Wow, you'd think an actor could afford a better brand of contacts.. I've slept with mine many continuous night and nothing ever happened, except needing eye drops the next day... Don't have a clue as to who it is though...
I wore hard or gas permeable contact lenses for years, and falling asleep in them just made my eyes feel sticky. And, of course, everything was a bit blurry. I can't imagine it ever being bad enough to go to the ER.
I agree. Either there was more going on than just contacts or he is the biggest wimp I've ever heard of. I hope they didn't make other people wait in the ER because of him.
Seriously, two of my ex boyfriends wore their contacts in for weeks. One, or maybe both, didn't change them because they were too cheap to get contact solution. I was even going to get one contact solution as a Valentine's Gift.
Dunno - but I know I have fallen asleep with my contacts in for like an hour, and it hurts like hell trying to get them out. Almost like they are glued to my eyeballs. Maybe I just have really sensitive eyes....but seriously. Not bad enough to warrant a trip to the ER!
@Jenn: Me, too. And after somehow peeling them off, if was as if the skin of my eyeballs had come off with them. I'd had to use my nails to peel up the edges, along with a lot of saline. While it was mighty painful, an emergency room trip never crossed my mind, even though I lived close to one.
No guess on the blind, but I have a friend who fell asleep with her contacts in and ended up going to the emergency room. She had gotten up after sleeping awhile and taken out the lenses, but they'd stuck to her eyeballs and, when removed, pulled a ring of cornea off both eyes. This was extremely painful. Her eyes were bandaged for three days, but her vision was not permanently damaged.
well, people do panic when they go up into their eyelid. said rocker probably screwed up, rubbed his itchy eyes and made a big owie. eyedrops and bandages.
while not as severe as having to go to the er after one night, i have a friend who had to lay off wearing contacts because she had a condition in her eyeball that made her contacts stick to them as if they were velcro. she had steroid drops prescribed to her. and this is also why i will not give up my glasses either
There was a time when I would wear my contacts overnight, and I developed a cyst on my eye that broke. Caused a lot of pain, but only went to the eye doctor, not the ER.

ReplyDeleteI figured since it was a NY blind, maybe it is Constantine Moroulis (sp)? He is certainly a wannabe, even if he did get a Tony nom.
