Don't Mess With Hayden

If Hayden Panettiere keeps acting this tough, I might have to give her the same honor that I give The Zooey, although I am feeling fairly confident there are not that many Zooeys in the world so everyone knows to whom I am referring. Hayden on the other hand is a fairly common name even in the celebrity world. Oh well. I will think of something.

Anyway, like many teenagers around the world who are not old enough to drink Hayden snuck into a bar to see some music while she was in New York before Christmas. According to E!, apparently Hayden was there for just a few minutes before security saw that she looked too young and pulled her out of the crowd and asked for i.d.

Let's stop right there for a second before continuing on with the story. This was in Suffern, New York. The club didn't care who she was or how famous Hayden was. The only thing the club cared about was not losing their liquor license. In Hollywood, there is no way anyone would have gone up to Hayden and (a) asked her for i.d or (b) even if they knew she was only 19, kicked her out. They would have instead stashed her in a VIP room and if she chose to partake in underage drinking, they would have allowed it. So, are you starting to see where that sense of entitlement starts?

OK, so back to the story. Even though Hayden did not try to order booze and was not caught drinking, the policy is to take the license from the offender and kick them out of the club. Hayden let herself be kicked out of the club, but called the cops to come help her get her license back. How many of us would have just walked away and hung our heads in shame? Actually they could have kept mine because it would have been fake anyway.

So, the cops came and because it was not a fake license and because Hayden needed it to get on a flight, the cops gave it back to her. She probably didn't know if she had committed a crime by being in a 21+ club as a minor, but she didn't care. She wanted that license back. So she called the cops. That takes some big ones.

  1. how the eff did she manage to get the cops to come out and help with THAT? waste of tax dollars. the LAPD dig their own grave so they need to quit whining about having a bad rep.

  2. I believe this was in New York, not L.A.

  3. oops i take that back my disgust got ahead of me..its NYC. but still..come on.

  4. in suffern, ny, they probably had nothing better to do anyway.

  5. And kudos to her if she did this all herself and didn't make some "help" do it.

  6. No it doesn't take guts. The way I read it the policy states that the club owner needed to turn her ID over to the police. It would then be Hayden's responsibility to get the license back from the police.

Hayden didn't feel like waiting for the police so she summoned them to HER so that she could get he license back A.S.A.P. to fly on the plane.

There was still a sense of entitlement, which the police needed to be at her back and call so as not to interfere with her plans.

Of course she knew about the policy she just didn't expect to be treated like an average citizen.

She was probably pissed because she couldn't get wasted and have people fawning over her.

The only guts here is to the club owner.

  7. In Canada, I believe it's illegal to confiscate a non-altered DL--they can be thrown out of the club, but they can't have their license taken (unless they've doctored it).

Wouldn't be surprised if it's the same in NY--though the police would never come out to a club to retrieve it for the patron in Canada....gotta love celebrity.

  8. How the heck does a club get away with taking away someone's valid ID? No-one heard of identity theft? Damn right she called the cops on them.

  9. yea, i would have been hella pissed and probably called the cops, too. and in a town with a population of 11,000, they seriously had nothing better to do.

  10. Yeah, I'm with ms_wonderland: It's a real ID and once the club realized that, they should have just kicked her out and given her her ID outside the door.

  11. 'Hayden' is blah, and usually reminds me of Mr. Wooden Acting. I like 'The Panettiere.' As a bonus, it's a subtle dig at her annoying parents.

Her role in 'Malcolm in the Middle' was one of those that guarantees my love for life.

  12. ...and she didn't even order a drink anyway. I used to do that all the time when I was her age. I went to clubs in NYC to hear the music and dance and no one ever hassled me. Was she alone or did she have her "people" with her? It seems odd that she would have been singled out.

  13. I had a fake ID from the the time I was 15. That was back in the day when you could buy beer and hard liquer in DC at 18. Though we lived in VA, you could often find us at Dixie Liquer and Georgetown bars each weekend.

If I had a problem with anyone, I just flirted -- and amazingly, it worked. I was never truly busted.

I think if Ms. P hadn't been so uppity, she could've smoothed things out without a call to the police.

Considering the fact that she has been known to get her drink on I don't trust that she was "innocent". She's just another Hollywood brat.

  15. how dumb can you be when you are already breaking the law and you call the LAW??

what a snotty brat! they should have tasered her ass...like they do everyday citizens...

and why does the media insist on making her a star? they should be more concerned with the pedophile she's dating and the moronic, sick parents that allow it...

course she thinks she can party with adults, afterall she's screwing one...

So you don't get fine for being illegally at a club for being a minor?

    ReplyDelete
  18. oh I think you're supposed to be fined, but the cops were probably star struck. I doubt many celebs hang out in Suffern.

My husband works at a bar in NJ and a few yrs ago Angie Harmon came in with her brother-in-law who was so drunk that he knocked over a bunch of drinks, and then did it again. Finally after the 2nd time he had to throw them out. She was mortified & ran out of there, and begged them not to make a big deal about it & draw attention to her. Well, at least she was apologetic.

  19. you'd think with that kind of policy someone would be at the door either carding everyone or carding the questionable ones. obviously they dropped the ball in the first place.

kelli - gotta love angie harmon!

  20. J, I totally agree!

  21. This story doesn't sound that outlandish to me. In a big city, she probably wouldn't have been able to find a cop to do that, but in Suffern (a pretty small city), cops handle things differently.

    ReplyDelete
  22. why did she give them her license in the first place?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Kelli- i've met Angie, twice and both times a complete bitch. now THAT is a women who thinks the world owes her for gracing it with her presence. i was quite shocked.

  24. I am so confused. Why would the bouncer take her REAL license? That makes no sense at all.

It was wrong of them to take her real license- I've never heard anything like that before and I did a lot of underage drinking.

  25. ok, I'm trying not to judge.. my new years resolution was to not take life so seriously.. but aren't New York cops the busiest cops in the US? Don't they have you know murders, rapists, and drug dealers to catch? You were talking about entitlement of Paris Hilton earlier well this is much worse... sneaking into a party child's play calling the cops and bugging them in a huge main city b/c your a star is lame.. even the agent who called on Paris I'm not cool with since he called the lapd over a party crasher. kk back to not judging now :D

  26. this is a suburban village in rockland county, not a big city.

  27. i'd never heard of this law. but what's the problem with her getting her license back? she didn't order a drink, it is even *possible* she didn't know it was a problem her being in the club. back in pre-historic times, when i came back to CA (drinking age 21) from GA (drinking age 18, and nobody gave a rat's ass anyway) i was always blown away that i couldn't sit on a patio and have a coke and listen to a band.
now, i agree, she probably just hadn't gotten around to ordering yet, but other than that, i don't see any problem here.
and i do find it funny that people see new york state and think NYC, much like here, where all of southern cal is hollyweird. just gives me the giggles.

  28. On the subject, ENT, has there ever been a situation where a minor has gotten drunk at one of these LA clubs and then got hurt or hurt someone else after leaving? Sooner or later, something like this had to happen and the club would be liable for serving the minor the booze. I know we had an incident similar in my home town where this underage kid went to a bar, got lit up and then ended up getting hit by a car when she was walking home to her dorm. She was killed. The bar didn't card her nor did they monitor the amount she drank. Apparently she was obviously tanked to the point where someone should have cut her off witnesses had said. If one of those little bastards in LA got tanked up and I was on the short end of the stick of their drunkeness, I'd sue the shit out of the club for looking the other way and serving them.

    ReplyDelete
  29. oh ok sorry I didn't realize the cops weren't that busy. But still normal people don't call the cops unless emergency's.. or witnessing a crime. I've only called the cops twice in my life 1st time on my crazy stepmom and 2nd when I witnessed a car theft. If your license is stolen you go down to the police station wait in a really long line and report your item was stolen then you go to the dmv and get a replacement or she could have called the club the next day politely asking for it back after the instance. If she needed to catch a plane I think don't quote me but I think when you file with the police they give you a report and you can have that and a copy of your license or passport and you can get on your plane... sometimes you just need a copy of your report and then go through the increased security line.

  30. WTF, I LIVE in Suffern....how did me, or none of my friends, hear about this????

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would have done the same damn thing. Wouldn't you rather get flack from the cops in Suffern than mess with the TSA?

    ReplyDelete
  32. megan, if you've ever lived in a small town that had a 'police blotter' in the local newspaper, you'd see people call the cops for weirder shit than this.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I can't stand this chick at ALL, but to be honest, if some bouncer tried to hold onto my legit ID I would raise holy hell to get it back! Firstly, with all the identity theft going on, there is no way I would let some club employee have extended access to any of my ID. Secondly, since her job is fairly dependant on her being where she is expected, when it's expected, having anything stand in the way of getting on that plane as planned the next day would be completely unacceptable, and if she had to call the cops, so be it.
As if this club isn't used to having a zillion teens in there, all night, every night.

  34. Entitled bitch exploits civil servants to get her license back (after breaking the law) rather than hire and pay for an attorney who specializes in this.

    Yeah, she's bad-ass.
