American Idol Shocker!!!!
Every story I have seen today makes it seem like what happened yesterday and this morning in American Idol is the equivalent of front page news that should be splashed in banner headlines around the world. For those of you who choose not to watch American Idol or didn't catch the entire drama here it is according to me.
Apparently, like last year on the show there was a contestant this year who had already had a single (Let It Slide) and album (This Crazy Life) released on a major label. Neither did that great and so Joanna Pacitti kind of faded away. Kind of. While she was fading she allegedly became involved with an executive of 19 Management which is one of the companies that oversees the show. Lo and behold, Joanna auditions for the show, gets picked and makes it to the final 36. She made it to the final 36 despite the fact she wasn't supposed to be there because of her prior experience, and that because this is essentially a game show, any interaction with an executive of the show could be considered attempting to fix the outcome of the game. There have already been reports that anything negative she has done along the way such as forgetting words or missing notes has been edited out in an attempt to make her the clear favorite.
Well after making the final 36 last night, FOX executives stepped in and replaced with her a married mother from Virginia Beach named Felicia Barton. If you want to see the video and hear the song Joanna previously released it is down below.
good, that was the right thing to do.
ReplyDeleteShe should never have made it as far as she did, period.
ReplyDeleteEvery season, this show gets lets credible. I haven't watched it this year and I'm glad.
sorry not a fan...just don't get the lure of reality shows like AI, DWTS..etc. I guess they appeal to some but i can't be bothered. We have Canadian Idol up here, couldn't tell you one name of winners or runner ups.....
ReplyDeletethere were two contestants who had records last year, so i don't think they follow that rule much. why they felt the need to make a correction this year is a mystery. what's the difference between her and the woman from ireland and the guy from australia from last year?
ReplyDeleteMolly: the difference is she was screwing one of the executives of the management company that handles Idol winners.
ReplyDeleteThe problem isn't that she had a record deal (or was the Broadway lead in Annie before being fired when she was like 12). The problem was that she had a relationship with one of the producers. Apparently, she lives in the same apartment building (don't know how she would pay for that given that she is unemployed). Also, Kara Dioguardi seemed to know her well from her recording days. And she was given unfair consideration. They did a little recap last night showing how she forgot the words in ALL of her Hollywood week performances, but still made it through. One girl, an awesome singer who remembered the words to all her songs, was made to do a "sing off" to stay in the competition because she wears ugly clothes. But this one was let through with no problem.
ReplyDeletePlease commence with all the comments about me having no life.
Thanks for the info, notvotingforsuckno. Don't sweat the no life bit.
ReplyDeleteThis chick got her name out there regardless and maybe a tabloid will pay her for an "exclusive, inside story." Then she'll fade away into obscurity.
She's like the song. Bland, mediocre, nothing special. No wonder she's failed over and over.
ReplyDeletecanadachick- Canadian Idol got the axe and we are all spared from looking into Ben Mulroney's tenhead.
ReplyDeleteI thought American Idol was for Amateurs. I don't watch the show but that's what I thought the whole thing was about when it first started.
ReplyDeletewhat the hell is so hard about having this show confined to people who haven't had a record deal before? it's totally unfair to the ones who truly are trying to get started.
ReplyDeletethis one smells a little worse than the previous incidents did, IMO. you could deduce that maybe she got involved with this exec precisely for this reason. P to the U.
I remember her. She had a song on the Legally Blonde soundtrack. Definitely needed to be disqualified.
ReplyDeleteDo people on AI think people are not going to find out the were on major labels or something? Ridiculous.
Knowing this info now, it really pisses me off when Simon said last night that she just needs "a break". She had her break - record deal, fucking a producer. If those didn't make her a hit singer, AI wouldn't do it either.
ReplyDeleteAny publicity is good publicity I guess.
ReplyDeletekristen, she's the one he said that about? how fucking stupid do they think we're going to remain given how quickly this news gets out? dumbass!
ReplyDeleteand what about the fact that Simon said plain as day, you forget the words, you're out.
ReplyDeleteshe forgot them like 3 times since auditions!
oh, i just let on i watch this shitshow.
(backs away slowly)
She should have never gotten that far.
ReplyDeleteThat chick has the creepiest mouth....look at her teeth, they curve--god, I'm going to have nightmares. It's like those people who have little tiny teeth...*shudder*.
watching that makes me upset for all the parents of young girls.. i hope she gets rid of the people she is around. love & healing to all the ozzy folks - love with ya from WA. Do you need stuff?? let us know and i'd bet an outstanding amount of aid/help would come from us!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the AI rules state that you can't have a CURRENT recording contract, nothing wrong with having one in the past.
ReplyDeleteBut it's obvious she should not have made it past Hollywood week, on Wednesday's episode this week they showed us clips of her forgetting the lyrics in all or most of her Hwood songs. It's kind of funny they showed us that, it basically proves she made it through because of her connections to the show. Now they want us to know she forgot her lyrics so that makes it OK she's gone? Whatever, we now know why she got there in the first place. Stay classy AI!
She wasn't a great singer, I doubt she would have made the top 10 without behind the scenes manipulation of votes.
I am bummed to learn Canadian Idol was cancelled, I didn't know. I used to live near the border and I always thought CI was better than AI. Who could forget the best ever, season 3! Kalan Porter and Jacob Hoggard! if they had been on AI they would both be insanely popular right now IMO.
