Why Don't You Just Burn The Money?

In the my parents gave me a bunch of money to start a business and now I am going to lose it item of the day, someone is giving Amy Winehouse money. No, it isn't for her to buy them drugs. Instead a British designer named PPQ is about to throw Amy Winehouse millions of dollars for her to produce her own line of clothes for the company. This is no lie. This is no exaggeration. If I were an investor in the company I would immediately withdraw all my money.

What the hell is Amy Winehouse going to design? She always wears the same damn thing. Either jeans and ballet shoes or a dress with a ton of cleavage. And do you really think Amy can sketch? Do you think she will turn anything in on time? Hell no. All she is going to do is waste a whole bunch of money and turn out a bunch of product with lots of hidden compartments for drugs.

"The range will be all about high-end statement pieces, inspired by Amy's style. For example, maybe a dress or an amazing piece of jewelery like a bracelet."

There is nothing high end about Amy. I think they have the wrong person.

  1. you're right, there's absolutely nothing high end about her. i'm sure she's aware of that tho, and surely there'll be ghost designers doing all the work.

enty, why do you hate on hyphens so much?! *hyphen police still loves you*

  3. I find anyone suspect who can't find a better adjective to use than "amazing".
I'm surprised the publicist didn't use the words "basically" and "actually" as well.
But I agree. In her current state, Amy couldn't possibly come up wth anything resembling designs on her own.
Her style reminds me of the DIY/recon girls over at craftster.org. Lots of retro inspiration, but lots of things made out of thrift store pillowcases.

  4. Anyone else in the US have your flag out today?

Well, Amy's style is just as distinctive as Snag-tooth Kate's is.

Her needing money for any endorsements would be sad, though, meaning she's put a serious dent in the fortune.

I hope she has good people handling it all and not ripping her off blind.

  6. A designer braclet that is also a crack spoon. That way you can never leave home without it.

Why can I not find dumb people with alot of money that will give me a job I know nothing about?

Selena, I have my flag out. My Dad fought in 2 wars and was commander of the local VFW I do that to honor his memory. ( Actually my flag is usually out though in honor of him.) :)

  11. Instead of House of Winehouse fashion...can they just call it CRACKHOUSE?

Seriously...Ardleigh, thank your family for their sacrifices and protecting our freedom so we can sit here and honor them by making fun of billionaire assclown pop idols who deserve nothing but instead rake in the cash while those who DO serve and matter in this world often suffer and still sacrifice just to get by.

Yes, there's more important things than money in this world. Which is why I honor and respect veterans. Not idiots like Amy Crackhouse and the American Idols who people worship as if they did something for humanity.

Thank a soldier, nurse, dedicated teacher or loving parent. Thank an honest small-businessperson, a family-owned business still struggling, a farmer, truck-driver, an honest/moral minister or rabbi, or a hard-working waitress/waiter for making a difference - even just by smiling.

I wish those folks had half the money that Ms. Crackhouse blows on drugs each year and even HALF the cash our corrupt American politicians (of all parties) piss away for their egos!

Oops...I'm falling off my soap-box now. Sorry. Had to rant.
And thank you all CDAN commenters for proving that even differing opinions and ideas can coexist humanely in this insane world.

    You folks rock!

  12. Himmmm Thanks for the thought about Dad. The wars were many years ago and my Dads been gone along time but Thank You!

I second the sentiment that we owe those who serve much more then we pay. I would add fireman to that since my cousin is one in Philly were they throw debris at them when they are trying to put out fires.

  14. I think Amy's "talent" will be in the fabric design department - they can have her vomit on a bolt of fabric and reproduce the colour and the spatter.

  15. this is one of my favorite pictures of her too!
thinking ahead to ads for this 'clothing line', what picture WILL they use? there's not a decent picture of this hideous, used up drug addict anywhere---and i'm pretty sure there never will be. can they prop her up long enough to get one? doubt it.
