Because It Sucks
Tom Cruise doesn't understand why people are being critical of the film Valkyrie. "It (the criticism) just doesn't make sense to me. The moment I read the screenplay I knew it was an important story, and as it's a true tale of heroic resistance to one of the great villains of history, I can't imagine that people won't want to see it."
Hey, just because it is an important story doesn't mean that people will want to see it. I think people don't want to see it because it sucks balls, not because the story isn't any good. Maybe the don't buy you as Nazi. I know, I know. If anyone can pull it off you can. Hell, all you had to do was go into your little time machine thingy and go back and talk to some real Nazis. Another strong possibility is they don't really like you very much Tom. I know, I know. Again, it seems odd considering all the good will your spread to the people of the world and how we are either with you or against you.
You did bring Eddie Izzard into the film which is cool so I will definitely have someone chop it up for me so I can see his scenes. I don't think he is in enough stuff. I know you used to be the thing, but those days are long gone. Your movies cost way too much and with the exception of the Mission Impossible series, and War Of The Worlds, it has been a long time since you had a hit film. You don't get to count Tropic Thunder for your column. When I think of Tom Cruise films I think of epic disasters that had a whole lot of hype, and were just awful. I bet if I went back and looked at your quotes about Lion for Lambs you would have said the same thing. Did real well didn't it?

dude has fallen hard. i just hope that will smith's people appeal for him to shut his mouth up about the cult of scientology. or he will suffer the same fate in about five years.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree quintessential. This guy has just fallen off in terms of good movies. I don't think it all has to do with Scientology though. Lots of people view his relationship with Katie Holmes as odd and I know that garnered him some bad press. Hopefully he saved his money or invested wisely because he is definetly on a downward spiral in terms of earning money for movies.
ReplyDeleteno one wants to look at his face. no one buys the good guy family man "image". he's a turn off.
ReplyDeleteHe is one of these people who just needs to go and be a good stay at home dad while his wife's Broadway carreer takes off...........
ReplyDelete(snort-chuckle chuckle)
if he doesn't get it he needs a new pr person.
ReplyDeletegood idea, moosefan. i'm sure his money is saved and invested.
ReplyDeleteprobably invested in scientolocrap.
ReplyDeleteGuys like him with a big ego since that is all he has will never get it.
ReplyDeleteLiam Neeson you ain't, Tommy Grrrrl.
ReplyDeleteIt's not going to get better for TommyGirl anytime soon. Look for anonymous to be even more aggressive in their anti co$ movement. That creepy religion will be the end of Tom's career and it looks like Will's too.
ReplyDeleteJada and Katie were always going to be C list, if that anyway, so it doesn't matter about them. Interest in them is just tied to watching Tom come out and play husband. I wonder if Katie realizes how ridiculous her life is or if she is in a bubble?
I have faith in Bryan Singer (chickenhawk that he is) that there will be something interesting about Valkyrie. I think Tom just needs to go on an extended vacation with Sea Org, let Katie do her play, come back in 5 years and do a couple supporting roles (ala Tropic Thunder, Magnolia, etc.).
ReplyDeleteI despise Tom Cruise and his cult, but I willingly admit that I've enjoyed most of the movies he's been in over the years.
ReplyDeleteI think the issue really is that Tom Cruise -- his personality, his religion, his marriage -- has become a complete turn-off. He needed to shut the hell up after he bounced on Oprah's couch and called Matt Lauer glib. But he didn't. Nobody, not even mom (and that's saying something), thinks his marriage to KatE is 100% kosher. He's become a complete tabloid laughing stock. He's starting to make Mel Gibson look sane.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he needs to getting into producing films and not starring in them. Or act in a few indie films for cost. He got an Oscar nom and a lot of goodwill from Magnolia, you know. But nobody wants to plunk down $12 to see an aging superstar in another overblown action film like Mission Impossible IV or in a self-righteous bio pic like Valkerie. Please. Do the math.
I also think he needs to take some cues from George Clooney about aging gracefully and having a sense of humor. Even John Travolta, who has suffered from the same gay rumors and scientology taint as Cruise, has managed to weather his career downturns by at least seeming to be a good guy (his treatment of his autistic son, notwithstanding). Tom Cruise, in contrast, comes across like the creepy narcissistic bitch I think he really is.
wait...
ReplyDeletewhat?
"Even John Travolta, at least seeming to be a good guy (his treatment of his autistic son, notwithstanding).
Jett? I thought that was because of the carpet cleaner?
But, how does he treat him?
What about Travolta's son and carpet cleaner? I thought that it was just how Jett (the son) has a form of Austism or Augsbergers. Haven't heard anything about any treatments that they are trying to use ti break him out of that guarded shell he is in, to where he will feel comfortable interacting with others.

ReplyDeleteI don't know what the carpet cleaner thing the other Clairfraser is referring to either. In my comment, I was just alluding to rumors and allegations that the Travoltas have let their son's disability go untreated. Of course, Travolta has never publicly acknowledged that his son Jett, has any form of a disability, be it Autism or whatever. The only evidence is that Jett is rarely photographed with the rest of his family unlike their other child (whose name is escaping me), which is mysterious to say the least. I suppose privacy is their right as a family, but why not acknowledge it and move on? Disabled kids, Autistic or otherwise, are nothing to be ashamed about. See Jenny McCarthy, Holly Peete, etc. I mean what exactly are they hiding? This coupled with the fact that Scientology is fiercely anti-psychiatry/psychotherapy just makes the whole situation creepy and sad.
Just my two cents.
The Travolta's believe that their son suffered an severe allergic reaction to having their carpets cleaned. Seriously. They are Scientologists and don't believe in autism.
ReplyDeleteyes, but what about EDDIE IZZARD?? you know, EDDIE?
ReplyDeleteoh, enty, tell me more. tommy girl and revolta are raving assholes, but i always brake for my EDDIE!
tell me, does he have a GLORIOUS roll with FABULOUS makeup??
meh, i doubt it. i've been a fan way too long. and i can never catch a tour. he's just so yummy. eddie, i mean.
Bionic- Do yourself a favor and see Eddie live. He's amazing even if on his stripped tour he's stripped of all fabulous make-up :( so very very sad.
ReplyDeleteI did get an accidental boob graze as he passed in front of me...wooot.
