Chris Brown Ain't A Monster And You Can Believe That
Chris Brown took some time out from bowling and practicing his swing to let the world know that he has a new album coming out soon and a new single this summer and that if we hate him then we can hate him but to his true fans he loves them. Uh huh. Then he tells the world he ain't a monster and his friend chimes in and agrees. That pretty much covers the entire 37 seconds of the video. I had heard about the video and thought it was going to change my life, but no so much.
I am interested to see how his new album does and if people just won't care or if they will boycott it. For some reason I think it is going to do very well. I think people have already moved on to other things. I won't ever buy anything of his ever again, but I realize I am just one person with one mind and everyone has their own views about what they will or what not do. That is one thing about boycotts. I think people should be able to make up their own minds about things and boycotts sometimes make me feel guilty if I don't do something. Do what you want to do and don't let anyone talk you into doing something for which you don't feel comfortable. If you want to buy the Chris Brown record or you like his new single, I am not going to judge you. I have my opinion and you have yours. It would be a pretty damn boring place if everyone just agreed on every little thing.
That being said, I would have to say that Chris Brown is a monster and he must have not look at the pictures of what he did to Rihanna. I really would like to hear how he would describe himself.
I'm sure Chris looked at the pictures of Rihanna's face and made excuses for it.
ReplyDeleteI also will never buy anything that he's selling.
He no longer exists in my world so lets move on to something else.
As the Soup Nazi would say, NEXT!
Guess his definition of 'monster' is different from mine. :(
ReplyDeleteI wont buy anything of his, either. AND I deleted the few songs I did have of his off my ipod. Take that you "monster".
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have bought any of his crap either way, but especially not now. They were playing a song of his at my local Starbucks a few weeks ago, and I asked them if they really thought that was appropriate. The manager did change the cd. maybe they did put it back on after I had left with my overpriced weak-ass coffee, but still.
ReplyDeleteA person like him who doesn't want to face up that he is the same way as his father will never admit what he really is.....A Monster.
ReplyDeleteWe should also boycot Shaq (Who I can't Stand), Bow Wow, and Usher.

ReplyDeleteSylvia, what did Shaq do to support him?
ReplyDeletehmm...i hope that his album tanks, but unfortunately i believe that most of his albums are bought by females, possibly black.
ReplyDeleteAS A black woman MYSELF, i can say that SOME of us have a jacked up mentality when it comes to black men. SOME of us feel that it is OUR duty to be loyal to EVERY black man. or we have been CONDITIONED to do so. btw, not trying to start nothing.
there are worthy black men to stand behind and chris brown ain't it. he needs a good ass therapist.
i'll keep my fingers crossed and hope that it tanks.
NOMD - I found it at TMZ
ReplyDeleteShaq invited him to play basketball in his private gym, Usher took him to an NBA playoff game, Bow Wow even helped him shoot a YouTube video -- seems like Chris Brown is finally out of celebrity exile.
At first it was hard to find a celebrity who would take a stand on the incident at all, but now -- just three months after he allegedly beat the crap out of Rihanna -- he's back in the "in-crowd," like the whole thing never happened. He's even dropping an album.
We don't expect Chris is gonna have a sit-down dinner with Jay-Z any time soon... but at this point, would you really be surprised?
I especially loved how he basically told the haters to go screw themselves, but to his "true" fans (i.e. the ones who are ok with what he did to Rihanna??), he has nothing but love.
ReplyDeleteI'm ok without your kind of love, Chris Brown.
Are you guys also boycotting everything by William Hurt, Cary Grant, Burt Lancaster, and every other talented woman-beater in entertainment history?
ReplyDeleteOr is it just Chris Brown?
i don't respect any male who does atrocious things to women and children. mismatched from day one. go beat on or try to fuck up another man. chris brown is cocky and unrepentant. he has not acknowledge his actions at all.
ReplyDeletewilliam hurt acknowledge what he had done to that actress, and i hope that he has sought professional help.
I wish he were rotting in jail. Ugh. He is a monster.
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't even on my radar to begin with and now that he is, he's just the guy that beat the hell out of Rihanna...and so he shall remain. No longer unknown, but forever unsupported here.
ReplyDeleteNutty, I'm not boycotting Cary Grant, but if I ever run into him, boy will I give him a tongue-lashing!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sylvia.
ReplyDeleteLol Mooshki.
ReplyDeleteQuintessential Southerner-you raised some interesting points about conditioning and such. Makes it a little more clear as to why Chris still has such a following. Also, you're right, at least William Hurt owned up to it and didn't seem to think it increased his 'street cred' or made him more of a man.
I'm pretty much okay with Chris Brown being a name you get when you type in 'abuse' in Google. Nothing more.
Nutty a boycott is to hit someone where it hurts, the pocket.
ReplyDeletetwo dead guys and a dude who hasn't worked since the 80's isn't really taking a stand against abuse. Boycotting someone who currently has a career IS.
IMO
Not one nickel from me. The guy is a creep.
ReplyDelete"I really would like to hear how he would describe himself."
ReplyDeleteme too. i wonder if anyone has had the big ones to ask him.
@ NOMD:
ReplyDeleteafter the events that occured next door over the weekend, i will put money on it, that when he sees that picture, he laughs and high fives his good buddies.
and harriet, GOOD ON YOU! i've been greatly offended by certain types of music at certain places and complained (i think filthy language in a family place is just not cool) and pretty much been invited to leave if i don't like it. although i wouldn't recognize HIS music if it bit me on the ass. lucky me.
I have never bought anything from this scumbag and I still won't.
ReplyDeleteHe could put out the best album EVER I wouldn't listen to it or buy it.
ReplyDeleteI took the words of advice my Daddy gave me ;when I was a little girl;to heart.
" A man who demeans a woman with his words or his fists is not much of a man."
This guy has nothing to stand behind. And I'd never stand behind anyone. We stand next to each other or I stand on my own.
ReplyDeleteWas he drunk when he made that? Sounds drunk.
ReplyDeleteardleigh you had the good luck to have a wise man for a father :)
ReplyDeletewear it well!
No, he may not be the monster of our childhood nirghtmares, however that is certainly monster behavior. He is not alone. Here is just a brieft list of batterers/abusers: Virginia Graham reportly beat up her husband (Billy Grahams daughter), and she still sells books. Remember R Kelly? He sold and produced more music after that horrible tape (w/a 14 yr. girl) was released. Humphrey Bogarts and his wife reportly assaulted each other frequently, yet he continued to make movies. Josh Brolin was nonimated for awards in 08. Christian Slater and his ex, heck even Whitney and Bobby. Need I go on? IMO situations/ppl turn on the blind eye when dead presidents are involved. This is all centered around making money off of damaged people.
ReplyDeleteIf people are still buying R. Kelly albums then sh#* .. no one cares :(
