records being released to the public. My question is that this was an AMBULANCE run...WHY wasn't the site secured for the safety of the first responders to do their job??? The lack of security at the site was unacceptable..the photogs were in the path of the ambulance as it backed out of the driveway. Wow..my impression of the LAPD just sunk even lower. Nasty picture, yes. Surprised it exists, NO. Just another example of how low this society will sink for the almighty buck.
ReplyDeleteThem making the photo public is disgusting, but sadly not surprising. TWEETING AND CROWING ABOUT YOUR HUGE RATINGS BECAUSE OF IT???!!!! Holy. Fuck. Forget about the photo for a moment--why is there not more uproar about *that* action? It's beyond inhuman. Call Dante from the dead stat. Because whoever at ET made the call to send that tweet deserves a special circle in hell.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who was sexually molested as a child, I am so tired of this sanctimonious, respectful, and worshipful non-stop cable coverage. I hope MJ is at peace, but I also hope that his alleged child victims find peace.
ReplyDeletei saw it as soon as they published it last night & was sick to my stomach. nobody needs to see that & def. not with that headline.
ReplyDeletenext time they should just say "hey, we're disgusting & greedy & have no moral compass; look at this sick *exclusive* we've got to piss you off!" gross.
I did just listen to the 911 call.
ReplyDeleteI hate that this photo was taken and published. Hate it.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine how his Mother and other relatives feel seeing that picture???? They are the ones I feel for.
ReplyDeleteYou're an asshole, ENT, for glorifying this child molester. Who gives a fuck if he's exploited in death? It's not like he didn't anally exploit a hundred boys in life. Fuck him, and fuck you.
