Nicolas Cage Hits Hard Times
Nicolas Cage is such a pompous ass. He would like us to all believe that he is hurting financially. I will tell you what hurts Nic. It hurts to watch those plugs of yours do lousy movie after lousy movie while you rake in $10M. That is what hurts. Oh, and making people spend $15 to go see the crap as well.
What brought all of this about is that Nic sold his castle in Bavaria. Two years ago he bought a 28 room castle which sits on a modest 410 acres and set him back about $2.6M. Considering that will maybe get you 3 bedroom fixer upper in Beverly Hills on a very tiny lot, that seems like a pretty good deal to me. Apparently though Nic doesn't agree. He told the German magazine Bunte, "Due to the difficult economic situation, unfortunately, I was no longer able to keep it."
Uh huh. Whatever. I guess we are supposed to feel sorry for him, but I'm not buying it. "Even if Neidstein castle is no longer in my possession, it will always have a firm place in my memory." Yeah, that's why no one has seen you at the place in 18 months. See, he didn't sell it because of the difficult economic times, he sold it because he has too damn many houses all over the world and couldn't find time to use it. I would love to see the studios tell him they can't give him as much money for his next movie due to the tough economic times and see if he agrees with it then.
Does he still have the incredible collection of rolling metal, Ferrari's, Lambo's, etc?
ReplyDeleteI cannot stand this man. How did he ever become a movie star? His uncle really did a favour casting him in Peggy Sue Got Married, but he should never have gotten gigs on his own. He's awful.
ReplyDeleteI hope he has hit hard financial times. It's the only justification for his crappy movies. I still can't wash the stench from Knowing off me
ReplyDeleteI don't like the action movie stuff, but I really liked watching him in Moonstruck, some vampire thing (Vampire's Kiss?) and Raising Arizona.
ReplyDeleteHe plays odd really well...to me.
Maybe TOO well... : )
Oh- and Family Man (?)
Oh my gosh, am I a Nicholas Cage fan???? I'd never considered that.
I don't care particularly for Nic Cage, but I do have a really big, special, beautiful, OLD house and the maintenance on it is truly inordinately expensive. It occasionally makes me wish at times that I was living in my parents' spare room! :)
ReplyDeleteI used to love him. Remember Vampire's Kiss? Hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI thought Con Air was a good-time action flick.
Didn't hate Lord of War.
Now, he does seem to have the mystery/non-hunk/intellectual Indy Jones-type movie pegged.
But everyone says what a douches he is...dunno.
lol@Tax Lawyer
ReplyDeleteAnnMarie, yep that was Vampire's Kiss, one of my favorite movies. I don't know what the hell happened to this guy. He's so fucking cheesy now. I can't believe it's the same person in that movie.
ReplyDeleteIt may be that he really is hurting for cash. The castle is not the only property he is selling.
ReplyDeleteIs was a BAD idea to spend all that money in awful wigs and mail order teen asian brides...
He doesn't know what hard times is about. How about people living in tent cities because they lost a job, have a degree and still can't find a friggin job. motherfucker.
ReplyDeleteI was just saying to my husband, times are hard we should sell one of our islands or maybe the vineyard....
ReplyDeletedon't care for nic cage.
holy cow. what is the world coming to? nic has to sell his castle because of the economic downturn!
ReplyDeletewhat's next? ordinary 'everyday people' losing THEIR houses?
On his IMDB biography page it says he's also selling his Rhode Island estate.
ReplyDeleteI think he's just flipping them for cash.
It has nothing to do with hardship.
isn't he the guy of this blind item about an actor with bad hair who lose many money at poker so he will do another crap franchise movie?
ReplyDeleteway to milk public sympathy, nic.
ReplyDeletei don't get how this guy descended into toolville. he was pretty cool back during his 90s-vegas movies days.
i loved "valley girl". made me watch most of his movies.
ReplyDeletei'd love to own a bavarian castle....
What a tool! I do love to make fun of him in ConAir though.
ReplyDeleteThe whole " Put down the bunny" makes me howl.
I am suprised the wife hasn't taken him for his castle and a whole lot of child support.
I liked the National Treasure movies as well as Valley Girl, True Romance, Snake Eyes, Wild At Heart, Leaving Las Vegas, and Honeymoon in Vegas. That's all.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think pomme reminded us of the real reason he may be selling up ...
ReplyDeleteThe Weatherman. Worst.Movie.Ever. It was bad even for him.
No one hires him! His production company Saturn Films is the only one who'll hire him. He's a drunk and awful actor/actool!!
ReplyDeleteI can recite ALL of "Raising Arizona"..."say, boys..."; I truly cannot believe this is the same dude who played H.I. McDonough so brilliantly. Jesus H.
ReplyDeleteDouchey McVagisil. Ick.
I lost all utter respect for this man after learning he trolled around Le Prive in K-town to meet his wife.
ReplyDeleteBtw, got dragged to see "Knowing" last wknd... felt like I was in sunday school.
ReplyDeleteNature girl, I couldnt agree with you more. I couldnt even watch the whole Peggy Sue movie, as his acting, if thats what you want to call it, was soooo bad. While I love Moonstruck, it has nothing to do with him, Cher and the entire cast, sans Nic reminded me of my own Italian family, particulary the parents and grandparents.
ReplyDelete"The Weatherman. Worst.Movie.Ever. It was bad even for him."
ReplyDeleteHave you seen The Wicker Man? That was my vote for Worst.Movie.Ever.
Oh my god. I went to his IMDB page, and how have I not heard of this?! "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" Nic Cage, Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Jennifer Coolidge, Fairuza Balk, Brad Dourif, Xzibit, and Vondie Curtis-Hall in a Werner Herzog movie? Holy cow, this is either going to be the best or the worst movie ever.
ReplyDeleteSo he's selling a home he doesn't use, what's the problem with that?
ReplyDelete(Hated his stupid mannerisms and voice in Peggy Sue Got Married, which was a good movie in spite of him.)
Mooshki, I think my mind has blotted out his version of Wicker Man.
ReplyDeleteMethinks that Bad Lieutenant will be epic on the scale of Showgirls. Cult classic.
He had good chemistry with Eva in Ghost Rider-hope they make a part 2. I know Nic's homely but it just tickles me to death that he gets all these movie roles, gets great box office while the pretty boys in Hollywood pout on the casting couches with no results.
