NY Daily News Blind Items

Which two perky Olympian teammates are really bitter rivals? One spiked the other's protein shake with laxatives before a big competition, but her plan backfired when her nemesis not only powered through the competition but beat her so-called friend anyway.

  1. There's something sly about Nastia Liukin- I reckon it's her and Shawn Johnson. Don't be fooled by the baby face!

  2. That's what I was thinking, Nastia and Shawn.

    ReplyDelete
  3. The "spiked" wording sounds like the beach volleyball chicks.

Maybe too easy, though, and "perky" could definitely mean Shawn Johnson.

Shawn DID have a bad headache and stomach upset before the beam competition, according to her and her coach.

Nastia Liukin is a bit frosty, no doubt, but being the victim of some seriously questionable judging could do that to a competitor...

  4. WHAT A BITCH....SO MUCH FOR FAIR PLAY

  5. I would never use the word perky to describe Nastia. She always has a sour look on her face.

Can't be volleyball because it's got to be something one-on-one, like swimming, gymnastics, diving, etc.

  6. spike is a volleyball term, but i refuse to believe it's kerri welsh and misty may.

nastia, which i think may be russian for nasty (kidding) is a real bitch face. i can see her doing that to shawn johnson.

  7. Gotta be Nastia & Shawn. They are roommates, so it would be relatively easy for one to slip something into the other's food.

Also, here's the link to the article discussing Shawn Johnson's gold medal performance notwithstanding a headache and upset stomach.

Plus, aren't the Rooskie's known for poisoning their enemies? ;)

  8. it describes both teammates as perky. nastia is not perky.

    ReplyDelete
  9. in general, perky is a term used for female gymnasts. elegant is a term used for swimmers and skaters.

  10. Shawn and Nastia

Wow i really thought they like each other.... i guess i was wrong!

When the showed Nastia's father when they were on the podium, and shawn got the gold. He was crying and probably thinging..."Shit" (no pun intended).

  11. BWAHHHH!!!! Emma lmao!! You got that right!!!!!!

  12. I'm not a gymnastics fan and haven't been watching them, but Sports Illustrated and several other publications have mentioned that Shawn and Nastis (sp.) aren't the best of friends. Shawn did get points for being nice when N. won a gold medal, but I don't remember N. being nice when S. got her gold. It does sound like these two, but I would hope they didn't go as far as the BI suggests.

No way would Misty and Kerry behave this way.

    ReplyDelete
  13. reese, i didn't read that but it makes sense. i remember shawn going up to hug nastia after she won and nasty looked at her like 'if you're going to be up here (on the mat), i'm leaving'. then when shawn came down from the mat, nasty stayed there.

anyways i purposely watched to see what nasty would do when shawn won. nothing. i don't remember her approaching her and hugging her the way shawn did when she won.

one of the announcers said of two girls that they weren't the best of friends when i first started watching but i don't remember if it was shawn and nastia. did anyone else hear that?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah, doubt it's volleyball, cuz why would you sabotage your own teammate if you want to win a team game?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I thought Nastia & Shawn, but Shawn for the spiker. I also don't think happened at the Olympics but at another meet.

    ReplyDelete
  16. During the Team finals, you should have seen the blank-eyed death stare Nasty gave one of her teammates (can't remember if it was Shawn), and Tim Daggett said "Look at Nastia!!!". Anyways, the entire coverage of Nasty during the Olympics has been nothing but how driven she is, and nothing short of Gold will suffice for her and her father. I could see them pulling a Gillooly.

    ReplyDelete
  17. well they did both say they weren't competing for a silver medal....

    ReplyDelete
  18. its def the gymnastic oompa loompas.
they are all vying to be americas "sweetheart"... give me a break.
vball is out, they compete with each other & are older/more mature.
one gets no where w/o the other.

    ReplyDelete
  19. There is no way Misty and Kerry would do this at the point they were going for the GOLD. They need each other to much for this, they are a team. If they don't have each other, than they don't WIN.

It's not like they are going against each other.

Now Shawn and Nastia well they speak for themselves. Just watching them at the start of the games was enough to know there was no love lost between them. Nastia and another girl gave a camara guy a Nasty look when he asked her to move aside. He wanted to get a better picture of Shawn.

Who was the girl that fell off the balance bar and then screwed up again on the American team. She looked like she wasn't feeling to good. Although if I screwed up that much I wouldn't feel all that great. I felt so sorry for her, when she did do good they screwed her out of the bronze when they gave it to the girl from China.

There is so much money at stake with these people. Millions of dollars in endorsements, at least Tonya Harding wasn't there in the stands was she?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nastia most definitely skipped out on the "good sportsmanship" training session. She's hurting herself far worse than anyone else - she's a miserably unhappy person except for a few minutes following a win. Actually, it's probably more surprising what good sports so many of these athletes have been. (I love you, Dara!)

    ReplyDelete
  21. even tho they were mentioned, so far nobody has said it was anyone in volleyball. yet people keep posting it can't be anyone in volleyball. yup we know.

    ReplyDelete
  22. what about swimmers Coughlin and Hoff? Hoff was supposed to be awesome and didn't perform as expected. Maybe she effed Coughlin up! ;-)

And I am just saying that because I can't let go of which two PERKY Olympian teammates and Nastia being considered perky. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think its Nastia and Shawn. Even before this item I would always notice that Nastia had bitch-face. And instead of looking like she really liked Shawn, she would just kind of smile politely and hug. Nothing too emotional. Other gymnastics teams in the past seem truly enthusiastic about other teammate's wins. Not Nastia.

    It's definitely them.

  24. http://tinyurl.com/6xlsvw

The NYT had a large article about N. before the Olympics, and how she and her family take the word "driven" to new heights. The article focused on the many endorsements she has secured and how much money she's making.

In one of the papers today (I read several so I'm not sure which one it was) there was an article about how one of the underaged Chinese kids (with baby teeth and body weight under 70 lbs.) fell flat on her face but still got the bronze medal ahead of an American girl. It was suggested that attractiveness has been trumping talent in the scoring and that Shawn's scores have been weak "because the judges don't like gymnasts who look like fire plugs."

    Ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't believe this happen at the Olympic games. This was done in another competition. The problem is why wasn't this person ejected from the sport if she did this? I mean somebody had to know of this happening.

I really think it was that girl that screwed up so much. She looked really uncomfortable during the whole games. Was she the one that spiked the drink? The people on the team kind of stayed away from her. I noticed she sat alone a lot of the times.

    ReplyDelete
  26. detroitrocker if you dont think this was done at the olympics why would you think it was the girl who screwed up at the olympics?

    ReplyDelete
  27. eww! Laxatives??!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. i wonder if she used the old fashion chocolate laxatives?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love Jon Stewart so much. He said the reason we all think the Chinese gymnasts are underage is because our idea of what a 16-year-old should look like comes from the cast of Gossip Girl. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. ok no one gave laxatives to alicia sacramone (the girl who fell twice in gymnastics) they were going for the team gold. they lost bc of her. no one on the team would have sabatoged each other, they were working together for a team gold.

dont think it's nastia and shawn. shawn is the only "perky" gymnast. and i dont think nastia's a bitch, she just has a different gameface than shawn. not everyone can be smiling and peppy while trying to win an olympic gold. athletes prepare differently. plus nastia won the big gold, the all around. the event finals were just icing on the cake, i doubt she wanted to sabatoge shawn for the beam medal.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Katie
I agree that everyone has a different gameface but the point is, when Nastja won, Shawn seemed genuinely happy for her. She was just happy to have the silver. But when Shawn beat her on the beam, Nastja looked like she was going to explode. She had the nastiest face on and didn't even try to hide it. I didn't see her giving Sean a hug or evey speaking to.

This blind is definitely talking about them because in every interview they keep stressing how they're roommates and friends, hene the "so-called friends" refrence.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think this is Nastia and Shawn because Shawn and her coach were discussing how she didn't feel like herself before the balance beam competition and she said something about having an upset stomach. Shawn also kept mentioning that they were great "friends" and Nastia said the same thing when they asked about her reaction to Shawn getting the gold. I also noticed that Nastia seemed to ignore Shawn a lot but she wasn't at all that way with Alicia during the team competition.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This is a fake blind -- much like a "glass in the toeshoe" for dancers.

    ReplyDelete
  34. grace, i'd think it was fake but enty didn't make it up. all of his are fake. fortunately he copies 99% of his scoops from other sites and this one was copied. i believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. lol, mooshki, you laugh because it's true. we all know it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. ok Molly since you're so bright why don't you prove to us how its NOT true?

    makes as much sense.

    ReplyDelete
  37. jax, grace said it wasn't true, not me.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nastia's dad looks kinda like Christian Slater, which made me double-take every time he was shown hanging around.

    ReplyDelete
  39. If ALL of Enty's blinds are FAKE, then WHY DO YOU COME HERE, MOLLY? There are PLENTY of OTHER gossip sites that are just compilations of blinds found all over the internet. Most of us come to CDAN because we TRUST THE VERITY of the BLINDS. That's what makes it fun to TRY AND GUESS THE ANSWERS. Because what would be the point OTHERWISE?

Your saying shit and then promptly blaming it on other people the SECOND someone points out how erroneously WRONG you are is so, so tiresome.

Jesus FUCKTARD. Do you EVER have anything interesting to add to ANY post?!

    ReplyDelete
  40. any of you ever competed in sports? it gets nasty.
i haven't been watching, but reading the blind, i totally thought gymnastics. i once beat out two of my closest friends. one was totally cool with it, the other cried for hours. and then was mad for days.
i've seen some serious bad shit, and i was NEVER near this level. gymnastics is NOT a team sport, no matter what you want to believe. neither is swimming. volleyball, basketball, the things where everybody gets a medal, those are team sports.
damn, i'm lecturing again. just wait until the winter olympics!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ernestine, shut the fuck up already. You don't like certain people here and it shows. Fuck off, you're ruining the forum by acting like a stalker.

By the way, before you get on my shit, I've been posting here as Anon for almost a year, so don't start any of your bullshit that I'm trying to hide my name. This is my name. Got it hall monitor?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous9:23 PM

Ernestine - I totally agree with you! Why would you come here so often if you really think it is all fake? I happen to think that ENT is one of the most reliable, down to earth sources for celebrity information. YES, it is gossip, therefore it can't all be true. However, ENT is a hell of a lot more trustworthy than what their publicists throw up at us.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous9:30 PM

and anon... we all know you've been here for awhile. We get it... you're so secretive. But obviously you do have some issues with trust, because you can't even post an age or picture that would show your fellow posters a hint to your personality. You've been here forever! I'm not asking for your damn social security number, but something would work. You're like that girl in middle school that watches everybody else have fun and can never really participate because you were just TOO COOL. How clever of you.
And you are always so elegant with your witty observations. Thanks for the input doll.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hahahha, you guys are funny. Ent should post the last 8 or so comments on his blog, under

    'WHY SO SERIOUS?!'

Anyway, I don't think this blind is true. I just don't see how this info would get out. Our USA team is housed together in an 18 story Univ. dormitory. 400 athletes together. Assuming this happened in Beijing. Also, the gymnastics teams doesn't stay together. They segregate themselves based on their coaches (some times article I read a week ago). Shawn's coach is a Chinese dude who only trains her and Luikin is trained by both her parents. The only time they come together is to train at the US TEAM center in Iowa, which is for team competitions.

This blind is garbage. Too broad, too many holes. No need to get upset over it.

    Unbunch your panties, people.

    ReplyDelete
  45. oh, unbelievers.

remind me to tell you about the time my team mates and i ran rampant around a hotel in north carolina (charlotte? boone? looooong time ago) and the young ones got booze, and the pros (coaches) were all across the street having a friendly drink. and _I_ was the only one who got dragged by her collar.

even at the olympics, shit happens, pun intended. i believe this 100%. child's play. does no one remember tonya harding? get real.
now, enty, don't make me look like an asshole, be sure you reveal this one.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Getting banned from a collegiate competition is one thing. Getting perma-banned from the olympics is entirely another. And one that I don't think any athlete who spends four years training for a handful of events would be stupid enough to attempt.

Local stuff, sure. College? you bet. World cups? why not? Olympics? There go your endorsements...

Remember, all US olympians are governed by the
USNGB in conjunction with the USOC. Mess around and you will very quickly never be able to compete again. And there's no such things as Professional Gymnastics to bump up to. =)

  47. Hey there, Anon. You hardly ever post, and when you do, it's usually pretty banal and uninteresting, so I'd probably define you more as a "lurker," if anything. And you're welcome to call me a stalker. I'm not sitting in anyone's driveway with a pair of binoculars. It's the fucking INTERNET.

Some people happen to like what I post, and I truly don't give a stinky, steaming flying shit about what you or a select group of other people might think about my opinions or the manner in which I express them.

You can kiss my ass AND lick my balls, "Anon." At least I've got a pair.

these comments are hilarious. thanks everyone for giving me a good laugh today at work!

  49. It was Sacramone who was the spiker. I read an article (can't remember which publication) that stated she was beyond furious when Shawn Johnson took the gold in the floor exercise final at last year's world championship. Apparently the "look" she gave Miss Johnson was the equivalent of my high school clique's Look of Death (LOD).

  50. Did you read the article where Nellie Kim , who was in charge of womans's gymnastics in 2008 talks about how she, Nastia's father , Bela and Marta all vacation together and are friends outside of gymnastics? Yeah, that Olympics was fixed for Nastia.
