Zac Efron Wants To Be Thor

Zac Efron sure does know how to win over studio executives. For the past 8 months, Zac has been involved in Footloose. Everything has been moving forward and getting ready to shoot, and then Zac put a screeching halt to the whole thing last week when he dropped out of the movie. Apparently Zac doesn't want to dance to a bunch of Kenny Loggins songs and make out with Lori Singer and Sarah Jessica Parker. Oh, wait, that was the original Footloose. The good one with the Penn brother that people actually liked.

Anyway, Zac doesn't want to be known as a guy who only does singing and dancing and wants to be taken seriously as an actor. I think he tried that with that Me And Orson Welles thing. Notice it hasn't been released yet even though it was supposed to be in the middle of last year. That should give you an idea of how great the acting is.

I don't know why Zac would just throw away good money. Maybe he thinks he can be Thor or some kind of hero franchise. What heroes are left anyway? Oooh, maybe he can be Barnacle Boy if they ever do a live action version. I don't know what he is going to do, but he sure isn't going to be playing chicken with a tractor.

  2. He is very stupid--that is the perfect vehicle for his talents.
I am not sure what roles he thinks he should be taking, but this was a good opportunity for him.

  3. Quintessential Southerner: I don't think he'll hit Lohan bottom. Maybe Tom Cruise bottom or Ryan Seacrest bottom, but I don't think Lohan bottom would appeal to him.

  5. I hope the movie just folds. As much as I don't want people to have wasted money and effort, I'm not a big fan of movie remakes, especially of decent movies from not that long ago. I also hope Zac just goes away. So many actors give up paying gigs because they want to be "serious movie stars". It's dumb and I'm sick of it.

  6. spot on, gladys!! what was i thinking?

  7. I think he is making a mistake. But what the hell does he care what I think?

  8. Who's going to take him serious as an actor with that gay face of his. :/

  9. Barnacle Boy? That's hilarious.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

  10. I'm still in shock that Enty referred to the first Footloose as "the good one".

lol@this, he is very gay looking.

So he was into making Footloose for 8 months and all of a sudden he feels he wants to do a serious movie. I think this is more like he wants more money.

  12. I agree with lutefisk. I can totally see him dancing to "Let's Hear it for the Boy."

  13. I'm not a fan of remakes either, but the only thing that would make this better than Zac's career inevitably dropping off the side of the universe, would be for some random guy to take his spot and then the movie end up becoming a HUGE success and skyrocket the replacement's career. You know, kind of like how Scott Baio passed on Top Gun...

Scott Baio passed on Top Gun??
Wow, what a different world this might have been, lol.

Zac passed on it 'cause he realized it might muss his hair.

  15. CAN'T STAND HIS FACE...DON'T THINK HE'S PRETTY...BUT I DO THINK HE'S AN IDIOT..

  16. I'm still trying to figure out what Zac Efron did to piss you off enty, other than merely existing. Or did you try to hit on him and he turned you down?

Instead of writing intelligently about this and maybe contributing some useful insight you come off as a biased idiot.

The remake is a bad idea. Efron was trying to make it work and finally gave up. He already gave them eight months to make it work and they haven't done it yet. Why should he stick around and waste more time for them to get it right? It is clearly not a good project, give him kudos for taking the high road and not just making a shitty movie to make an easy five million bucks.

And as far as Linklater's Me and Orson Welles goes, your bias puts you so far out of touch with reality it is a joke... you can't even report the details right. Me and Orson Welles was not supposed to be released in the middle of last year, it was still in post-production then.

When it was first screened at Toronto and again when it was screened at South by Southwest, it got mostly good reviews. The acting is fine, even perfect according to some... and not just Efron's. Christian McKay as Orson Welles is amazing. They are waiting to release it to make sure his stellar turn as Welles can be recognized at the very least with an Oscar nomination.

Get your facts straight. I know it is your prerogative to post whatever you want with whatever slant you want, but you lose credibility with every post like this.

  17. Uh oh, Enty, the Zefron fan club is out to get you!

  18. Haha. No I'm not pr, but thanks for thinking so highly (or is it lowly) of me. I'm just a grad student who actually listens when my profs tell me to not blindly believe everything I read and to evaluate it for intention and subtext. I am in the zefron fan club though.

But seriously enty must have been shot down at some point by Efron. Why the fuck else would he have such a vendetta against someone that even a majority of ontd seems to love. And ontd can be real bitches sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Much as I love it, the ONTD community is mostly composed of horny 17-year-old girls. :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I don't even know what ontd is, but I hate Zac Efron. And it's got nothing to do with Enty. I just started coming here and I hated Zac's gayface waaaay before that.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow, generalize much? I won't disagree that there is a large contingent of teens on ontd. But there are a lot of 20-somethings (and older) too. Oh and don't forget the horny gay boys too. But whatever the age, gender, and sexual orientation, the discussions there (as bitchy as they can get) are far more witty, more intelligent and more informed than the posts and convos on this blog.

  22. Wow, Sporky's definitely a keeper, hating someone for a gay face. So smart and open-minded. Love it. You're just the kind of person to take home to ma and pa.

  23. Oh! Well! Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, there, nota darling.

On second thought, I hope it does hit and leave a big purple welt so painful you'll walk like Zac does after a night of vigorous fisting.

    :) Toodles!

    xoxo

  24. And yes I am a keeper. :)) Thanks for noticing!

  25. oh, lord, here we go again.
sporky, luv, don't feed the troll. no good can ever come from it.

  26. I didn't read all the comments cause I'm wicked lazy today but isn't he the answer to the blind about no one wanting to lend their music to his movie cause he's a whimpy little tool? Maybe that's why he dropped out. Either way, he's a fool. I hope he saved his money.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You guys just crack me up! Toodles!!!!

  28. About the ONTD thing, tbh I think Zac is pretty vain aroud there, people may think he's hot, but he doesn't have too many loyal fans who wants the best for him and will see anything he's in. So you should get over ONTD, nota.

    ReplyDelete
  29. What is ONTD? And he DOES have gayface. Bigtime

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well I don't see him having a long shelf life outside musical theater.
I did think he was the blind where NO one would write music for someone who acted like a tool. Zac always seemed a little too PRETTY and way too vain. I never understood his appeal.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sporky, you more than most here, sound like a real imbecile.

    ReplyDelete
  32. nota troll: If you have such an issue with our inferior little blog site, then do yourself (and everyone else) a favour and GTFO.
I don't understand why people keep reading a site, just so they can comment on how bad they think it is.

And you're one to talk about stereotypes, missy. Thinking Enty can only have a negative opinion to your precious fem-boy because he got rejected? Oh, so it's okay for you to hint at being gay as an insult, but not others (and FYI you may want to read the adorable post on him choosing presents for his girlfriend - search for burberry)...
Newflash sweetpea - i hate the no-talent little pussy more than Enty (at least i presume), and i can assure you i didn't get knocked back (nor have i ever found his appearance as anything other than mockable).

If you want to tweak your bean to him, that's fine and dandy; but don't assume that no one else has taste (and yes, your belief of his level of talent comes from your fangirling - no better than the Twi-hards).

Oh, and high road? Really?! How many High School movies did he do again?

    P.S. Sporky - LOL x2!

    P.P.S. ONTD is this: http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/

Not worth pasting it into your address bar IMO. Full of bitches and horny teens (as Moosh pointed out). Oddly enough ontd fashinfags is fabulous.

P.P.P.S. Yes, this is a really bitchy post, but screw it. Not deleting a thing :)

  33. ONTD = community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/

They collect celeb gossip from lots of sites. I love the site, but it's mobbed by Zefron Twilighters. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :)

I do agree with Nota, "gayface" is not an acceptable insult.

    But this:

"...the discussions there (as bitchy as they can get) are far more witty, more intelligent and more informed than the posts and convos on this blog."

With some exceptions on both sides, not true!

  34. Ah, the joy of dialup. (Not!) You beat me to the explanation, kitten. :)

  35. Btw, if you haven't watched South Park this season, they've done hysterial sendups of HSM, Twilight and the Jonas Bros.

    ReplyDelete
  36. @BlahFrickinBlah

I also thought this was related to that blind item about the movie that no musicians were willing to lend their music to bc they thought the project was a joke.

Wish I could find the original blind. I think it sounded like the project was falling apart...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh, my God. Someone actually cares about Zac Efron. Not in a million years would this child ever interest me.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ahh, guys, quit hating on the kid-- I have to admit that I watched HSM - even went to the theatre for the last one (with my then 7 and 12 y/olds) - and enjoyed it. It is a "clean" movie. Z does have a 'pretty face' but so does my son (when he cares to clean up :-) lol ) and he is so much a boy it is not funny. At least (so far anyway) Z has not been caught smoking, toking, rehabbing, falling out of a bar at 4 am, you know - all of those things that the other Hollywood 'role models' are so good at...

I'd hate to think I was a 20 year old living under a microscope like he is. Yes, comes with the territory, but still.... I do hope he succeeds and also hope he really is NOT the douche so many here think he is.

  40. Diana, I don't think anyone thinks he's a douche, but it's a little hard to take him seriously as an actor. :)

  41. Moosh--

Thanks! I was afraid you would all hate on me for admitting I'm not an 'anti-Z'.

Well, at least I'm not an 'ecta Z'.

    :-0

  42. Woops--

    ecsta-Z

Was so proud of my play on words that I forgot how to spell...

  43. Totally off topic (sort of at least) here-- but if anyone is still reading this thread-- What is YOUR take on the JoBro's?? As I mentioned earlier - I have a 7 almost 8 year old girl so I'm held captive to *that* channel more than I care to think about. I just CANNOT get on that train (even though their posters are on her wall!) and think that that one of them is more femme than most girls at the prom - he just needs a pink Gunne Sax gown. From what I see from the pictures/ shows at least... Am I the only one who thinks that THEY are a bit blown out of proportion?
