Bea Arthur Has Died

Beatrice Arthur, the tall, deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines made her a TV star in the hit shows "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" and who won a Tony Award for the musical "Mame," died Saturday. She was 86.

Lady Godiva was a freedom rider,
she didn't care of the whole world looked.
Joan of Arc, with the lord to guide her,
she was a sister who really cooked.
Isadora was a first bra burner
Aint' ya glad she showed up?
And when the country was falling apart
Betsy Ross got it all sewed up
And then there's Maude

The first video is a Sex And The City spoof, Bea did for the TV Land Awards

  13. I really didn't want to believe this when I heard about it this morning. I once made a blog about how I didn't want to live in a world where there was no Bea Arthur. This is too sad. My favorite Golden Girl is no more. :(

  21. She was so very classy. The stars of today, both male and female, should wish they could have such class and grace.

  24. when Maude first went head-to-head with Archie Bunker, I was 8 years old and a budding feminist. May the wonderful Bea Arthur rest in peace knowing she was a role model for a generation.
