That Has To Hurt The Ego

I thought about just including this in the Quick Hits, but in the end decided that a blow to the ego this massive needs its very own post. I don't know if you remember last year at this time? No? Me either. But apparently askmen.com does this Top 99 most desirable women in the world and they do it at this time of the year. This most desirable woman is not to be confused with Esquire's sexiest or People's sexiest or whatever Maxim and the other magazines call their list. No, this is an entirely separate list and is allegedly entirely fan driven with no publicist input.

Well last year, Katherine Heigl was voted the most desirable woman on the list. When she heard about it she probably did the Mendes Starbucks Strut. It's amazing though what happens when your show starts doing poorly, don't have a hit movie that is watched by a bunch of horny guys, and can't count on your publicist to help. You drop in the list. You drop really far down the list. You drop so far down that only a last minute online campaign by your assistants and husband and TR Knight saves you from completely dropping off the list. When you go from #1 to #81 in one year you know that you had a really bad year.

I don't care who you are or how big your head and ego are, that is a massive blow. To go from being at the top of the world to competing with fictional cartoon characters for a spot in the most desirable has to hurt. Has to.

  1. funny you mention the Eva Mendes starbucks strut - she was #1 on the list this year!

  2. Saw the list and it seemed..disodered. I mean they put Eva Mendes at #1 and Angelina JOlie at #32 or 34 or something. Anne Hathaway was #5

Ask Men was clearly inebriated when composing the list.

  3. That list was a complete waste of time. The point of it was to look beyond looks and focus on desirability in terms of charm and intelligence, or so I interpreted. How is it possible that Kate Winslet was #99? Angelina was in the 30's?

As for Katherine, I'm one of the minority who will admit to thinking she's cool. She's loud, sure, but let's be honest here: her decision to pull out of the Emmys last year was totally justified. Her storyline DID suck and a nomination would have been completely ridiculous. That show has been going downhill since, and frankly, she's one of the more highly watchable characters on it. Then, they go and give her a ghost plotline. Idiots. Whatever you want to say about her, she's charismatic and her beauty is sort of obvious, even if you live to hate her. Me, I'm all for the loudmouth broads who aren't afraid to tell it like it is. There aren't too many of them who can back it up in the film/tv industry.

  5. I totally agree, Kat. I'd rather a dozen of her than a dozen of these vapid, saccharine bimbos.

If that's suppose to be KH, doesn't look like her.

Girls like Katherine Heigl are a dime a dozen in HWood. She's nothing special (when it comes to both looks and acting I might add) and is lucky to be on any list other than "100 Most Obnoxiously Ungrateful Slags".

  8. I still like her too. Wouldn't necessarily want to work with her, though.

  9. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving stuck-up snob.

  11. I am with you, Kat.

I don't mind having a ballsy broad speaking her mind in Hollywood. She gets so much criticism for speaking the truth, having a mind of her own, and being a loyal friend. Lots of people have been complaining about the Grey's anatomy story lines, but she says one stray comment, and everyone jumps to the offense.

I like her and her character. Suck it.

  12. God this bitch is a rude boring hag.

Hopefully she will stop making ANY lists and just go the fuck away.

Seriously, she can't act for shit.

  15. I can't stand Heigl. It's one thing to be outspoken, it's another thing to be disrespectful to your colleagues.

There's lots of outspoken women out there who are quite capabable of expressing strong opinions without being jerks about it. Wanda Sykes anyone?

  16. I very rarely watch Grey's Anatomy, but I watched tonight. I'm in a masochistic mood I guess. What a load of shit. So is she going to get killed off? Or get carted away to the loony bin?

  17. Amen, shakey. Grey's is completely unwatchable but it isn't only Katherine's fault. I have to say, my issues with Katherine have more to do with her attitude. She didn't nominate herself for an emmy because of crappy writing? Is that a way to make friends and influence people? I read her Vanity Fair cover article last year and was just left cold. She just seems really, really ungrateful for what she has.

  18. I think she's beautiful and is really very good on Grey's (when I watch it). Actually, I only watch the parts where Jeffrey Dean Morgan is on.....
