Michael Cera Is On Double Secret Probation

Apparently Michael Cera is living in his own world which has its own voices and people talking to him and doesn't hear anything else. I think he is single handedly trying to destroy the Arrested Development movie. I know I have discussed this before, but I also know this is important to many of us. Every single article and interview I have read or watched has all said the same thing. The movie is ready to go, and that Michael Cera is the only holdout.

Well, at Sundance, Michael Cera was promoting his new movie "Paper Heart" where he plays a goofy, but lovable slacker teenager who always has a wide eyed look of amazement. Oh, wait a second. That is every damn role he has ever done. Yes, Michael you are a one role actor so I hope you are saving all the money you are making now because the acting roles are going to dry up unless you can figure out how to actually act and not be yourself.

Anyway, in this interview Cera says that an Arrested Development movie is way down the road and is "more hypothetical than people think." OK, then how come every actor and actress from the show have already said it is ready to go and only the goofy one thinks it is more of a maybe. I can just see the interview with Cera in a year saying the same thing while the movie is premiering.

  1. At this point, I don't want him in the movie. My contempt for him will prevent me from the pure enjoyment I expect to experience.

  2. Does ANYONE see him being offered roles once he gets past this "gawky teenager" persona?

Nope. Take the money and RUN Michael. See you at the Target check out lanes in 10 years!

  3. I'm starting the feel the same way, Mooshki. He only proves that he's an ass by being the only one who seems to "know" it's not ready to go. Write him out!

  4. Also, Maeby deserves to get herself a hot stud! ;)

  5. I agree. Just do it without him. Or use a large stuffed doll to represent him. Or have his role played by David Hasselhoff. Anything. I WANT THIS MOVIE.

Appreciate what you've been offered you dumb tool.

He can and should be recast.

  8. I think i read an interview with the creator of AD that said he hadn't written the script yet. So I don't think it is ready to go...

    Let me find it.

  9. He was waiting to write the script to see who was going to be involved. What parts to write. Why write a whole storyline about George Michael if he has no intention of being involved...

  10. This is from last week, on the TV Critics Association tour.

It looks like Mitch Hurwitz is waiting to write a script until he knows who is involved, and Michael Cera is waiting to get involved until he has read a script. A viscious cycle, I tells ya.

  11. The thing is - I understand why he wants to get away from those types of roles - But to not go back and work on the thing that got you a career in the first place? what an ass.

  12. It happens (people wanting to get away from roles). But he has no right to destroy my dream, damn it.

Just the other night I was watching the episode where Tobias accidentally takes an extreme closeup of his balls and emails it to Bluth company, where it is mistaken for photos of Iraq, resulting in a federal raid.

And Maeby tells Steve Holt that her mom is a transsexual and has her wear that "Shemale" shirt to lunch with him and tells her it's by a designer called "She-mal-i"

I want my movie, damnit, with all my characters. Michael Cera can expect a knee to the groin if I ever run into him.

  14. Make the damn movie without him.

Dumb question I know but I forgot where the term "double secret probation" came from? I'm thinking "Get Smart", but somehow it's not feeling right.

  15. And by the way, how is "Gilligan" getting away from those types of roles, Michael? What, you just want to be the big star and get paid more $? Yeah, that's what I thought.

^^What Jenna said. Not embracing his real, original role on Arrested Development would be a friggin slap in the face to the cast and audience. You were on my freebie 5, Michael, but if you don't get your butt signed, trust that they'll be a replacement.

  18. it would be funnier to either
    a) write him out of the story.
    b) have him played by another actor, preferably someone who looks totally different and/or is african-american.

Yes, please! That would be brilliant, and very A.D.
