Lily Allen & Elton John

So, all morning I have been hearing about Elton John and Lily Allen getting into a fight at the GQ Awards yesterday in London, and had read the words, but hadn't seen the fight until now. I'm sure it is available in other places, but I kind of like the idea of a foreign language news broadcast which stops talking long enough for us to see Lily Allen drink, and to catch all the good stuff between the couple. After watching it a few times, I get the feeling that they dislike each other, but if someone told me it was staged I would probably believe you also.

They seem so stiff and awkward while delivering the lines that it could almost be something that was written for them. Anyway, take a look and see if you think the anger was real or manufactured.

  1. Look at the body language. Talk about hostility. Elton has his back turned to her almost the entire time. That was not manufactured.

  2. Both. It was scripted, but he honestly hates her.

  3. I Agree. Enty it's clearly not manufactured.

She's drunk - Elton tried to be smart and she totally shut him up with the 'F*ck off - I'm 40 yrs younger than you, I have my whole life ahead of me'!

    Tee hee hee

  4. I thought it was scripted until the person in green comes up to get her award, and Lily bugs he about some diamond. She tells Lily to "shut up" and it's clearly not staged.

  5. As I find her a worthless twat, I won't watch but I'm guessing Elton hates her. I can't blame him.

  6. the most interesting thing is....elton looks under the influence of something?

  7. i think the elton-lily part is definitely written that way. he's a hot head. if she was really rude, he would have ripped her head off.

  11. I think Lily Allen showed a complete disrespect for the leaders in her field. She will never ever ever have the success that Elton John or Tony Bennett has had. Instead of thinking that her little bit of fame is so great, she should recognize and respect those who came before her. She clearly does not understand her place.

  12. I love Lily! I love her music! I think she rocks and takes crap from no one!

Lily does not care about fame or even money. She just wants to have fun.

As far as staged goes, who knows. To me it looks like Elton was trying to give her a little bit of a lecture in front of millions of people and she told him to shut the f up...good for her...he's not her father...they are presenting an award...like he has any room to talk!

  13. The "F" word is never scripted. That was a clearly drunk Lily and a very angry Elton, not to mention the poor woman who had to fight her off up at the podium.

Lily will not be invited back to this award show!

  14. Totally scripted.
Watching it without sound it's even more evident.

  15. Its staged, HOWEVER Lily Allen WISHES she had a long standing career like Elton. Elton is an ICON in his field and one of the few artists of his generation still selling sold out concerts and cd's.

She is known more for her antics than her music/voice. In 5 years we will be saying, whatever happened to that Lily girl?

  17. hmmm..it might have started out scripted...but I think Ms Lily is too unreliable to stay on track -I dont think Elton was under the influence of anything except great restraint...I think it was all he could do to NOT whack her off the stage...what a little no-talent(IMHO)twat...she obviously believes bad publicity is better than no publicity....besides her quote concerning the GREAT Tony Bennett....shows NO class.... she's an a-hole...any bets on how soon she's a whodat???

  18. The chick in green is Jaime Winstone, she just got secretly engaged to Alfie Allen, Lily's bro...not so secret anymore however....;)

  19. agree that "fuck" is not scripted, neither is drinking at the podium.
i dunno who she is, either, but i hope she never gets invited to another one of these things again. i'm sure sir elton has enough pull to ensure that.

  20. I don't think it's scripted. Elton's body language is quite telling. He is keeping his back to her. This does not seem like friendly banter.

Moreover, Jamie Winstone told her to shut up. So it would seem that Lily is acting on her own accord.

  21. I'm with Mooshki. I think that the "fuck off" part wasn't scripted but the cute little banter was. And Elton does hate her, it's obvious. Just like the Olivia Newton John song says, He hates her, he honestly hates her.

  22. I think Elton thinks she's an idiot with a drinking problem, but let her make an ass out of herself. If Elton was genuinely pissed at her, he would have taken her apart. Truly he can be one nasty bitch if he is angry at someone. He doesn't hold back, ever.

So I say staged and he loved that she helped him by being so deerunk.Again.

  23. I'd wager heavily staged, but Elton is obviously in Diva mode too. I love Lily and all but I find it a bad show to be drunk during hosting duties. Unless you're paid to drink on stage, keep it for your dressing room after the gig.

  24. I believe it's staged.

  25. Can't decide if it's staged or not...I agree that maybe some of it was, and then they just went at it...

Don't care...love Lily Allen, her new (unreleased but out on the net) song "Fuck You Very Much" is a brilliant indictment of the Bush administration. Love it!!!

  26. after watching this I think it's no big deal... it looks scripted despite the f bomb being thrown around but, hey, it's Lily Allen, not surprising. I like that Lily, in her way, pointed out that Elton belongs to another generation (whatever her intent)-but I'm not an EJ fan even if he is an "icon". I hope she gets out of self-destructive mode soon and proves all the naysayers wrong.

  27. YOU GUYS....
Saying the "f" word as well as elton saying " i could still snort you under the table" was so NOT scripted! you cannot say that on awards shows! i think elton ad libbed that, as well as a bit of the lecture.... her fuck off could have been ad libbed, maybe it was supposed to be a quaint little repartee and ended up being a contest of who is the queen bitch on stage?
regardless... all you people rooting for allen are dumb. elton has bitch heirarchy here. i mean, common, if he can fight with madonna, he can certainly throw a verbal adomonishment slap at lily allen. but to play devils advocate ( because i am that scitzophrenic) will admit that her tart comments she fired back with were fun, that chick is nobodys doormate, thats fo sho.

Totally planned, but I'm pretty sure he meant most of what he said, lol.

  29. I think Lily's going for shock value, and elton's kinda just riding along with that. She's making fun of herself, using the fact that everyone knows she has serious drug and alcohol problems to act like.... well, probably just like herself. She strikes me as the type of girl who would rather prove to her junkie friends that she's just THAT cool that she doesn't have to act like a goody-two-shoes on t.v to be famous or popular.

Unfortunately for her, as much as i applaud any celebrity just being themselves in public, i think she made a total mockery of the awards show she was invited to, and of the other guests as well.

I doubt the bitchy comments were scripted. They were most likely encouraged by the show's producers to ad-lib a bit or squabble as stuff like that gets ratings.
