TLC Going On Tour

I don't usually write about bands going on tour, because, lets face it they all go on tour and it would get boring and monotonous. It has to be pretty special for me to talk about it. You know. Zeppelin reuniting, Freddie Mercury rising from the dead, or Barney & The Wiggles together on stage. Something special.

Anyway, The T&C of TLC are getting back together and performing shows for the first time since Lisa Lopes died in 2002. Has it been that long? Damn, I am getting old. TLC is starting off their tour in Japan so I'm guessing some promoter over there must have offered them a bunch of money, and now hopefully it will extend from there and be one last world tour.

On her Twitter account, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins said that tour practice starts today for the pair and that they will be performing 17 songs.

  1. I guess they need to make $ like anyone else, but this just seems wrong.

  2. Mooshki was is it wrong? They didn't kill Lisa.

I'm glad they're touring again. They've mourned way too long over Lisa's death. I hope they add a third singer not as a replacement but someone who can sing the higher notes.

  4. i don't have an issue w/ them touring...but really, hasn't their time come and gone? i can't see them selling any venue that is more than 2-3 thou. capacity at a time, if that.

  5. What happaned to the chick who won that reality series they had where they were trying to find a replacement for Lisa? I don't remember what it was called, but I do remember watching it, to the great dismay of my husband.

Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with them touring...I think they might have still been around and successful if Lisa had not died.

  7. I meant "Wrong" as in "strange," not "unethical." I'm not saying they're bad people for doing it, just that it doesn't feel like it will really be TLC. There are some bands I just don't think should keep going after they lose a crucial member. See INXS.

I would prefer if they had a new name, but on a practical level, with all the time that has passed, the possible familiarity people may have with the name is one of the few things that may work in their favor.

I hope it works out well for them.

  10. Southerner: Black don't crack. They do look great. Lisa was stunning even w/o a stitch of makeup on. The sign of a true beauty.

I don't know how I feel about them touring without Lisa. I kinda agree with Mooshki. It's just not the same. Lisa was a huge part of the group. Going out with a name change would be more appropriate I think. I do miss this group big time. I have their greatest hits in my car right now. RIP Lisa. Good luck to T Boz and Chilli.

  12. If any of you are fans of TLC T-Boz is on the Celebrity Apprentice but they don't really give her any screen time.

I'm still watching it until the Donald fires her, then I'm firing the Donald.
