Your Turn

I have to say that last week everyone gave me lots of great ideas for future Your Turns. We have talked a lot about films and music in the Your Turn segment, but never your all-time favorite television show. You know the one, where if you did not have a way to record it or watch it online. No matter what you would be in front of that television watching that show.

  1. I know I'm going to get hated on for this, but I loved Ally McBeal, and there has been a hole in my life ever since it went off the air.

  2. Growing up, it was "Little House on the Prairie"...I wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder and I was hot for that adopted brother Albert of hers! If I could have reached through the television screen and choked Nellie Olsen I would have been so happy. She was such a bitch!

  3. It's a tie between Veronica Mars and 30 Rock.

  4. I LOVEEEED DYNASTY,
the clothes, the diamonds, the hair, the shoulder pads, AWWWWWWW
    lol
It was then that I decided, that when I grow up I want to be a RICH WHITE WOMAN lololol

  5. I'd have to say Lost - especially when it first started...I actually turned down dates to watch that show...

    ReplyDelete
  6. The Sopranos. I still watch it all the time on DVD.

As a kid, I loved Three's Company. That episode where Jack takes tranquilizers and then gets drunk at a party and starts doing a dance with a plant on his head is classic!

Lost has always been that way for me, and the only other show that I am that obsessed with is Tim and Eric's Awesome Show Great Job, although Whitest Kids U Know, 30 Rock, and The Office are big contenders.

    ReplyDelete
  9. LOST - I've skipped rehearsals, traded shifts at work, been late for birthday parties, you name it, to make sure I didn't miss an episode. I have every season on DVD. I spend a lot of time searchoing for clues, and I am trying to read the books that are referenced in the show. I am obsessed. I can't wait 'til the new season starts!

But when I was a kid, it was The Muppet Show.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Twin Peaks. I scheduled work around it. I still get all worked up every time I think about the last episode, and I'm still pissed at Lynch for making "Fire, Walk With Me" instead of giving me some freakin' resolution!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. The West Wing - I could watch it all day everyday.

    ReplyDelete
  12. And once again, it's a damned good think you post "Your Turn" at the end of the day, 'cause I'm not going to get a bit of work done for the rest of the day. Off to YouTube! (With a quick stop at the VM Season 4 preview, thanks Gamma.)

  13. Way back then - Knots Landing
    90's - Friends, Seinfeld
2000's - Sex in the City, Desperate Housewives, --guilty pleasure I'm afraid to admit, but it's ok because it's a blog - Big Brother

  14. I'll give my all-time top five Ent:

    1- The Office (American)
    2- South Park
    3- The Sopranos

Actually Im going to stop at three because nothing else could compare to the impact that these three shows have had on me.

    ReplyDelete
  15. House & Project Runway
    My 2 guilty pleasures

    ReplyDelete
  16. The shows I don't miss are not necessarily good shows, but are shows that remind me of a good time in my life, generally childhood. 60s and 70s game shows do it, as does Little House and Hogan's Heroes (which is what I have on right now). My all time favorite though-The Carol Burnett Show, hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Will & Grace. I'll watch on DVD's and reruns whenever I can. Fanilow is a favorite episode.

The shows that temporarily stopped the partying back in the day were first Saturday Night Live and then Dallas.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Bewitched, All in The Family, The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, Thirtysomething,

    ReplyDelete
  19. The Simpsons - good or bad - most especially the Treehouse episodes. And Mad Men. I love that show.

Growing up I'd always make sure I was up for Saturday morning cartoons - the original Spiderman I still love to watch - and the original Scooby Doo (not that interloper Scrappy).

For "real" tv we always watched MASH and I still watch it today (love the History Channel).

    ReplyDelete
  20. I loved Fraggle Rock :-)

    ReplyDelete
  21. saturday night live and the office.

    ReplyDelete
  22. X-Files! My house could be on fire and I'd stay to watch. I recently caught an episode; 1st thought was "MYGOD! Duchovny was SO YOUNG!

Still think he's the hottest man there was (marriage and kids will make you look like hell most of the time, as in his case :-(

    ReplyDelete
  23. knots landing back in the day and more currently will & grace.

    ReplyDelete
  24. M*A*S*H

It was the all time best show ever!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm not sure if this counts, because I don't make sure I'm watching when the originals air ...BUT if I find myself in front of an episode of Law & Order, I'm there for the hour.

God help us all if it's a marathon. I've lost probably weeks off my life from L&O marathons...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Friends & SATC-I've seen each episode of these shows at least 30 times. No exaggeration.

The Office and Growing Pains, too. Too bad Michael Seaver went all..religious.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The first few seasons of The Simpsons. There were so many great episodes it's impossible to list them.

    ReplyDelete
  28. OMG almost forgot,
    THE NANNY
    &
THE GOLDEN GIRLS, I can watch them all dayyyy every dayyyyy

    ReplyDelete
  29. 0-7 Mr. Dressup
    8-12 Silver Spoons- The Ricker!
    16-26 BH 90210
    26-31 Sex and the City
    31+ Entourage/ The Hills

My tv evolved as I did.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Comedy - BOSOM BUDDIES

    Drama - HOUSE and LIFE

    GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Quantum Leap!

For mostly the same reason I love Battlestar Galactica -- I have a thing for sci-fi settings and non-sci-fi plots. The human element in QL and BSG makes for an excellent TV Show, but the sci-fi ambiance makes the geek in me happy!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hmmm, can't pick just one, but can limit it to 4: Arrested Development, LOST, Project Runway, Sex and the City.

    ReplyDelete
  33. All the primetime soaps, Dallas, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest and Dynasty.

Also Remington Steele. Major crush on younger Pierce Brosnan.

St. Elsewhere, ER without stunt casting.

    ReplyDelete
  34. OK, I'm really going to age myself:

    "Emergency!"

I had SUCH a crush on Randolph Mantooth (still do) and dreamed up many, many fantasies in which he played my knight in shining ambulance!

    ReplyDelete
  35. 1) A-Team
    2) A-Team
    3) A-Team

we didn't have a VCR, so we woudl tape-record it - just audio. I would memorize entire shows. John Schneider is still hot.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Friends-My husband and I planned our week around it.

MASH-I saw all the first run episodes then watched all the syndicated episodes. At one point in NJ, you could watch MASH five times a day. my mom and I would make tea and watch it every night together at 11pm.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh - present day: Survivor, Amazing Race.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow, Kristin, that's dedication!

All your guesses are making me think of so many other shows that I have watched obsessively, but I don't want to start down that road, so to all the shows I won't list here, I love you too!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous1:46 PM

Soap - our whole family watched together. Lotta laughs, that one.

I had to watch ABC news for Peter Jennings out of London around the late 1970s because I had a massive crush on him. I was 10 in 76, so there ya go. Peter Jennings in his trenchcoat was so dignified and dreamy

All my friends crushed on the Hardy Boys (Shaun Cassidy, Parker Stevenson), but I loved Peter.

My folks were proud I had an interest in world events =)

  40. It's been M*A*S*H for years and years, but Mad Man is now my all-time #1. It's truly art.

Honorable mentions would be 30 Rock, Arrested Development, and Freaks & Geeks.

    ReplyDelete
  41. How could I forget... SIX FEET UNDER!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous1:49 PM

    Way back when -

    Ed Sullivan
    SNL
    Laugh-In

Modern TV doesn't do it for me.

*toddling off to soak my teeth and take my Geritol*

    ReplyDelete
  43. (oh crap, I was attaching John Schneider from Dukes of Hazzard to the A-Team! Well, Dukes was another favorite, just not as favored as the A-Team. Dirk Benedict was my first crush)

    ReplyDelete
  44. The Twilight Zone (Rod Serling)

I now have the complete library of the series from the 50's and 60s. They are amazing.

    Have a great weekend all!

    ReplyDelete
  45. CSI-the original. Gil Grissom's character is one of my all-time favorites on television.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh, I was going to say Friends, but then y'all brought up the Carol Burnett Show-absolutely the BEST!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Your Mom youre not gonna get hate from me I loved Ally McBeal but my show was Melrose Place

    ReplyDelete
  48. grey's anatomy S1 & 2. I swear, no one would dare call me, talk to me, or anything while it was on! and then I'd chat about it afterward!

    ReplyDelete
  49. six feet under
    Arrested Development
    strangers with candy
    30 rock

    ReplyDelete
  50. Gargoyles (Disney cartoon that used to be on and was the sh*t!)

    SATC -in high school/college
    Rome on HBO
Journeyman- before it was unjustly cancelled
    The Office
    Grey's
    Project Runway

(Would have been Arrested Develoment, had I not discovered my love for it through the DVDs)

    ReplyDelete
  51. The Office (US) and South Park I have seen every single episode, but above all others... (can't believe no one has said it yet!)

    BUFFY!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Back in the day - Dallas, then Seinfeld, now LOST and 24.

    ReplyDelete
  53. X-Files.

Pretty sure I've seen every episode.

Current fave, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, a seriously freaky cartoon.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Presently, it's Lost hands down. But back in the day, I couldn't live without Twin Peaks. Cherry pie anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Twin Peaks was a pretty close second to X-F.

I'll take my pie with a good cuppa joe, icywench!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sunday nights...Sopranos. Still mourning. Now I'm digg'in "Big Love". Bill Paxton never looked so sexy. Here in Canada, our cheap networks are like, 20 years behind, so there might be other dark, campy stuff out there that I am unaware of. But hey, we had Mr. Dress-Up.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm gonna reach WAAAAYYY back for this one. I was probably only about 8 when I got absolutely hooked on this show and babbled on to all of my friends when "they" finally kissed, and boy was it some kiss!!!

    Moonlighting

I'm not so much for TV anymore. I get all my viewing pleasure from my computer, but if I do watch TV it's definitely CNN or Headline News.
I used to watch CBS soaps, though, and had my mother tape Y&R and B&B when I had to go to band camp (don't start.) Well, she got hooked on them and so did my grandmother. My mother has since passed on, and I simply don't have the time, but my Meema watches both shows daily almost twenty years later...And BTW- Brooke is still having kids...

    ReplyDelete
  58. As a kiddo: Cosby Show
    Tweener: The Young Riders
from then on...My So Called Life, Dead Like Me and now True Blood

    ReplyDelete
  59. Friday night:
    The Brady Bunch
    The Partridge Family
    The Odd Couple
    Love American Style.
One year my father got circus tickets for Friday, & we didn't want to go.
We used to fight with my mother for the color TV during The Brady Bunch--she watched Sanford and Son,
and was banished to the kitchen TV.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Totally forgot about Six Feet Under - what a fantastic show! And I loved X-Files too, and Twin Peaks, even though it scared the living shit out of me.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Megz, the Buffster was #1 on my backup list, so glad someone finally added it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd

A fabulously funny and touching comedy with the lovely Blair Brown.
    Not even on DVD yet
    :(
I will watch it anywhere - anytime

    ReplyDelete
  63. It is so funny to see what people write when they say "way back"!

    After reading everyone's faves, I remembered a short-lived show I died for

    Wizards & Warriors
    with Jeff Conaway
It was on in the 80's for maybe 6 episodes.
    I had such a crush!

    ReplyDelete
  64. 1. Cheers... from episode 1...(I liked Diane better than Rebecca)

    2. Barney Miller (I had such a crush on Wojo...I was 11 or 12)

    3. Homefront (which created a problem when it was on opposite Cheers... but I loved them both)

    4. Ghost Wisperer... It just makes me happy...

    ReplyDelete
  65. Newsradio, before Phil Hartman died. That show is on my permanent TiVo record list, even though I own all the DVDs.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Magnum PI! (Oh, Tom, you old heartbreaker you...)

    and

    X-Files.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I can't pick just one all-time favorite. Probably for the old shows, I would have picked the Dick Van Dyke Show or I Love Lucy. For recent must-see shows, I would pick House or Scrubs.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Scooby Doo
    Quantum Leap
V the mini-series & "The Final Battle" (luv the lizards)
    Original CSI
    Arrested Development
    30 Rock

    ReplyDelete
  69. I would have to say that it's a toss-up between The Golden Girls and The Cosby Show. I have intensely strong memories of watching both of them as a kid -- Thursday night and Saturday night -- and they're both just comforting to me somehow. And both are still relevant, witty, and I love how all I need to see is ten seconds of the show and I can tell you exactly which episode it is. I own a picture of the actual GG house; someone gave it to me back in college and it's always been one of my most prized possessions. And I grew up with Rudy Huxtable, essentially. Watching her is kinda like reliving my own girlhood, in a way. Maybe that's why she's totally my favorite Cosby kid.

When I'm on my deathbed, I want to have both of these complete series on DVD so I can watch them and fall in love with the television of my childhood and forget all about my cancer or whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  70. When I was a small child:

    Little House
    Carol Burnett
The Muppet Show (and my parents were as excited about it as I was!)
    Wonder Woman

    In my teens:

    Moonlighting
    China Beach
    Thirtysomething

(clearly ABC owned me on Tuesday nights!)

    In my twenties:

    Friends
    ER
Melrose Place (until it got way too ridiculous)

    Now:

Supernatural (I watch other things, but this is the only show I make sure to see live, no matter what)

    ReplyDelete
  71. BOY MEETS WORLD! I moved overseas for 2 seasons and had my friends send me tapes of episodes that I would then watch over and over.

    ReplyDelete
  72. So many...

Degrassi in all its varieties (and I'm not Canadian)

As a kid, Kids, Inc., Family Ties, Facts of Life

    90210 in HS

    Friends in college

Now with TiVo, there are too many

    ReplyDelete
  73. Arrested Development. I didnt even go to my grandma's birthday party once cuz it conflicted.

    ReplyDelete
  74. 30 Rock, because I'm a rude, thoughtless little pig.

    ReplyDelete
  75. CSI vegas. I watch repeats on Spike on the weekends even though I have seen every episode at least three times. And because I had a child when this show was still on air--Full House.

    ReplyDelete
  76. PortlandGirl snagged mine! The Twilight Zone is my alltime favorite (and you have the whole series on DVD? I'm so there! I'll bring beer and I'll buy the pizza!)

I also loved "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" from the 1950's. That was pretty good too.

    ReplyDelete
  77. oh, boy, am i gonna get it for this:

    star trek.

yup. i was a trekkie before it was cool to be a trekkie.
i met mr. bunny because of it. i was president of the high school sci-fi club (IDIC) and we had a club afterward. it was pretty sad.

later, i loved WKRP in cincinnati, i wouldn't go to the hospital to have my son until it was over!

i also loved dead like me, and am so very pissed that there's a third season in the can somewhere and nobody's dared to put it on the air!
and of course now, survivor (since season one!) even in the hospital, i make deals with any room mates so i can watch it, and HOUSE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Mine has got be the wacky Passions! I can't get enough of the craziness on that show. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  79. Well, thank goodness for megz!

    BUFFY, far and away.

(And I love a LOT of TV.)

    But Buffy was magical. Sob.

    ReplyDelete
  80. As a young girl I loved Family Affair there was a clothing store "Family Affair" about 20 minutes from our house and I begged to be allowed to buy something from there (but I come from a large family and money was tight back then and the clothes were very expensive) but I did have my Mrs. Beasley doll that I cherished. As a teenager Dallas, (I admit to buying into the whole dream season because I missed Bobby so much) and now BONES I could watch it over and over again (and do on the weekends my hub is away)

    ReplyDelete
  81. i cannot even tell you how much i miss sex and the city and friends. i could watch the reruns over and over again.

    CHIPS
    Spanish telenovelas (carusel)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Oh...I loved Little House on the Prairie- especially after Almanzo came on the scene- Laura & Nellie's mud fight!! :)

I also LOVED Degrassi in all it's forms...still watch the new ones even though I am in my 30s.

Dallas was the one show I was allowed to stay up late to watch as a kid...although that doesn't say a lot for my parents.

All time favorite though is the original 90210. I can't believe how much I missed Brenda after she left, but I watched the show all the way until the end. I am watching them all again via Netflix and my hubby thinks I"m insane.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Buffy the Vampire slayer- grew up watching it teenage years are vital :D

and Murder she wrote/Nanny/oj simpson trial- watched all with my grandmother.

  87. 1. The first couple of seasons of E.R. (when George Clooney was on it).

    2. I used to love the Saturday marathon of "women in peril" movies on the Lifetime channel.

3.Law and Order (all three of them)
    used to.

    4. Seinfield

    5. All of the 70's shows Nanny and the Professor, Courtship of Eddie's Father, Bewitched, Family Affair, My Three Sons, Brady Bunch, Partridge Family okay you get my drift. I was a kid back then so what else did children do besides watch tv during that time period?

    Now absolutely nothing. TV sucks!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Golden Girls. I know. But I loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Would have to be General Hospital in the late 70's/early 80's

    ReplyDelete
  90. Erm, hello out there! I don't comment very often, but just thinking about this question made me realize what a predictable horror geek I am. I mean, I sort of knew, but looking back the only shows I COULD NOT MISS have been American Gothic, X-Files, Buffy, Angel and Supernatural.

Oh, except for that year when I thought Sliders and Seaquest: DSV were the most awesome shows ever, so I'm a sci-fi geek too. Where do I get my badge??

    ReplyDelete
  91. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

    Nothing comes close.

    ReplyDelete
  92. So many!

Late 60s: Laugh In and The Smothers Brothers

Early 70s: All in the Family and Police Story

Early 80s: The Equalizer & the Australian series Prisoner Cell Block H (my only soap opera!)

I was in school in the 90s (got a late start) and didn't watch much TV other than kid shows with my daughter.

Now: I'm a Survivor junkie. Otherwise its all history channel and true crime shows.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Oh yeah, true crime. Cannot tear myself away from the TV when the First 48 comes on A&E.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I"m surprised no one has mentioned the Love Boat, LOL. I loved that show along with Knots landing !!!
Then in the 90's definitely Melrose (would never miss it), loved SATC and later on King of Queens (one of my all time faves)...
General Hospital during the Brenda/Sonny/Jax era...omg I was addicted. This is so hard to pick one!! Nothing really grabs me now.

    ReplyDelete
  95. OMG! Prisoner Cell Block H! How could I forget the best Australian Womens Prison soap opera. I was sooo hooked on that. Gotta check Netflix.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Oh, Lordy I forgot the Monkees (loved Mike Nesmith), and I was a Trekkie too....

    ReplyDelete
  99. Back in the day, for me it was Dynasty.
We used to have Dynasty parties for the season premieres, and God help anyone who interrupted those Wednesday nights.
My mother's shows were "Days Of Our Lives", "The Doctors" and "General Hospital"... on road trips, we absolutely *had* to be in a hotel room when those shows came on or there was hell to pay after my mother got off the phone with her sister long distance to find out what happened.

    ReplyDelete
  100. atp -

  102. As a kid:
    Saved by the Bell

    As a teen:
    Friends

    Now:
Friday Night Lights. I can't tell you how addicted I am to that show. I was even late for Thanksgiving Dinner trying to watch it online.

    ReplyDelete
  106. M*A*S*H hands down best show on tv ever.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Randomly:

The Banana Splits Show (which is now on Retro Teletoons)
    Homicide, Life on the Streets
    X-Files for sure
Twin Peaks (I did like Fire, Walk With Me)
    Coronation Street
Monty Python's Flying Circus (first thing I ever saw on colour television was the Sam Peckinpah skit - "I say, anyone for tennis?")
    Dream On

    ReplyDelete
  108. Hey Ms. If you ever see the "American Dream" episode of First 48, the first guy arrested Calvin Nelson (not the shooter) is my client. Confession may be good for the soul, but it sure screws up your court case.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars

    ReplyDelete
