  1. As much as I am NOT a Tom Cruise fan, he was pretty hilarious in Tropic Thunder

  3. Where is Nicole Kidman and her giant "Australia" epic?

  4. I am disappointed that there's no Jimmy Smits for Dexter. He's been amazing. and WTF is up with the supporting roles being lumped together, regardless of comedy / drama?!?!?

  5. Bryan Cranston(Breaking Bad)isn't even nominated? He did win the Emmy. That's disappointing.

  6. why on earth has tomr cruise been nominated for tropic thunder? i thought he was only in it for about 5 minutes?

amh.producer, jimmy smit did very good in Dexter. My husband and I never miss a show of Dexter. This week is the season finale.

We also read the books. If you haven't read them I highly recommend them.

  10. I haven't read them so I might check them out. But Jimmy should have completely been nominated. He has taken a character that I thought I knew and flipped it upside down. Well, much like Michael C. Hall does with Dexter! ;-)

  11. Slumdog Millionaire was fantastic!

No love for John Krasinski or Jenna Fischer? Boo...

  12. The Office is one of my favorite shows, but I don't think it should win this time around. It's been sadly disappointing as of late(or mid-fourth season).

Could you imagine the frenzy if Brad and Angie both won in their respective categories?? Damn. I don't know if Jen would be able to stomach that.

I'm dying to see Rachel Getting Married-looks right up my alley.

  13. I don't understand the time frame on the nominations, most of the films haven't been released yet or are on limited screens and the TV nominations are from last season.

I know the film nominations are a precursor to the Oscars, but the TV stuff seems totally irrelevant.

  14. I just think Hollywood is so full of itself.

Probably a pointless comment that leads nowhere, but for some reason whenever I see these lists I just feel sad.

  15. you know as much as i liked his booty shake dance in Tropic Thunder, if I were RDJ i'd be fucking insulted to be in the same catergory as Tom Cruise. supporting actor? it was a cameo!

  17. The Dark Knight should have had WAY more nominations than just Heath's. That screenplay was awesome, for one. No love for superhero movies? Fecking snobs!

  18. Amy you're right - The Dark Knight had a story to tell. Most movies don't.

Cover your eyes people - Anna FUCKING Paquin? They CANNOT be serious. She is the worst thing about True Blood. (Lafayette is the best.)

No Callum Keith Rennie? Lew Ashby! He was AWESOME.

Ent - may we please have some Callum Keith Rennie? I love that guy.

I hope Dexter wins. Such a great show, even if I predicted the outcome with Smits's character.

I will (hopefully) only say this once. Ummm, Tom ... Cruise ... madeTropicThunder. There. I said it. He was the best part in the whole movie. RDJ's character just didn't do it for me. Funny idea on paper, it just didn't translate well onscreen for me.

  19. I second Shakey's comment about RDJ in Tropic Thunder. I didn't find him that funny.

My favorite was actually the cameo at the end.

  20. Kung Fu Panda! Subvert the Disney!

Pale ale - Rachel Getting Married was pretty good. See it if you can. I had to stand in a massive line and elbow a few people out of the way, but it was worth it.
