Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick Surrogate Mom
I guess when I envisioned the type of woman that Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick would pick for their surrogate mother, I didn't expect it to be this woman. Yes, she is a professional surrogate so you know she is not going to want to keep the baby for herself, but I guess I didn't expect a woman who is the mother of a child she never sees who also lost a child to Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
According to Star Magazine, Michelle Ross is a professional surrogate who has children for lots of people but never sees her own son. In 2006 she and her husband divorced and she didn't want anything to do with her four year old son. Although she never sees her son, she is apparently on good terms with her ex who says she is a surrogate for the right reasons. It doesn't pay much, so I guess you have to like doing it. She is only getting paid about $30,000 to carry the babies. The firm that set it all up is getting paid $100,000. Why is the company that set it up getting paid three times the amount of money as the woman who is walking around carrying the twins? That doesn't exactly seem fair.
And for those of you who were wondering, Sarah Jessica Parker's eggs were used as well as some of Matthew Broderick's sperm so it will probably turn out to be twin girls who look exactly like Matthew. Well, the son looks like Sarah, so I figure this time it will be more of a Matthew thing. They will also sing show tunes and have an unnatural affection towards the songs of Wayne Newton.
HAH! That's a hot mess.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure a woman who lost a child and then doesn't see her own son is a surrogate for the right reasons. That is a really sad story.
ReplyDeleteWhy is this newsworthy? Most couples use a surrogate because the woman can't carry a pregnancy to full term, or there is a problem with her eggs. Does anyone really care who their surrogate is?
ReplyDeletethe only thing i can say is she sounds like an ideal surrogate. she doesn't even bond with her OWN kid so there's no danger of her freaking out and wanting to keep these kids she has for other people.
ReplyDeleteand in this case, she's just renting out her uterus---she didn't even contribute her own egg.
i'm glad they're having these babies, however it was accomplished. sounds like they wanted another child real badly, so i'm glad it happened for them.
I think I would choose someone a little more together.
ReplyDeleteThey could have at least thrown in a pair of Jimmy Choo's or Manolo's.
ReplyDeleteI think the identity of a surrogate should be protected. It's a very personal decision and the parents and surrogate should keep it that way.
Now, if the surrogate choses to show-up on Maury, that's another story.
I'm just gonna say it.
ReplyDeleteThey should've used the donor's eggs.
*gulp*
i'm w/ you calif...high-end shoes and protecting her identity should've been the way to go.
ReplyDeletei wonder if they'll hound her?
Can't this woman find a REAL job? Sheesh, why any woman would want to spend her life pregnant is beyond me! Swollen ankles, stretch marks, boobs down to your waistband... Once was plenty for me!
ReplyDelete$30k? This woman is probably looking at Octo-mom wondering, "why didn't i think of that?"...
ReplyDeleteYa, I have a hard time believing she's only getting $30,000. I know a "baby broker" and besides payment for the uterus rental, they do all sorts of things for the surrogate.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it mean that they use SOME of Matthew's sperm?
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss that SJP and MB had a surrogate!?!? God, I step away from the internet for a MINUTE and all this shit happens lol
ReplyDeleteWhy are these people having more children? I'm not saying that they're bad parents. I just don't think they're at a time in their lives now to um, complicate things. Bandaid babies grow up to realize what they are :(
as much of a proponent for science that I am, just ugh. I'm somewhat disappointed in reproductive science. I think they should find a better way to keep people from GETTING pregnant than to making more babies and overpopulating the planet.
(The last paragraph has nothing to do with sjp or anything. more to do with octomom and the gosselins) I have to be real careful because I have friends in playgroup who did IVF and IUI. And even Clomid. Ugh, and then there are "designer" babies, where you can choose which sperm meets with which egg to decide gender etc. UGH.
MOAR CANCER RESEARCH PLS!
Julie, I'm not going to comment on your comment, other than to say "Step back, 'cause here it comes..."
ReplyDeleteIf she gets a reality show, i'm quitting life.
ReplyDeleteLol @ AnnMarie
Julie - I see what you're getting at, and i agree. There are too many 'accident' babies without stable homes - one thing that really pisses me off (and this comes from an 'accident' baby).
I hope the girls look HAPPIER then either parent because lately they have been looking like Mr.&Mrs. GRIMM.
ReplyDeleteJulie, I agree with most of your comment. But science is not all bad. Without Clomid, which you mention in your post, I would probably not have my two boys. Yes, sometimes science provides eight babies, but is usually just one baby for a very happy family. But I share your concerns about the multiples in the reality shows.
ReplyDeleteOh , and I totally agree about more resources for cancer research.
