Daniel Craig As Thor?

Daniel Craig was in LA yesterday doing some press for Quantum Of Solace. Yeah, yeah, well you could have come out here and staked out the press conference. They are always at The Four Seasons. They have a monopoly on them. There is usually a press conference there every day during the week. Anyway, while Daniel Craig was there making people swoon. Do people still swoon? Where did that come from anyway? Sounds like some kind of 50's Oscar telecast. Anyway, during the press conference, the subject of the film Thor came up.

Apparently, Marvel comics wanted Daniel Craig for Thor. He was their first choice. I know all of you love Daniel Craig, and he may in fact be the best Bond, but honestly do you see him with the long hair and the hammer? If you do, you probably also have a Daniel Craig poster hanging on your bedroom wall and also own a bottle of Bond: The Cologne. Yeah, go ahead and look, I don't think such a product exists. If it did, I wonder if it would outsell that Jessica Simpson one where she uses her dog. I understand celebrity endorsements and am a fan of them. I don't necessarily agree though that people will buy something because it has a celebrity name on it such as the perfume. If it smells like crap, it doesn't matter who is endorsing it, because it isn't going to sell. Now, if the Bond:The Cologne came with some photo of Daniel Craig in the buff, then I guess most of you wouldn't care what the hell it smells like. So, there is that trick.

  2. I imagine Bond: The Cologne would smell a lot like Creed's Green Irish Tweed.

Avon has a "Bond Girl" perfume.

  4. Gerry Butler has already done a long-haired, sword-weilding role, so I KNOW he'd be hawt as hell as Thor. Just sayin.

Brit Pitt would make a good Thor.

  6. I don't quite see it, but who would've thought Vincent D'Onofrio would be as awesome as he was in "Adventures of Babysitting?"

Mooshki, do you remember the movie "Midnight Madness"?

On another note, how is Daniel Craig any different than Kevin McKidd?? Maybe it's because they are both my favorite actors of all time, but I see them being very similar. I believe Kevin McKidd is Thor. Am I right?

  9. Mooshki,

Are you saying Pvt. Pyle was Thor from Adventures in Babysitting?!?! I did not know that!

  10. Ah, Vincent D'Onofrio. I loved him in "Adventures in Babysitting" and I'd be happy to see him reprise the role in an epic film if a trainer could make him buff.

More realistically, I think I'd go with Viggo or Brad for the role.

  11. I didn't see "Midnight Madness" - don't know why I missed that one.

Hard to believe, isn't it Pirate?

Sarah, I don't want McKidd to be "Thor" - he's supposed to be rescuing "Grey's Anatomy" from its current shithole!!!

  12. Kevin McKidd would be good as Thor, as well as Karl Urban.

Wow... I never knew that it was D'Onofrio who was Thor in Adventures in Babysitting.... he was so girlishly pretty, like Mariel Hemingway.

I think that Daniel Craig might be a little too old for Thor.

  15. They don't call him the "Human Chameleon" for nothing! :)

  16. Holy smokes. A bottle of Daniel would suit me just fine. I was swooning when I read that until I read further and it said that you didn't think it existed. Dang. To tell you the truth, I didn't think I could see Daniel Craig as James Bond until I saw the movie and was blown away, and swooning, from the moment it started. So, hell yes, I can see him as Thor. And yes, I could see that poster in my bedroom. Unless my husband objects.

  17. Didn't even read the piece, but Daniel Craig can be whomever the hell WANTS to be as far as I'm concerned.

    HOT as hell.

  18. Dude, no....just no.

Thor is a big, muscular, bearded God of Thunder - none of which is D.C. D.C. could be Putin in a biography, sure. But not Thor - no way, no how.

Castin' directors be smokin'....they need to cut that shit out durrin' workin' hours. ;-)

  19. Yes, Daniel Craig could be a great Putin! Not THOR!

On that same bio-pic note, I've often thought that Kevin Coster + 20lbs = Garth Brooks.

  20. ROTFL. Sorry, but Daniel Craig wasn't Marvel's first choice. Brad Pitt was. They approached him at the end of LAST YEAR about it and were turned down. They approached him about both Thor AND Captain America. Tons of the movie sites (Cinematical, Slashfilms, Hollywood Elsewhere as well as the comics related sites) had stories on it way back in January and February of this year.
