Awww man, the Earth didn't move for me.
Wait a second! HUGE is a slight exaggeration. It wasn't THAT big. Come on Enty, man up!
wow - hope everyone out there is okay.
How's your parents basement????
Holy crap! Just got the CNN alert. I'm glad you're okay! 5.8 may not be catastrophic, but it's pretty darned big! (My biggest experience was around a 4.)
I didn't feel anything and my secretary usually tells me how big they are.
Oh crap, she already left for lunch. I'll have to check for myself.
If you've never lived through a SoCal earthquake, you won't understand when we look at each other when the floor is shaking, windows rattling, and say "That was a good one!"
I guess Enty just gets dizzy.
Okay, so the USGS officially says that's "moderate."
Looks like it was centered near Pomona. Lots of aftershocks.

We're in Yorba Linda...broken pictures and dishes
I'm in Orange County, CA - we really felt it. It was a shaker as opposed to a roller (the rolling quakes are more fun). The thing about this one is it lasted for awhile - 30 seconds or thereabouts. That's pretty long for a quake.
Thora... since you're pretty close to the epicenter, I'm glad it wasn't worse than that. I'm in Newport Beach and it just shook alot. Not much else.
Im in san diego and we felt 3 tinier ones. Hope everyone isok!
I'm about 5 miles from the epicenter and we lost almost everything from our bathroom and bathroom shelves.
I hate this. lived here my whole life and still not used to it. I need another cigarette.
meant "bedroom & bathroom"
never felt one in my life. Not sure I care to...
Sure hope everyone is ok
ITA, Lil, the rollers are cool. Shakers and hard rattlers, not so much.
Major networks have preempted the soaps, so I guess it was a big one. Local news sez it was felt in San Diego and even out to Las Vegas.
Jax - did you guys feel anything?
Can we be guaranteed that Ben Affleck didn't have something to do with this?
But seriously - hope everyone's OK!
"Can we be guaranteed that Ben Affleck didn't have something to do with this?"
Brilliant.
LOL, califblondy. the building I work in has rollers too and everyone said "That was a good one!" when it was over.
Actually, more accurately, people were saying, "This is a good one!" because it was so freakin' long.
To nickkie, thora, and all those close to the center, glad you're OK, hope damage was minimal.
I'm work downtown L.A. and the people that are not from California are FREAKING out. It is hilarious.
***going to hell
Ben!!!! He always manages these types of shenanigans! I wouldn't put it past him.
Thanks, mooshki. I like to believe I'm brilliant, and it's always nice to have that reinforced.
nothing JLB. you?
I live in San Diego and a lot of my co-workers felt it. I never feel them though, I must be de-sensitized or something.
Lame.
Y'all need to move to Northern Cal, but of course we feel the bay area quakes, so never mind.
I can't get through to someone in the area on the phones. There's a tape saying "Due to the earthquake..." That was fast.
I am IN chino hills... that was cool. Everyone here at work was screaming and running around..
ENT, exaggerate much?
It wasn't that bad, though not exactly pleasant when you're on one of the top floors of a tall building.
"Y'all need to move to Northern Cal..."
No thanks, I still remember when downtown Los Gatos was destroyed. :(
Holy crap! At least you've managed to continue posting. That's awesome. You still have power or laptop batteries.
Watch out for those aftershocks.
i'm about five miles from the epicenter and all it did was not one book off a shelf
Nary a tremor Jax - was just curious as I know your area feels the aftershocks sometimes - just maken' sure everyone's okay. lol
I've been through much worse quakes than this one, but we did feel it here in Santa Barbara. It got my attention, but it wasn't horrible. Bear in mind that the aftershocks can be worse than the original quake. Hope that isn't the case with this one.
lol just like a man calling it HUGE.
Glad all are ok - wow 5.8 is not that tiny!!
weird thing is Allentown PA had an earthquake yesterday - a 2.1 but come one since when does Pennsylvania get earthquakes??
and enty - are you sure it was a real earthquake or did you just fall out of your chair?? Hee
whoa, hope you are okay!
Hope everyone's OK!
I lived in San Francisco for a while and experienced a few smaller quakes. The student building I was living in had rollers. The first time it happened I thought I was just really stoned *L*. Ah, college.
I'm in Seal Beach, and my house shook like crazy. Felt bigger than a 5.4 to me, but I'm on liquifaction. Stay safe, everyone!
And here I thought it was just the best bowel movement I ever had.
SFValley felt it but no damage. Enty, you are a candybutt.
i'm in palmdale, i guessed a 4, but it rolled more. woke my lazy-butt daughter up, though, LOL!
it did seem to last a while, but i only jump up if things are rattling-- gotta save the good crystal, and keep the upper cabinet from falling on the bunnies. it's wired to the wall, but the northridge quake really rattled everything pretty badly.
and it only disturbed one bunny, she's in a cage that is up off the ground, so she felt the shaking.
my brother's family is in chino hills, but haven't heard any negatives, so i guess they're fine.
