Sounds Just Like A Regular Party
Last night Fergie and Josh Duhamel had a party for a few of their friends in the run up to their wedding this Saturday. Fergie and Josh called it a joint bachelor/bachelorette party. I don't think so. I don't think you can have a joint one of those. I think what they had was just a party with a bunch of their friends. You can call it an engagement party, a rehearsal party, or the hey she doesn't always look like a man party, or whatever you want, but it was not a bachelor or bachelorette party.
I am not saying that every person needs to have one of those parties, I just think it is setting a bad example for all of the people out there getting married who wanted a night to get drunk with all their friends one last time. Oh sure, you can get drunk after marriage and hang out with your friends, but it is never the same. There is always that voice in the back of your head asking yourself if you took out the trash, is she going to be pissed that I went to a strip club and how do I explain the indecent exposure ticket. All of these things are trivial prior to getting married.
I just hope that Fergie and Josh have not started some trend now for joint parties because all the male and female strippers will go out of business and Vegas will practically shut down. Hell if you are going to have a joint party, the next thing you know you will be inviting the parents and in-laws and sitting down and watching home movies while your future mother-in-law heads back into the kitchen for her apple crumble.
Sounds like a swell time.
ReplyDeleteyawwwwwwwn...hey, look at the time
Enty, ITA with you. LOL
ReplyDeletei know a few people who have sone joint parties and it is usually fun...i also know a lot of guys and girls who arent into strippers...i am sure it isnt for everyone but it certainly isnt unheard of...
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Vamp. Ours was joint as well, and fun for everyone. Not everyone wants to act stupid.
ReplyDeletehey trista and ryan did it first and look how well that turned out!
ReplyDelete(they fought all night long)
I like Stag & Doe's. They can be a lot of fun, and both parties wind up having a whole lot less 'splainin' to do... ;)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry...if the bachelor/ette party industry tanks too much, they can always go to the fed'l government for a handout :)
ReplyDeleteWhat would Vegas be without the whooping-it-up groups of too young ladies doing Patron shots with the drunkest of the bunch wearing a silly wedding veil and the word "bride" stretched across the boobs of her tank top??
ReplyDeleteIs drunkest a word?
i just dont think there is that much of a difference between being married or not. i would hate it if my other half went to a strip club no matter what, cause i think its really disrespectful and gross. Having a joint party would be the way to go for us too.
ReplyDeleteMy friend had a joint Bachelor/bachelorette cruise and everyone had an amazing time. Some people don't need to look at another person naked "one last time" before getting married. I for one would not enjoy having some gross man shaking his peen in my face thank you.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for people who feel like they need "one last" party. My partner and I love being around each other so much, we'd always want to party together. That to me, is a true sign of wanting to be together forever. I always want to be hanging out with him, because he's the funniest and most enjoyable person I know. And if you really need a last hurrah...are you ready to be getting married? I'd love to be surrounded by scantily clad women and men, but around my partner would be even better.
ReplyDeletebad fish, you expressed what i was trying to say! I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteAround here Buck and Doe parties have been a regular option for quite a few decades.
ReplyDeleteBad fish that is so nice.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are not into parties even though once in a while we do go to one. We rather be with each other and have a nice quiet time.
I don't think too many realize what they have in their life until it's too late.
I don't think most people put that much thought into a bachelor party as being the "last party". I think it's just another one of those traditions people follow out of habit. Like the garter belt etc.
ReplyDeleteuhh christina aguilera and carmen electra both had joint bachelor parties. this is nothing new.
ReplyDeletewhen i get married (never) i am havign the biggest blowout party to say goodbye to my single years and i hope my boo does the same.
ReplyDeleteit's like a tradition, not an excuse to look at all the tits you will never touch. but he can look at them all he wants, i'm secure and i'll have a ring.lol.
it's and end of an era i guess.
Who says you can't have a joint party with strippers? Have your cake and lick it off of a sex worker, too!
ReplyDeleteShockingly, one of the best parties I've ever been to was a buck and doe. And these were religious Baptist people, too. The groom was HAMMERED. He passed out in the kitchen of the place they rented and his mother put radishes on his eyes and whatnot, then invited us to take pictures. It really was a lot of fun, loud people, loud music. The wedding? Not so much. Bride's side of the family made sure the music was so low it was basically background music.
ReplyDeleteEnty,
ReplyDeleteWhat about stag and doe parties? We have them up here in "Canadaland" all the time and the tend to be a bit bawdy and silly. Often they are a fundraiser/drunk for all the friends (and sometimes family) of the bridge AND groom.
I just think of it as a pre-celebration leading up to the big event.

i encouraged the hubby to have a party, because he really hadn't partied much. and i trusted him. so his best friends got together (two of his best friends are husband and wife) and threw him a little "do".
ReplyDeletethey whipped out the rented video tape to play on the giant video projector tv....
"the hills have eyes"
the original. the horror, not whore, flick.
i felt so bad for him! but he still had a good time, that was the point.
i don't even remember what my two friends and i did, i think we just hung at their house with their folks and shared stories.
so it doesn't have to be strippers and sex toys.
and our wedding was a blast!!
