Mike Tyson's Daughter On Life Support
Whatever you think of Mike Tyson, and believe me you are not wrong to loathe him, his daughter is an entirely different matter. Mike's four year old daughter was found by her 7 year old brother with a treadmill cord around her neck. The boy went and got their mother who revived her daughter and then called 911.
The Phoenix police said, “Somehow she was playing on this treadmill, and there’s a cord that hangs under the console – it’s kind of a loop. Either she slipped or put her head in the loop, but it acted like a noose, and she was obviously unable to get herself off of it.”
It's a tragedy. I know the only reason anyone is seeing this is because it is the daughter of Mike Tyson, but it can happen in any house and is a tragedy for any parent. I hate when things like this happen because most of the time they are completely avoidable. I'm not blaming the mom, but exercise equipment is dangerous. The girl probably didn't know how anything worked and if it was not this then it could have been she turned it on and injured herself in a different way.
Mike was in Las Vegas when he heard the news and immediately rushed to the bedside of his daughter. She was listed in extremely critical condition. I can only hope that she pulls through and that I know we are all thinking of them.
This is tragic. I can't imagine what they're going through.
ReplyDeleteUsually life support is just a means of prolonging the inevitable, to allow enough time for family to gather. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and the little girl.
ReplyDeletePoor baby! I hope she pulls through. Hug your kiddos, people!
ReplyDeleteSo very sad. My kids were playing on a treadmill this weekend and I told them I didn't want them near it (at a friend's house.) I would not wish this upon anyone. My prayers are with little Exodus.
ReplyDeletePoor little babe. You're right, Ent. Every once in a while we hear about little kids accidentally hanging themselves from bunk beds because the sashes from their bathrobes get caught in the framework.
ReplyDeleteThere was also a news report just last night about kids being injured by furniture/appliances that fall easily. They advised looking at things through a child's eyes, that way you'll know where the danger is.
I don't loathe Tyson at all; in fact I've always felt sorry for him.
ReplyDeleteHe had a scared little puppy brain inside a hulking, powerful body thrust into a life without the personal skills to function properly.
Not being bleeding-heart (or -ear...) about it, I just feel like his brain/personality never developed properly to inhabit that massive exterior.
He was so good in the ring even though he had a typically fatal technique flaw that few opponents were worthy enough to use against him--he routinely raised both feet off the mat together when throwing a punch, which would have toppled most lesser fighters.
Sorry--I'm a woman and I hate rape but he was one hell of an athlete in his prime.
...and I hope his baby recovers although it doesn't sound good.
ReplyDeletetragic. just sad.
ReplyDeletewhen I heard this news, my heart went out to his son who found the girl, the mother of his children and to Mike himself.
ReplyDeleteHis record in the ring, his public poor behaviour and bad social image have little to do with this tragic accident.
Can you imagine the horror of seeing your child hanging from your exercise equiptment? The poor child that found her.
So sad- yes hug your kids. Alot.
Terrible. I am so sad for that little girl and his family. That is really every parent's nightmare.
ReplyDeleteThere's a professor of public health at Johns Hopkins whose daughter died from entangling herself in the cords from venitian blinds. He has since dedicated a lot of his professional attention to this issue.
ReplyDeleteBottom line: the cords should be separate; don't have the cords tied together at the bottom.
Best wishes to that poor little Tyson girl and her family. :-(
While I don't think that rapists (actually, the victim recanted) and woman beaters should just be "forgiven", there are some words that Mike Tyson had for Chris Brown after he beat down Rihanna that I just respect so much:
ReplyDelete"Do I think it’s right to beat up a woman? No — hell no,” he adds. “Have I hit a woman before? Hell yeah. Was I wrong? Hell yeah. I’m a product of that environment. Do I regret ever doing that? Hell yeah. Would I do it again? Never.”
Some people can learn from their mistakes if they seek help, and it sounds like he did both. I have respect for that.
And even if I didn't, this is so sad nonetheless. Someone else said it, and its true--the life support at this point is probably only being used to delay the inevitable, as the brain damage from suffocation is usually far too severe. I feel bad for them.
i'm so sorry for the little 4 year old...altho i'm sure she's pissed she has to go thru life w/ a name like Exodus. i hope she'll be ok.
ReplyDeletethat said tho, i can't help but think this is karmic payback. i think he still has considerable debt.
best wishes for her and her family!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna try to think positive for this little girl, that maybe the "life support" is because of damage to her windpipe that can be repaired, and not a delay tactic for family to get together, or organ donation.
ReplyDeletei doubt whatever Tyson has done in this life and the 100 before it would add up to the amount of anguish he'll go through should this poor thing pass on.
ReplyDeletei'm all for pointing and judging but i'm not going to dance on her grave for her father's mistakes.
I saw this article yesterday and my heart immediately went out to Mike and his family.
ReplyDeleteI pray that his daughter recovers fully from this accident.
This is just tragically sad. My thoughts are with them at this time. Children are resilient. I hope this is one of those times although with oxygen deprivation I'd say it does not look good.
ReplyDeleteThis tragedy has brought up memories of a horrible accident that happened to a close friend. His daughter (6 years old) was upstairs playing with her brother and sister. She was on the top bunk of a bed and jumped off. She had a purse she was playing with that she had put the handle over her head. When she jumped the purse caught on the post and she broke her neck. Her father (my friend) was at a Nascar Race when he got the call. He said it was the longest trip he was ever on. Tragedy can come at any time and it is no-one`s fault but the grandmother who was baby-sitting at the time has never really gotten over the guilt. My thoughts and prayers are with this little girl and her family.
ReplyDeleteso very sad. losing a child is beyond imaginable, and nothing is ever the same. may this family find peace.
ReplyDeleteKelly- your story is a great one to share- it happens so quickly and in such crazy plain-old having fun circumstances- a purse and a bunk bed...the blinds cord- can you imagine walking in and seeing your kid hanging from the BLINDS??? So terribly sad.
ReplyDeleteGod bless Mike Tysons family- yes grave dancing not appropriate here.
Be thankful for what you have.
I heard that sadly, the little girl died earlier today.
ReplyDeleteyes, she died @ noon. such a horrible thing.
ReplyDeleteevery time i see that TV commercial with the kid wearing a superman cape and swinging on a swing, i get the shudders.
i never let my kids play on my stationary bikes, because the darn things aren't toys. and isn't that cord designed as a safety thing to stop the tread moving if a user falls off, like with a jet ski?
this is not karma. this is absolute, pure suckage.
i hope they bring suit against the treadmill company, those things scare me to death.
i've just heard also that she died. So, so tragic. Unimaginable even. My thoughts and prayers are with Mike and his family.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking they pulled life support. Poor, poor baby.
ReplyDeletePlease, no one say anything mean. That is too sad for me.
ReplyDeletetallywacker, we usually are more sympathetic than that. we're a good group.
