Follow Up To Some Crime Stories

It seemed like a few months ago there were all these crazy crimes that were happening all over the world, and in the past few weeks there has been some resolution to at least two if them.

Do you remember the Lebanese singer Suzanne Tamim who was killed in her apartment in Dubai because she was leaving her lover? Well, an Egyptian court sentenced her former boyfriend, Hisham Talaat Moustafa and retired police officer Mohsen al-Sukkari to death by hanging. Her boyfriend ordered the killing while the police officer is the one who actually carried it out.

Her family said, "We have full faith in the Egyptian judicial system and we are awaiting the final ruling. The family is all gathered and we are following this closely."

The final ruling to which the family refers is the fact that the sentence must be approved by the mufti, which is an interpreter of Islamic law. This was such a tragedy.

The other case which has some resolution involves the 17 year old girl who ran away to Brazil to be with her boyfriend and then he killed her, cut her up, and put her in a suitcase. He did this because she was going to tell his parents about his drug use. For his part, he revealed that he only wanted to be with Cara Maria Burke so he could get permission to live in the UK. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison for her death. After killing her while high on crack, he sent a text message to a friend saying, 'the b**** is in the bag', accompanied by a smiley face.

  1. I remember those cases, and was bugging out about the English girl who at only 17 years old was allowed to go across the world to hook up with some boy. I was like WTF is up with her parents?!?! Still no word from them???

  3. 21 years? Not long enough! I'm anti-death penalty, but bring on the "life without parole!!!"

  4. So sad @ both of those :( I was just reading where they MAY have found Stacy Peterson's body. Hopefully another one resolved.

  5. Wow, Princess, I'll have to look up that story. Drew Peterson is one of the biggest jerk arounds out there.

In the first case, it's apparently a huge deal that the boyfriend was sentenced to death since the elites are considered above the law.

    Both very sad (and gruesome).

    So sad, both of them.

QuintessentialSoutherner, did you MEAN the crimes are harsher, or the sentences are harsher, I wasn't sure. Frankly, either way, you're right.

  9. opps should read:

it's great that in some countries the punishment for crimes against women are very harsh. in the usa, it's either hit or miss.

At least the men got the punishment they deserve. I would have gone for the death penalty for both crimes.

  11. I'm also anti-death penalty.
I'm thinking a 5 ft. by 5ft. square box with no light or human interaction until a natural death. THAT would be punishment.

  12. We had some resolution in Ontario yesterday as well. 8 year old Tori Stafford, who went missing on April 8th, has not yet been found but her captors/killers have. A 28 year old man who apparently wanted her for "sexual purposes", and an 18 year old woman who abducted her from her school, have been charged. They featured the story briefly on AMW and the story is posted on their website as well

her murderer's facebook status from that day absolutely disgusted and infuriated me. Here's what he put as his status:

  13. MM, I believe she ran away, the parents didn't know where she had gone. If I'm remembering correctly.

  14. yeah, it's sad that a body's found and the police have their choice of TWO women who were most likely murdered by their husbands.
if killing your wife was a disease in this country, the CDC would have raised the alert level to 6 a long fucking time ago.

  15. Jungle, Tori's story just broke my heart. I have a 7 1/2 year old daughter, and I simply CAN'T fathom why anyone in their right mind would want to use a child for sexual purposes. I can't even read the story without breaking out in tears. Truly, my heart breaks for her parents, and for every other child and parent who has to go through this.

  17. These are as bad as the toddler in NM. His mother smothered him, felt remorse so she revived him then killed him again. She burried him on a playground.

There are some truly sick puppies in this world.

  18. I know Jewels. My daughter is 4 1/2 and when Tori went missing I began to seriously talk to her about strangers. We've always been adamant about her being too friendly, but this just scared me and saddened me so deeply. The saddest part is that she was taken by a woman who may have been familiar to her. I hope she gets murder instead of accessory/abduction

  19. The woman kidnapped Tori so she's def in the thick of it and not an accessory.
These poor, poor people. It's so very tragic and depressing. :-C

  20. Cara's eyes in this picture are haunting. She looks scared. I wonder if this is the plane she took to run away to Brazil. Maybe she was starting to realize how deep she was in. Very sad.
