Take That Makes A Good Point
Because of the holiday weekend and my drinking activities, I didn't really pay as much attention to the X-Factor fallout from Britney Spears' performance as I should have. Take That which is a great UK group made a really good point when they called Britney's performance crap. X-Factor like American Idol is all about the singing abilities of the performers. Can you imagine if on American Idol everyone was allowed to lip synch? What would be the point of the show? It would be to find the best looking person who could pretend they were singing and they would always win. So, Britney, who is a superstar and thus should have the best voice is allowed to come on and not sing, it kind of ruins the whole point of the show.
"The truth is all the contestants on X Factor are so talented and were able to sing and dance live, so why couldn’t Britney do it? It’s the whole point of the show and her miming looked stupid."
I couldn't stomach the Britney documentary, but FW watched it and said that it was just one long plug for her new album and that Britney said that everyone shaves their head at some point in their life. Uh huh. Larry Rudolph of course said Britney was totally fine and normal and great. Ummm yeah. Larry? You were the producer of the show, had final cut and make your living off her. I doubt you would say anything other than that. Britney said she has seen life on earth at it's hardest. Oh, while she was shaving her head did she head off to Darfur and check out what was going on there? I would venture to guess that Britney couldn't even tell you what continent Darfur is on.
I wonder if it is possible if Britney is taking some kind of medication and they are interfering with her ability to sing and dance at the same time. Everyone I spoke with yesterday who watched that Good Morning America appearance all said she looked lethargic. I would too if you woke me up at 3am, but maybe she is taking medications. I do think though that until she actually goes out somewhere and sings with no backing track at all that anyone will really take her seriously. Right now she isn't any better than a Solid Gold dancer.
She's falling apart again in front of our eyes. How could they go ahead with her tour? Everyone knows she isn't up to the challenge. Do they figure that even if she has to cancel it partway through, they'll still get "good" publicity out of it? At the expense of people who get excited to see her show? I'm scared to see what's about to happen.
ReplyDeleteLithium definitely saps your energy.
p.s. Has Britney EVER sung live without a backing track? If you watch "Crossroads" (yeah, I know), you can see for yourself how weak her voice is.
ReplyDeletei did watch the documentary **blushes** and she is for sure on medication - i noticed when there's a lot of people talking around her making decisions she just zones out with a half smile on her face like she is paying attention. Its quite sad really.
ReplyDeleteShe should take her babies - move to Louisana open a dance studio and live off whatever money she has left - she's in no shape to face the media scrutiny and the paparazzi assaults.
Wasnt there a BI a while back about a singer that couldnt sing? Could that be about Chicken Fried? Maybe thats why she never sings "live"??? Just throwing that out there.
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, her medications are probably making her lethargic. I don't think she's falling apart, but I also don't think it's a great idea to start a tour right now, but taking things slow doesn't seem to be a familiar concept in that household.
ReplyDeleteBritney is a well marketed money making machine....please forgive the alliteration. She sings, she lip syncs, she looks good, can you say digitally remixed ?
ReplyDeleteBrittany is still being used as the cash cow. She is in no shape to tour or do publicity. They should move her home to Louisiana and establish a more normal life for her, but then she couldn't support the parasites in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
ReplyDeleteThat MV blind item from 2 years ago is about her right?
ReplyDeleteThe girl cant sing, but it seems like USA loves her.
Even though she has a weak voice, I don't think Britney is MV. She has a very distinctive voice, so she is clearly doing some of the singing on her records, she just has massive vocal and electronic supplements.
ReplyDeleteHaven't you guys seen this -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cT_QB7tBxyg
ReplyDeleteBritney's fans are people who could care less about the quality of real musicianship. As a celebrity she is fantastic and that's all they're buying into. Right now the only thing she's selling is an image, good, bad, indifferent, no one cares.
ReplyDeleteAt one point it seemed as if Paris Hilton was on her way to becoming a celebrity icon but now her star seems to be fading for a minute.
Of course Britney can't sing and isn't ready for massive publicity and tours but she has to keep making money so that won't stop her from lip synching her way to additional millions of dollars.
I feel sorry for her but I don't because she still has the power to say no.
Look at all of us hard working individuals who don't have the opportunity to make millions so I really don't have time to feel really bad for Britney.
Wait, did you dis Solid Gold dancers? Blasphemy! ;)
ReplyDeleteBritney actually singing live
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjshVxAklwI
This is going to sound mean, but I don't care. I don't understand why anyone gives a shit about Britney. I've always thought she was a talentless piece of trash. I don't know why people are so invested in her. It truly baffles my mind. She needs to disappear.
ReplyDeleteI think her meds are fucking with her ability to perform. I too watched the documentary the other night and you can tell she is zoned.
ReplyDeleteI think she can sing but her voice is not strong enough to sustain a tour w/o lip syncing. I think she also lacks any confidence whatsoever to even attempt to sing live at this time. If you watch old videos from when she was on Star Search, she was a good little singer. Most performers that sing and dance at the same time (involved routines like she does) rarely rely on their voice alone. They at least have backing tracks to fill in. Running around and singing don't work out well. Give it a try. LOL I'm not saying it's right but it is what it is. This is nothing new for Brit.
As many have said online, she doesn't have that spark like she once did when she performs these days. Those meds suck the personality right out of you and it appears that she's not really good at faking the enthusiasm.
Looking at her, it appears that she is back but when she speaks, you know that she's not well enough to be doing this shit. The head shaving comment was pretty fucked up. I'm surprised her manager let that one stay in. I also think it's very telling that when she was asked if she thinks her life is weird that she responded that she doesn't know anything different.
I have a feeling that her finances took a beating when she was on her crazy streak. That might be the big motivation to her "people" pushing her into the album and tour. Sadly, this won't end well.
they also completely forgot to mention a little thing called 5150.
ReplyDeletedon't piss in the wind and tell me it's raining.
UHM don't diss the Solid Gold Dancers, they were the bomb back in the day lol
ReplyDeleteOkay, you know what annoys me about all these people suddenly caring that Britney lip syncs? 1) She has always lip synced. I mean, not on MMC, but as The Britney Spears Machine, she has ALWAYS lip synced. Only now are people caring? That's stupid. 2) Chris Brown lip syncs. He lip synced his entire VMA performance last year. He lip synced at the Grammy's in 2006. No one said a word about it. So. STFU about the lip syncing. If we liked singers who actually SING, then JC Chasez and Keri Hilson would be popular instead of Chris Brown and Rihanna (who, yes, sings live, but she shouldn't because she's bad.)
ReplyDelete"...and Rihanna (who, yes, sings live, but she shouldn't because she's bad.)"
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! She's so overrated. :)
I agree with BlahFrickinBlah, Britney's meds are fucking with her and her confidence has taken a severe beating.
ReplyDeleteAs a little kid on Star Search she could sure belt it out. Not anymore. Low self confidence, drugs, smoking, lack of practice and crazy strenuous dance moves would make it hard to sing.
Why did I bother posting this? I don't even really care about Britney! What IS IT with her?
The avergae IQ of the general population is 100. The average IQ of a Britney Spears fan is 80. I think most of her fans never stopped to think that she lip synchs,
ReplyDeleteIf the choreography is interesting enough to watch, the singing will be synched - for every performer. It's been done since the 70s. No one can do them at the same time. When dancing, ab and butt muscles are pulled in and up. With singing, they're pushed out, like when using the toilet. Sorry, it's the best example I could think of.
ReplyDeleteAt this point I fel very bad for her.
ReplyDeleteI understand her need to keep busy & earn money, but I think this is going to end up to be very overwhelming for her.
She really should be taking it easier at this point.
to me its not a big deal if you lip synch live...if you perform.
ReplyDeleteshe's not doing either!
i can forgive miming if you actually fricken dance, but not because you suck and have no energy to perform.
stay home.
When she first came out my daughter begged her dad to get tickets for Britney Spears. She lip synced her way through the concert we saw. The only trouble I have ever had with this who lip syncing controversy is, if you are on tv, yeah it's ok. But when your fans are asked to fork over a large portion of their savings just for a ticket that will undoubtedly cause a nose bleed from being so close to the rafters, the least you could do is stop with the bad psuedo dancing and freaking sing something live.
ReplyDeleteI hear you. Depends on the number. If there's little or no dancing, then the number needs to be done live. If not, then yeah, the artist needs to stay home. I agree w/ the others who said that Brit's nowhere near well enough for all this.
ReplyDeleteLarry Rudolph is a dolt. I honestly felt revulsion towards him while seeing bits and pieces of that god-awful Rock the Cradle. The way he would tell these no-talents how fabulous they were, particularly Olivia Newton John's daughter. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteRemember that anti-American idol show that purposely picked the worst singer? The one where the audience was told the performers were mentally disabled, or something very similar. Can't remember the name of it. Right now Britney looks like she could have been the winner of that show.

ReplyDeleteScrew Britney.
ReplyDeleteBut can I say how much I lurve Take That? I wish I could buy their stuff on US iTunes. As it is, I can't wait for their new CD from amazon.uk. Those guys are sexy as hell and churn out some great tunes. I thought they rocked their performance on the X-Factor. I saw Britney's whole appearance last week and she's a hollow shell at best. Both Take That and Mariah Carey have performed on that show this season and have all worked with the contestants, given feedback and then performed. Britney just faked a performance. When asked what she thought of the contestants - who just finished singing Britney songs - she was a total deer in the headlights and mumbled some generic response. So sad.
Finally, re: X-Factor I'm team JLS for the win this season! Go boys!
"Can you imagine if on American Idol everyone was allowed to lip synch? What would be the point of the show? It would be to find the best looking person who could pretend they were singing and they would always win."
ReplyDeleteI thought that WAS the concept?
it's not just the lithium, it's the other drugs that go along with it. my kid was never even on lithium, and he says they made him feel kind of numb, but they made him able to live a well adjusted life with no cutting and no self-medication.
ReplyDeleteand yes, she IS too fragile to be in the public eye. this is liable to send her into another manic phase, or worse, downward spiral.
ugh. and i didn't even watch the damn thing.
i love how all you people who use their free time to write bad things about people you don't know in ANY way, shape, or form seem to think you are medical, emotional, mental, musical, production, management, publicity, vocal, wardrobe, make-up, wardrobe, directorial, and/or parenting experts. YOU AREN'T! GET OFF this girl's ass. What her and her team does THEY do because it's THEIR job (s) and HER life and HER career. If you LIKE and want to BUY what they're selling, GO for it. If NOT? SHUT THE FUCK UP, get a LIFE and leave her alone. My God. I'm stunned by her right now and how great she's doing and I keep hearing people screech like nails on a chalkboard over how they think they know so much more than her. It's really a simple, time-tested idea- STOP tearing people down thinking it will build you up. The HIGHEST up there are whp you delusional dumbfucks out there think will be the most fun and helpful to your egos to tear down. Well. Ya DID IT with Britney!!! Look how TRAGICALLY DOWNWARD she fell. The sites, the mags. BAM. But look- she was literally saved from the GUTTER. LOOK AT HER NOW. It's great. Good for her. You still aren't over your ex dumping you four years ago and SHE doesn't deserve ANY credit for reclaiming a place she fell from??? i congratulate her. i don't get why anyone's upset about her lip-snching NOW vs ALWAYS. No one likes her because she's an opera singer, they like her because she's a fucking MAGNET. One SO strong she seems to be able to attract even complete garbage.
ReplyDeleteTry being a kind, decent human being for once. There's a reason most of you are probably fat, single, and online all night long.
Idiots.
Hey Scott! Always nice to hear from new people. I'd like to pull a couple of your quotes:
ReplyDelete1. "i love how all you people who use their free time to write bad things about people you don't know in ANY way, shape, or form ..." and
2. "Try being a kind, decent human being for once. There's a reason most of you are probably fat, single, and online all night long."
Wow. I had NO idea you know us all so very well.
Fuck off and have a nice day!
